Challenge: Grab a Partner

Alrighty then...finished two dances by the deadline, and have submitted them both.

"Housecall" by me and BooMerengue and

"After Dinner" by me and Average Gina

I'm going to be away over the weekend (going to a minicon outside of Charlotte, NC), so I'll check out responses and such on Monday.

Was lots of fun, as has been said already, and would love to do it again...just give me a buzz<g>

Dancing in the Dark

The two poets who form this collaboration have chosen to do so in anonymity.

I trust those of you with any inkling to either half of our partnership to let your knowledge remain an unplucked fruit on the tree in the center of Eden. (Thanks in advance Boo and Gina).

I hope you enjoy our efforts in our soon-to-be-posted offering, Sunset's Fall.

Whew!! I bet I don't do this again!! I just posted 10 poems. Ten!! Formatted!! ugh...

But it's okay... I really really liked doin this. Thanks in advance to Reltne, Average Gina, Remec (I'll speak to you later...) Lazarus, flyguy69, Belegon, Tathagata and irishcatsmeow. What fun we had!

btw- Let's all give a big hand to irishcatsmeow! This is a waay cool idea and I hope we keep it going somehow...

Now- I'm sort of apologizing to my dance partners, but only sorta. Why do people not have their member page in their bios? Lauren gave me the format to make your name a link to your stuff, so folks who liked your work could go read more. I had a bit of trouble getting everything to read the way I wanted, and I have very limited time, so there's no link. But I did credit y'all, so don't panic.

Tomorrow or the next day I'll put the poems here. Maybe. (wonder if I can make a post that long...)

Now I have to go find Lauren. I've got an idea for a gunfight!

Lauren? Yoohooo, Lauren?? LAUREN!!!!!

Dear Grab a Partner Poets,

I am unable to read, comment, and vote on the poems for this challenge due to my holiday vacation starting in the AM. Can someone please list every entry in a single post somewhere in this thread so that I may come back after I return and show my support.

Thank you.

Happy holidays!

Uhmm... Mutt? I didn't post the two poems (because you know the third one was a funky dog). I hope you did.

Honey and I have not completed our joint venture...I am tempted to post the sixteen lines we currently have and get feedback on how to tighten them up but I want to ask her opinion of being publicly deconstructed first....

The posting partner pm me with the submissions and I'll set it up on one post. I will be searching for the poem under the name that sent me the pm.

Please send in this format:
name of the poem
odd-lines poet
even-lines poet

Great poems

Lots of great poems were written as a result of this challenge...i like seeing the pairings and subject matter....varied and interesting.

Please pm me with the poems in the format described above. I am ditzy and if I go through the posts, I will probably forget one or something. I have more control over the pm's.

Also don't worry about sending the links. I have to look up the poem anyway and when I receive the messages with the direct links, the become abridged for some reason.

I hope we get to do this again. I'm glad that I did the dance with Mutt, Boo and Remec. Thanks for 'dumbing down' your poetic intelligence to write with me, guys. I hope I dun gud.

Better Late than Never

lildarlin and I have submitted 2 poems for the challenge.

They are Kamikaze prayer and To touch the sky.

Sorry for the delay...last minute touches...

Gina!!! Remind me to whack you when I see you tonight!! 'dumbing down'???

Honey, as long as you put yourself down as a poet, others will too!

You need to walk in here real slow and sexy like... very slowly unbutton your shirt... gently open it, teasing yourself a bit as you do... and as your shirt falls to the floor, you throw your head back and in that forgotten Rebel yell voice scream "I am a P O E T!!!! And beat your breast as you do it. You know. Like Tarzan!!

OK. I have caught some flack for this. Yes. I DID say I wasn't going to post my poems. Then I changed my mind. I am a woman- thats allowed. However I was SURE I had posted that info here, but I can't find it. So maybe I just THOUGHT I did. I've done stuff like that before.

I'm sorry. Really. If I offended anyone, it wasn't intended, and I am groveling.

*grovel

*grovel

OK. Done groveling.

Here's the poems I had SOOO much fun with. My lines are italicized.

Heating Up with Average Gina

Anytime you guys see her- smack her! She says she can't write. She lies!

Tara Redux with Reltne

We tweaked this one a bit, but I liked it. He gives good advice.

House Call with Remec

Watch out for this guy! He's slick! And dark... and mysterious... and maybe even a bit evil! But in a totally sexy way!

Steel Seduction with flyguy69

Whoooa!! I wasn't sure what he was going to do, but I couldn't quit. Hell- I didn't WANT to quit!

Love Gone Wild with Lazarus

This one took a decidedly darker turn neither of us were expecting. Had it gone on longer we'd probably be in jail.

Down To The Sea with Belegon

Bel gave his a different name. I just liked the phrase so I went with it! This was so fun to write. And he's fun to write with.

L'amour le Absinthe with Tathagata

This one, and Bel's, cry out for more depth. I love them both, and would like to go deeper with these. Someday.

Indigo Eyes with irishcatsmeow

I think this one could fit in with my Song For My Mandolin poems. I'm sure gonna try!

I want to thank ALL of you! and I want more! more! more!

Ha! Poetic viagra, indeed... LOL

Average Gina and I wrote this one, but neither of us felt it was strong enough to submit. We sure had fun writing it, though. Odd lines by The Mutt, even lines by average gina.

Teacher

Her eyes had the wisdom of water,
silver lining breezes haloed her with grace,
the scars of lessons learned etched in alabaster,
spunk laced her serene smile,
grateful for the aches she had earned.

She turned to me, washing my naivety
from me, like chocolate from a baby's smile.

In that space, the air about us turned
and roiled like the smoke of an untended fire.
Past and present collided and converged
into an infinite singularity of want and need
and an accountable, vast sum of love and fear.

She put a slender finger to my trembling lips
quelling my thunderous heart,
and breathed her soul into my ear.

In that space, youth wafted with the fading smoke.

I am working on it now.

The submissions are set up with the name of the poem with the embedded link, the odd-numbered (first and every other line) poet and the even-nunbered (the second line and every other line) poet. The names of the poets that are not either green or blue did not define to me whom the lines belonged.

After Dinner by average gina and Remec

Aiming Point by annaswirls and Liar

Benign Logistics by annaswirls and Liar

Delayed Voyage Home (also named Down To the Sea) by Belegon and BooMerengue

Garden of Evil by Miss Oatlash and The Mutt

Heating Up by Boomerengue and average gina

Housecall by Remec and Boomerengue

Indigo Eyes by Boomerengue and irishcatsmeow

L'amore le Absinthe' with Boomerengue and Tathagata

Leatherbound by postobitum and flyguy69

Love Gone Wild by Boomerengue and Lazarus

Passion's Fervor by FinestSilk and NoOtherName

Steel Seduction, anonymously written (Come on guys! Tell us!)

Sunset's Fall by Poetic Collaboration, a pen name for the duo that was also anonymously written (So cruel, yet so enticing. Please reveal yourselves!)

Tara Redux by Boomerengue and Reltne

Tasting by The Fool and Cordelia

Woven Words by Tathagata and *Catbabe*

Thanks to everyone that submitted their pm's to me. To be fair, I also posted the poems that did not send me a pm.

What The Mutt will not tell you is that there were two other poems that were written. The third one has been burned because that was a funky mass of words hurled together that should not be dared called 'poem'. Yup. It was that bad.

This poem remains untitled. If anyone knows either of our writing styles, you will be able to identify who wrote what lines...

Let me follow you
by the sound of your spiked heels
the crack of your whip
the creak of rope and leather.

Let me lead you
to open that dark box inside your mind
to pain your pleasures, to pleasure your pains
I surrender until victory is mine.

Let me obey you
without question, without hesitation
with obedience, with surrender
and the power of yes.

Let me control you
until you lose control
give yourself completely to me
and bind me until I am free.

Thanks to everyone that submitted their pm's to me. To be fair, I also posted the poems that did not send me a pm.

I am adding corrections and poems that were not previously posted.

If anyone has anything to add, please pm me. This is the last time I will be making changes to this post.

To date, I have defined who did the lines of Miss Oatlash's and The Mutt's poem, corrected BooMerengue's name and defined all of her poems, added tungtied's and LilDarlin's poems and links, listed the names of each poem in alphabetical order under each poem and I've corrected the writers of "Steel Seduction", who are BooMerengue and flyguy69.:D

flyguy69 said:
Oops, I guess you already corrected this!

Yup. If anyone sees anything else wrong, let me know. Final posting will not be until tomorrow. Hopefully The Mutt and my poems will be approved by then.
