Flame, shmame, H4H, no worries.....The Canadian part didn't miff me...the theatre/fire thing did.

It suggested to me that my Free Speech argument was ridiculous and beyond the reasonable limits of Free Speech as defined by the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

My argument is far from silly, ridiculous or a prank, in my view.

Suggesting my position is like shouting Fire in a theatre is insulting to the gravity of this discussion, whether anyone else here realizes it or appreciates what's at stake or not.

Killer Muffin, for example, understands what's at stake here....even though she'd surely be just as happy to dip me in kerosene & shit and set me alight...and would enjoy it....she, like me, sees that the issue of free speech and moderation are inextricably tied to the future success of the BDSM Forum...it's freedom...and the personal sanity of our sole and good Mod, Risia.

I was merely using that as an example of LIMITS set forth on Free Speach here in the US.

And Yes I do understand EXACTLY what is at stake here. I was a member of an over moderated by favoritism hunting board. I KNOW exactly where that road can lead. A bunch of us left and started a new more regional board. There we have a no flame policy by agreement not by moderation. At one point in time one member STARTED a flame thread about what a member of the first board had said. He was KINDLY informed by a mod that we BY AGREMEENT do not engage in such on that board. I will say that that and one other board are the only FLAME free places I have been on the net.

And KM and Lance together my Kung Fu sure aint of that level

It had nothing to do with what someone posted, whether it was 2 people disagreeing or anything of that nature. The information was outdated and inaccurate. To be even more frank, I was embarrassed at the oldness and inaccuracy of it.

Now, believe what you want, join Lance's camp, I really don't care. These were my reasons and my only reasons. I have no fucking hidden agenda here like some seem to have. But I am an easy target, especially when someone doesn't care enough to ask me the facts behind my decision.

From the outside with everyone saying they "knew" the behind the scenes action,it was almost like a bad flashback.

My apologies for starting a pissing match.

I simply felt that Lance's sweeping comment about free speech as it related to that thread was a faux pas. I still believe it is. He is free to start the discussion all over again if he so choses. So his free speech hasn't been violated.

Rose's free speech was actually respected in that she exerted a choice that was respected.

Hugs to Rose. I do understand how embarrassing it can be to post something that you later wish you had never clicked "Submit" to.

As I imagine her posts were quoted, editing the post wouldn't do.

Regardless of whether or not I had posted there, I would support anyone who wanted to take back what they have said and in whatever way they chose to take it back.


It appears to me that the mods can do anything, including tossing around hundred dollar bills and some "camps" will find fault with it.

I've said everything I wanted to say and then some on this sub-topic, but here's a summary of my thoughts/opinions on the New Improved Sticky using the closed thread mess as an example:

Summary:

1. Threads should only be closed if they are in clear breach of the rules set between Laurel and the Lit moderaters in their terms of reference.

2. (Note: there is a different set of rules for mods than what appears in the sticky here.)

3. The reason you see less moderation elsewhere on Lit is because there are fewer Rules.

4. The reason there is more "unrest" in the BDSM Forum is because there are more Rules here and heavy-handed Moderation compared to the rest of the site.

5. BDSM Forum members don't need this kind of "protection".

6. The BDSM Forum brings ridicule upon itself and BDSM generally by behaving as cloistered, exclusive, backbiters with virtually no sense of decorum... or humour.

Shall we see how long this pm sits?

The board has been acting a bit funky. Dickcheese may not have gotten the PM. This is a programming issue that should be explored.

Secondly, if Prissy Bum--I cannot refer to you as that. If DRose has no issues with it, then the only others who could possibly have issues with it would be anyone else who posted to that thread, too. Since we're not seeing a chorus of Hey! Where'd my post go! Then it's pretty safe to guess that they don't care either. And the thread was not deleted. It still exists. So poopy on anyone who is incensed about it just for the joy of being incensed about it.

I would have to agree that community censure is more effective and far better a tool in regards to flaming than moderator censure. The mod is not Mommy and she isn't here to referee. She's not here to make sure you have an enjoyable board experience. That is the individual poster's responsibility and that is Literotica Discussion Board Policy. That is not Risia's job. Her job is to make sure the community isn't overrun by things that have no bearing and to make sure this doesn't become a BDSM role playing forum. This is outlined, by the by, in the sticky.
