In Finland, and thie socks are Estonian... Probably not exporting to US. They are my first pair of this type, but I'm expecting now another pair in wool from Snag, we'll see how that goes.

Mine never stay up. My legs are long and slender, but I'm not quite tall enough for opera length. Meaning regular length hits mid-thigh (no way that's staying up) and opera length go...well, all the way up.

It's maddening.

I've never heard of talking about opera lengrh in socks! Around here regular is below mid-calf. Then knee-length is just below the knee - for me they never stay up anymore, they are so badly stretch around the calves. And then there's over-the-knee. I'm short (though indeed not slender) and over-the-knees do of course reach mid-thigh for me. Stockings vary, some do reach almost all the up but luckily garters can be adjusted. Unfortunately they don't usually tell which length they are.

My D doesn't allow pantyhose in his presence (because he want me barefooted) and I've become fond of the idea of wearing long socks and long panties instead of leggings and socks. If I have a skirt, I want the lines hidden, and ordinary socks tend to dig in my legs so...

Opera length is just a term for thigh socks (or stockings) for those that are taller. Starts roughly around 5'9", body and leg type dependent.

I'm 5'7.5", but with longish legs. No hope of regular thigh highs fitting, but the opera length swim! It's like being between a small and medium.

The worst part is that I love thigh high socks and stockings.

I am doomed to frustration.

I just picked a cheaper (but warmer, maybe 30den) pair of stockings from my drawer yesterday. They came all the way up. I think I can't wear them if I loose weight. And they definitely didn't state their length in the package!

But I'm hopeful with Snag (and I recommend you try that company too, @Endless_Night ). I just need to ask them to do thigh-higs in cotton too, and not just the rather thick looking woollen ones.

Snag has a size table that takes length into consideration, and body shape somewhat. They don't use the normal sizes but letters A-G.

I'm with you on this one. I wonder if the writer confused the word "authority" with "authoritarianism" or something. That's the only way I can make that make sense in my head.

Love and respect are preconditions for an intimate relationship for many, but not all D/s relationships.
I agree with @BiBunny that the author may be confusing authority with authoritarianism.
Choosing to submit to another does require a willingness to be obedient to and recognize the authority of your D.
Maybe the author is thinking about how submission is voluntary? That willingness to submit to authority and be obedient can be withdrawn at any time.

I’m with you. Submission isn’t *only* about authority and obedience, but they play a damn big role. The author of that quote is either confused or unskilled at communicating his ideas. I have a feeling it might be both.

I think this meme is addressing fake Doms who think it’s about them as oppressed to being about loving and caring for the sub as she needs.

I think I understand it to an extent. A person can have authority without submission, just as a person can be obedient without submitting. I do think this addresses more to the people who think that that’s all there is to it. I have something of an outsider perspective though, in that I consider myself to be a little but not a submissive.

Some little things to help with bedtime:

Before my evening cup of tea...

• Having everything ready for the morning
• No unfinished things I left that should continue still before bed (if necessary, I decide postpone stuff)
• Opening my bed so that it's ready for me to to just slip in
• Closing the curtains
• Switching reading lamp on, ceiling lamp off
• Cats fed
• Any restricting clothes off, if I have worn any (dressing gown is well enough by now)

...and so I can just relax with the tea/hot chocolate /whatever, and maybe a snack.

My Dom did the curtains, bed and lights for me while I was washing my teeth, and I then realised how much nicer it was to go to the bedroom then. It helped me calm down faster! I've added those to my routine since then.
