Femdom

IMO, what you call yourself is up to you. Personally, I don't care for Domme simply because I don't see why dominance needs to be defined in masculine/feminine fashions. Although, I did like the 'Domina' I saw here in this thread. Although feminized, I didn't perceive it as 'lessened'. I allow Mistress, Emma, or Emma Ray. I don't tolerate nicknames, so those three either alone or mixed are the only 'titles' I go by, though I don't care much for Mistress either, ROFL! I'm with whoever said they wanted to be called Master!

My point is it doesn't matter to me how I'm labeled. And I, too, thought FemDom was a contraction of 'feminine dominant'. I never thought to look into the etymology of the term.

I've always used Dom when referring to myself in RL. No one seemed to care or comment in my circle. Sometimes, I've used Master, Lady and Goddess in scenes depending on my mood. I don't care for Mistress, because I think of adultery.

On the boards, I had people correcting me saying that Dom is the male term?!? I didn't realize the word dominant was male. I've started using Domme or Domina in some of my posts just so others don't get stuck on stupid. Plus, I think they have a nice sound.

FemDom is something I also picked up from the internet. I've used it a few times. In some countries, I've learned it is a brand on feminine hygiene products. So, don't think I'll be using it anytime in the future.

Just labels though...to each their own.
