Thank you. I've lurked around here a few times, and seen the challenges, heard about them from Liar and Belegon and Doormouse. Decided it was time to have a go.

I enjoyed the exercise.

Was I supposed to mention somewhere in the post, other than the poem, that my moon is Harvest or Corn?

Just seen the posting date. 29th August.
I'll be in the middle of moving house, and off line, no comp. So I'll be unable to post then.

Another time.

You could submit a little earlier and leave a message in the notes field for the poem to show up on the 29th. I'm sure that would work.

I don't know. I'm just pretending to know things.
Now go back about 5 or 6 posts and look at my poem and tell me if works.

That's worked for me before so yeah...I'm sure.

Tell Laurel in the notes field when you want the poem submitted and you should be fine.;)

You're not a cold moon
you could use the long nights one....
I don't enough about you to say how but...

maybe you had insomnia
or up walking a colicky baby

Maybe it was a cold, long night when I mooned you.

I had thought of pm-ing Laurel and asking if I can do that.

I think its the method the AH are using to post the Literotica Olympics chain stories on set dates.

Great minds.

Thanks Catbabe.

I think I need to make the lines longer

It doesn't show what I want it to.

While You Sleep.

Old moon watches
with a childlike grin
while wind a swept blanket
covers his face.

Even in shadows
eyes fight to cry
as you sleep
so gentle,
calm, in dream state.

Back to the drawing board LOL

I read it again and I think it works... I think. I'm a cold moon, alone on long nights.
Though, I like the colicky baby approach. I know that all too well. I think I'll try that one next.

Thanks for the comment anna. It was like instantaneous inspiration when I wrote that. Now, the next!

Beaver Moon

Shine full in the crackling night and light my way.
The air rippling, like waves, behind me
swimming in depths, too deep to freeze.

A silken breeze sighs across my skin,
cold and flowing in the bright gleam from your face,
wise and whispering a welcome to winter.

Every time I see this thread, I think of this song. I could have posted it in the lyrics thread, but it belongs here.

Song About the Moon
Paul Simon

If you want to write a song about the moon
Walk along the craters of the afternoon
When the shadows are deep
And the light is alien
And gravity leaps like a knife off the pavement
And you want to write a song about the moon
You want to write a spiritual tune
Then nah nah nah
Presto
Song about about the moon

If you want to write a song about the heart
Think about the moon before you start
Because the heart will howl
Like a dog in the moonlight
And the heart can explode
Like a pistol on a June night
So if you want to write a song about the heart
And its ever-longing for a counterpart
Write a song about the moon

The laughing boy
He laughed so hard
He fell down from his place
The laughing girl
She laughed so hard
The tears rolled down her face

Hey Songwriter
If you want to write a song about
A face
Think about a photograph
That you really can't remember
But you can't erase
Wash your hands in dreams and lightning
Cut off your hair
And whatever is frightening

If you want to write a song
About a face
If you want to write a song about
The human race
Write a song about the moon

If you want to write a song about the moon
You want to write a spiritual tune
THEN DO IT
Write a song about the moon

Is this better??

Mr. Corn Moon

I took the cob you offered me
and peeled it back with wicked glee
and gently tongued the juice it made
as slow I squeezed it in the shade
and fell to ground on bended knee.

the coddled cob- it seemed to grow
as I stared at it from below
it took two hands to girt my boon
and glancing up at the Corn Moon
I laughed and moved to the next row!

Hi Ange! I LOVE that song!

I have a good Moon song- brb!

2 songs...

you'll remember these, I'm sure...

West Of The Moon
Words and Music by Bob Seger

Out on those trails
Out 'neath that sky
Rivers of old
Still rushing by

Eagles still soar
White mountains loom
Down in those valleys
West of the Moon

West of the stars
Far from the chase
Far from the crowds
Far from the pace

Horses run free
Winter comes soon
Out by those mountains
West of the Moon

And everywhere
Everywhere
Wild things are free
Free in the wind and the sun

Everywhere
Everywhere
As it should be
Left on their own while they run

Out by those mountains
West of the Moon

Shame On The Moon
Words and Music by Rodney Crowell

Until you've been beside a man
You don't know what he wants
You don't know if he cries at night
You don't know if he don't
When nothin comes easy
Old nightmares are real
Until you' ve been beside a man
You don't know how he feels

Once inside a woman's heart
A man must keep his head
Heaven opens up the door
Where angels fear to tread
Some men go crazy
Some men go slow
Some men go just where they want
Some men never go

Oh blame it on midnight
Ooh shame on the moon

Everywhere it's all around
Comfort in a crowd
Strangers faces all around
Laughin right out loud
Hey watch where your goin
Step light on old toes
Cause until you've been beside a man
You don't know who he knows

Oh blame it on midnight
Ooh shame on the moon
Oh blame it on midnight
Ooh shame on the moon

I especially love the second... if I could just once write something like that I could die happy!

Hi Ange! I LOVE that song!

Hello dear woman. I do too. In fact, Graceland is in my top favorite albums ever I think. ee and I have this ongoing "top ten" "top five" (whatever lol) music discussion. So that;s a top ten album and Paul Simon is probably a top five songwriter. Probably. :D

How are you?
