Have you ever been drawn...

Fussing with tax rubbish today (and more days to come) perhaps tomorrow the café, especially as I can add it to work (chalk mural there)

FINALLY!
Sheesh, the internet went out and I had to schedule an appointment. Luckily, the managed to fix it remotely, so I did get to the café. I had to spend the bulk of my time working on the mural, but I squeaked in one drawing of a customer. I only had a vantage point for one, but he was interesting. A little tricky being in direct line of sight, so I had to do stealth drawing.

Two snow days in a row. Lots of snow clearing and kid watching (not my own, as those two are adults)
Drawing goes on back burner.

Finally got to the café! Yay!

Took my old "gunfighter" position (furthest back with back to the wall).
Unfortunately my first victim did not stay long. I did not get much of anything down on paper.

The previous time that I managed to capture a bit of someone via covert drawing.
It's always tricky to not freak someone out and they are typically moving/fidgeting constantly. :)

Note, that the collar does not "match"... as the vantage shifted a bit, so the direction of the contour changed.
I'll probably fix that.

I have. When I was younger I was a Civil War Reenactor. I've been drawn, photographed with period correct cameras, been on national television and in a major motion picture. But standing for the drawing was a lot of fun. I never knew how much went into it.
I suspect that being drawn in that circumstance was somewhat less than "erotic", eh?
Never the less, there is an intense scrutiny involved.

Yeah. I just used the experience I had. It was hard work staying so still for so long. But definitely a fun experience
Indeed. Modeling can be quite an effort! As you know, even the period photography requires more discipline than current technology

A quick fix.
New potential victim, though moving from one table to this and back while chattering to a friend and charging a laptop.

There have been a few instances where I "broke cover" and did not hide the fact that I was drawing my subject.
Those were times when eye contact was made and it felt "right".

One instance was at the airport (Laguardia I think it was). She smiled.
Unfortunately, we did not end up on the same flight.

I was just checking. The local Art Center no longer offers life drawing sessions.

I need an off site studio again.
The last time I drew a nude from life was at her house.
Sadly, that is not available at this time.

On the bright side, the local art center has a drop-in life drawing session(s) again.
Barring any hiccups, I will attend this coming Friday.

It has always been "like a box of chocolates".

It was touch and go for a while — power outages dues to ice and wind. Lost power/heat at home. Luckily, there is power downtown so I made it. to life drawing. A BIG turn out — 23 folk drawing.

The model was very good.

I was very tired, from lack of sleep — sleeping in recliner to be near the gas fireplace. I made it through, but HAD to get to the café for a decaf mocha. (can't have the caffeine, but the warm sweet drink helped).

I hope the power will be back on soon, though could be as late as Sunday.

This session the model was on a low stand in the middle. Most of us drawing were "older" folk. 3 appeared to be college age. A young man with a very full beard was next to me. He was very much a novice. A cute person at my "10 o'clock" undetermined gender. A very beautiful young woman at my "1 o'clock". I was facing the windows. As it was a sunny day and running from 11-2pm everything was back lit for me — a bit troublesome.

I have noticed in the past that male models can be surreptitiously "flirty" if there is a drawer they fancy. This presents itself by how they present themselves. That is, they will favor that person directionally — more frequently facing them. I imagine that I'd do the same. The woman behind and to the right of me commented, quietly, "no, no, he's always. facing that way". It was not "always", just "mostly".

Coincidence? I think not. ;)

Another interesting observation — this model had shaved his pubes. I have seen all sorts of folk as models and there have been few men who who "manscaped". I imagine that is a bit more common these days.

again, as I said (as momma said) "a box of chocolates"

Nothing posted about another session yet.
I was told they might be monthly.
The first was in January, but I did not hear about that one.
I'm on the e-mailing list now, and will be checking the web-site frequently.

to be drawn?

There is something intensely erotic about being drawn (or painted) — being studied, intensely, passionately.
Once upon a time, in a different online forum where I also never posted pictures, one man I had a friendship/ flirtation with asked me to let him draw me for my avatar. I put him off with jokes, and eventually (because we both liked Primus) he drew me an avatar that was a take on the cover of the Pork Soda album.

I loved it and used it. And also realized that his work was beautiful -- and that he'd probably make me feel beautiful if I trusted him to see me. So I finally let him see my real face and sent a photo. And when he sent me a picture of the sketch he made, I felt as exposed as Kate Winslet, even though I'd shown much less. He managed to capture all of who I was-- especially the mischief/ spark/ laughter in my eyes... I've got it framed on my dresser and remember him fondly whenever I see it.

(K- if there's a chance you've also ended up here after all these years, say hello, won't you? -S)
