Lip Piercings

We will have to agree to disagree on that....most of the piercers I know and respect speak against sea salt soaks, as the constant irritation and fucking with the piercing can delay healing. My experience has proven this to me too, as my piercings and tattoos heal very fast and very well...because I leave them the hell alone. Keep them clean, don't touch and fool around with them, and they heal fast and neat.

To each their own....both are valid healing methods, it's up to the person to decide what works for them. Some people use A&D ointment on their tattoos, others like me say hell no and just use unscented, mild lotion. There are as many preferences as there are professionals and the people they stick needles into.

I agree with you. (No, I'm not a piercer, before it gets asked.) I have ungodly sensitive skin, and sea salt only irritates it more and delays the healing process. All the piercers I know (and they are very well-respected) say that sea salt soaks should only be used if there is an infection present. I don't have any piercings now, but when I did, the Leave It The Hell Alone method was most conducive to rapid healing.

I guess I fall in the agree to disagree category. Both my piercer, and Malin's and the other piercers where we had our nipples and Malin had his tongue pierced suggest sea salt soaks for at least the first 1 - 2 weeks... as did his Domme's piercer where she lives. It was a part of their printed brochure as part of aftercare.

I guess it depends on the piercer.

Well thankfully with me here that's not going to be an issue.

Cmere Shy , look they are even ribbed for your extra piercing pleasure.

You know what they say sweety "If you haven't tried ribbed, you haven't lived "

1. sea-salt soaks are a must for the correct healing of most people's piercings.
the sea-salt helps keep the piercing ultra-clean, as well as promoting new tissue growth.
I'm with serijules on this one. Sea-salt soaks aren't the only way to heal a piercing. I've been using H2Ocean on my inner conch piercing exclusively (first time I've tried the stuff) and it has healed up fine. I used it on my nipple piercings too and they are fine. And I know a LOT of people who support LITHA, which doesn't mean don't clean it, it means don't fuck with it. (I will never be successful with LITHA, though, because I always have to fuck with it!) LITHA is as well-respected as sea-salt soaks, I would think. I have used sea-salt on piercings and healed them nicely, but I disagree that it's the only method.
3. in some cases, the anatomy of a particular person does not allow certain piercings - this definitely is the case with some clit piercings as well as some labial piercings.
I have to ask for more detail here. Can you describe situations in which a woman's labia would NOT be suitable for piercing? (Other than having had a labiaplasty and there's not enough there, since I think my comment about that is the reason you mentioned this one.) Who said anything about not having the anatomy for clitoral hood piercings? (Since I assume that is what you meant, given that they are MUCH more common than clitoral piercings...though I have not heard a piercer refer to a "clit piercing" before, they are usually more specific than that.) I can imagine not having enough hood to pierce, sure. And I know you definitely have to be suited for triangles. But what situations are you talking about with regard to labial piercing? I'm talking about "normal" women by the way - injuries and illnesses notwithstanding.

I'd rather get mine pre-sterilized and sealed from a piercing supply company...I can't imagine using anything from an auto supply shop for piercing!

H2Ocean... is a sea salt saline spray...to be used as a sea salt soak on places where you cant really soak them...

ETA: it's filtered water, coral reef sea salt and preservative

It's got more than that though, it's got other stuff in there. There was a whole big thing a while back about whether H2Ocean was making claims it could do more than it could, or had different properties than it did, or whatever...and the makers pretty much knocked everybody out of the water by saying "yes it DOES have x, y, and z in it."

I find that old school tattooists and piercers tend to go more for the LITHA methods than the younger generation of them do. Neither are wrong or right in my opinion, it's very much a personal choice, although I've also noticed people feel very strongly one way or the other.

HATE that stuff. The only tattoo I ever had that didn't heal very well, I used the H2Ocean. Scabbed like a bitch and pulled colour out like crazy, and it was not a bad tattoo job as I have 4 others by the same artist.

I like tattoo goo a lot though, for tats and of course that lovely Dial soap lol. Now every time I smell Dial, I crave a new tattoo.

I think I remember the package saying H2Ocean can be used on tattoos, but I've only ever heard of it for piercings. I much prefer tattoo goo myself.

Me too, for certain.

I still have it, maybe next piercing I will try it for that, although my LITHA method has proven itself enough for me.

oh we dont put sea salt on the tattoos.. we put a VERY thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment... just enough to keep the skin pliable.. And even that treatment has changed. When I got my tigger tattoo 12 years ago, it was antibiotic ointment. When Malin got his first tattoo, it was desitin and wrap it in saran wrap. When I got my British flag, they'd started using the A&D. The way they explained it, was that that over time, it was found that neosporin cause scar tissue to form, disrupting the color, so they use the ointment, for mostly the same reason given in the suggestions when Etoile used the nair the other day...

See now I'm not a fan of the A&D at all, I find it way too greasy. I've seen how badly neosporin can pull colour out though, yeah.

I do once to twice a day dial washings, tattoo goo the first 3-6 days and then lotion after, nothing else. My tattoos heal VERY fast and very clean. I remove the wrap after the first 3 hours too and it never goes on again.

My very first tattoo I used all these creams and ointments and wraps and god knows what else that everyone was telling me to do and that tattoo took ages to heal and scabbed terribly. Everyone is just...different I guess! lol

and *blush* sorry Etoile.. didnt mean to bring up your..discomfort

ohhh and you know how you said when you smell dial soap, you crave a new tattoo... I get the same way when I smell A&D ointment..which was bad when Malin just got his done a few weeks ago... because it was on his back, I had to put the ointment on... that's when I started thinkikng about my next one..(although..still debating things)

Not face lips, those lips!

I am curious (it happens lol)

What are the do's and don'ts of cunt piercings?

Does it hurt?

Do they get in the way?

Do they change the orgasms you have?

What about when you get waxed, is it awkward with them there?

I know some of you have them, and I really would like to understand how they work.

Thank you

I have a curved barbell in my hood and it pinched briefly when I had it done and only hurt the first night when I showered because I forgot it was there (how soon we forget) and rubbed it the wrong way. It healed completely two weeks to the day my piercer said it would. Also per his instructions, I used Seri's method of cleaning- LITHA- simple soap and water and I had no problems.

Since I have the barbell, it doesn't really get in the way except when I have on jeans and no underwear and forget to sit down gingerly...then it tends to twist and irritates me though it doesn't hurt.

It doesn't change the orgasms I have though the larger the ball sitting on my clit, the more intense it is. If I use the smaller ball that I got it pierced with, I barely know it's there until I play *wink*

As for waxing, I've gotten two Brazilians and the girl just adjusted the way she was waxing me and it didn't get in the way. I generally shave and have no problems there either. The only problem I have when I shave is when I have in the plastic balls, the blade tends to shave the ball if I'm not careful.

Other than that, I'm thinking of getting my labia pierced next.

When I got my tats done, they gave me some sort of 'tat goo' (to borrow the term) and told me to use it for the first two days then switch to Lubriderm Lotion which worked like a charm at healing them fast and keeping the itch down.

Exactly, Lubiderm, I couldn't remember the name of the lotion to save my life, thanks lol

goo

It's just a healing product, one of the many out there, but I like it. It's "greasy" enough to keep the skin healthy but not so much that it attracts germs and dirt. It has a scent that makes me tattoo-crazy just like the dial soap, but I can avoid that easily. Seems like all the sudden everyone in my family buys Dial by the truckload where I never noticed it before LOL.

I've been using H2Ocean

perhaps you should find out exactly what H2Ocean actually stands for :)

And I know a LOT of people who support LITHA, which doesn't mean don't clean it, it means don't fuck with it.

we ALL agree that leaving it alone is the best way... but you'll find that it generally refers to not fiddling with it, rather than not doing anything at all to aid healing.

some women, quite simply do not have enough of a labia to successfully support a piercing without the risk of migration.
or they're too retracted and face constant 'pull' from the labia majora closing around them, again causing migration.
in my career, i have seen and pierced literally thousands of women - and trust me! - there are some very different shapes/sizes out there!

as for clit piercing - i apologise if i wasn't specific enough.
horizontal - needs very little hood skin to be done successfully.
vertical - needs about 50% more than the minimum for a horizontal (if it ain't there, it won't stay there)
regarding triangles - can be done to almost everyone, but needs a VERY experienced piercer, as the risks to clitoral nerves are far greater with this piercing than with the previous 2.

No one said LITHA meant not doing anything at all to aid healing. That's YOUR interpretation of what was said.

Some of us simply don't agree that sea salt soaks are helpful, simple at that.

Hello! I haven't been 'round these parts in a long time, but I'm looking to change that now that I'm on a non-government computer most of the time, hah! Shyguy directed me this way...

My piercings (one to each inner labia and one vertical hood) didn't really hurt at all. In truth, I was a bit disappointed with how little sensation there was. That being said, as with any bodymod it is a very personal thing, and most folks say they hurt, especially the hood! :) They healed VERY quickly; the quickest of any piercing I've had done.

Get in the way? They occasionally twist wrong (my labial ones), most often when I'm sitting down. That can be a bit awkward for sure, especially if I'm not somewhere I can just adjust them! If we're doing rope work with a harness or something like that he just has to be careful to make sure they are out of the way. Occasionally one will try and sneak in when we're having sex (especially if I'm not super-moist yet) and I can feel a tug - it is quick to readjust that.

With my vertical hood ball (I have a banana bar) resting directly on my clitoris, it can be VERY sensitive during things like pussy spanking! A much sharper feel to it.

The real change to the orgasms is related to the vert hood - I quickly learned ways to wriggle it to bring about a much quicker, sharper orgasm! Again, I'm sure that's an individual thing. I've had mine for almost 5 years and have had no problems with some of the things people seem to be concerned about like desensitization.

I don't wax, so can't help with that. The inner labia don't really effect shaving, and the hood I just have to make sure it stays out of the way.

Damn this thread! I was content until I started looking at those triangles and started fantasizing again...*sigh* Guess it's time to start researching a good piercist around these parts. :D

Well shy...it doesn't hurt and doesn't get in the way. It is a lovely addition to my "pretty pussy" as I have been told and was last year on my birthday presented with a darling little chain fashioned like a leash which I could wear around my neck when not attached. I was a very naughty girl and lost it in the ocean. ...another story entirely. I did the piercing myself one tipsy evening back in 1978 and had it stretched 3 years ago to accommodate the correct type of jewelry (now that hurt a bit).

For those who wish to or think they might like to pierce there as already stated the anatomy of some prohibits certain types of piercing i.e. clitoral hoods the most common. The inner labia heals faster than the outer as it is not transitional tissue. All in all the final results are erotic and a delight to look at.

Go for it is MHO.

Thanks for that BB and Empress Fi.

I haven't said I want them or that I am thinking of having them done....just asking questions, honest I am!!

I do admit that some recent piercing pics I have seen do look pretty, but I am coward

One of the things I was curious about was if you sat awkwardly and it got caught up in clothing.

I am very glad to hear the orgasms don't change.
One of the things that really puts me off is the idea I would have to re-learn my own body in order to have an orgasm.

I guess the only real way to find out is to have it done, but I am not ready for that; not by a long way.

Interesting comments about sea salt.

It has long been thought that salt aided wound healing.

When I had my first C section to give birth in 1987 I was told put salt in my bath water to aid healing. They never said how much salt though!

When I had my second C section in 1989 it was not mentioned.

I did my nurse training in 1995, a report came out advocating salt as part of healing.

Further research followed saying unless you could say how much salt it was an old wives tale.

Last I heard it was not recommended for healing because too many people have sensitive skin which is irritated by the salt and it therefore delays healing.

My view is that if you have tried salt for other wounds and it worked, use it. If not, don't bother
