new poems

review for New Poems, Tuesday April 27th coming up also, want to write this poem first please

Well, I am going to be honest here, as I usually am.
I don't know whether it is because I am still trying to make my way through yesterday's poems.
Or because there were do darn many awesome and inspiring poems out there still striking gongs within my mind with their impact.
Or that I am physically ill from stress right now, that my mind is exhausted right now, mood down.

Best I can do today, including the two new poems for the 28th from ginslut and Sadie26

Sadie's wasnt bad with her dislike for this drive for Perfection
her fourth strophe? stood out a bit, but I have a feeling that was her intent. Not a bad poem at all.

PVodogaz has something interesting to say in a self forming philisophical way with sliding mirrors, it just needs to be tightened a little, excellent foundation for a really good poem here, more than that actually.

Uncle pervy comes out with a bunch of fairy tale rhymes, made me smile imagining him writing them, wondering what was going on in his mind  Have a look and see Hi ho hi ho!

AND Taea Creations also has a few up, this one her best Kittens

well, thats all from me tonight folks. It is really late and I have to crawl to bed or will never get the kids up in time.
huge hugs....

Thanks!

Thank you anna for the kind mention. And I also want to thank those who take the time to comment. It is nice to find an interactive environment instead of pitching coins into a dark and silent well...

I hope to read and enjoy many of the works on this site. Later!

I believe a new poet here, I like her use of this poets solid lines that ground the poem among the images and elusive reflections.

I have to apologize to drowyn. My comments should read:
"I like THE use of this poets solid lines....etc etc"

Friday Reviews....

Will be posted within the hour.... just got home and I am reading through all of the wonderful poetry...

Retraction~

Well retraction isn't the right word...
Clear up the intent or meaning...some can't
see their nose before their eyes, So let me
jot down the meaning of this ....Poem...

Often times we get feed back or comments
that we find un-nerving, a comment that stirrs
the emotions, We become defensive of our
creation...I seen it very plain this week more
than most, but we must understand the nature
of what stirrs us, and as artist we create from
a very strong feeling.

This was created to understand why comments
stirr us and how to deal with them in the right
way, I wrote this as a lesson. It is better to show
someone a way and let them discover a lesson
rather than hammer it in them...hope this is
understood as a point not a verbal lashing.
Of course as an event, not rival. We can learn
from almost every thing if we open our eyes
instead of close our hearts...BOWS HUMBLE..

...............YDD is a Ying Yang.........

Friday Reviews (the real deal)

Today there were 39 New Poems.

takes a big giant breath and begins

Queer Made Devine by Chase_NightShade
I couldn't help but like this poem. It was there and then not. But this one line is haunting.

I am made angel by a demon

Where Do I Go by shaftmasters_morgan
I enjoyed the call and response of this poem. I could hear almost two distinct voices 'talking' in this poem.

Slave's Sonnet by the Mutt
I think that anyone that has been enslaved completely or partially can understand that sometimes there is a moment of 'what if?...'

You Walk So Fine! by Uncle Pervey
Alright I had to go and find this song to actually get the feel for this but it was well worth it. The 'new' lyrics are right on time with the song. I am still humming it as I write.

Forgiveness by quietpoly
This was haunting, I am not sure my exact feelings on this but I felt it enough to bring it out into the front of everyone.

To Borrow a Supernova by Liar
...a sun gave up her life
for me to revel in your skin
and see that sight,
the almost hidden jolts
of tranquil heartbeats
deep within.

As if gold,
I bathed in you.

daydreams by Tathagata
This author in two different parts uses hard words to respond to his introspection, maybe hard words that we all should use.
and yet these were the mythic times
I long for now
in many ways
immortal
immoral
impartial
it was all good
and all a game

Betrayal by simply_cyn
You can feel the ache in your hear when you read these words. They were not written by someone that simply has looked at betrayal from the outside but had it handed to them with their heart in tatters.
Stumbling footfalls carry me quick
from this nightmare I cannot shake
thorny paths I travel still
prick and scratch my bleeding heart.

Hey Jeeves by NahNahman
I have used 'Ask Jeeves' many times when I have been stumped by something. But I never would have thought to ask him where my heart went. I thought this was cute.

YDD is a Ying Yang by My Erotic Tail
I liked this poem. At a time or another anyone that writes their heart has been on the receiving end of feedback or public comments that hurt because the writer of them just didn't understand what we were trying to say. However, this line says it all.
For the enemy is not, YDD,
but the fact that I let it bother me.

These are just the ones that caught my eye. As I mentioned there were 39 new poems today. I hope that everyone has a chance to go and read through them.

This was my first time at this... thank you Liar for letting me try.

A heartfelt thanks!

As I'm still not in the swing of this site, I want to use this means to thank all of you for your responses. I've learned quite a few new things, (both good, and bad, grin,) from this thread! A wonderful bunch of people! Uncle Pervey.

1st May 2004

I swear I don't have any arrangement with Laurel or anything, but there are still no new poems posted today. It's the third Saturday in a row that happens...

Hey, thank you for covering my back and filling in for me. And for mentioning my supernova in the process.

Again, thanks.

Here I go again. I did this somew week ago, and I might do it again. What? Oh, just put up a big sign for a new interresting poet on Lit.

Elizabetht recommended a poem ofhers yesterday, but I'll add a few more. The name is quietpoly, and in the last few days she has posted some very strong poetry here. The most and the best of them on a day that didn't get reviewed. If you haven't, check those out:

Arctic Skies
...
It's late.
And yet,
I dare not leave
touch with my feet as I must
every grain of sand
before I go.
...

Fate
...
Red --
wrapped in farewell silk
from father to husband.
Traditional and true
amidst unpreparedness.
...

Insomnia
Eyes flicker
but not as fast as the heart
And the pulse races something back to the mind
as I wrestle with my inertia
and an insane blanket.

"Get up!
Walk and be awake," mind dictates to two cold legs.
But purpose lacks while thoughts run lose.
Like thoughts of early breakfasts
- reckless.

New Poem Things

A few recommendations:

No Kingdom will ever, etcetra!
by Uncle Pervey ©

No Kingdom will ever,
be swapped for a horse!

Would be my #1 Uncle Pervey pick of the day

~

I needed this poem today. It is beautiful.

healed by lavender
by steve porter ©

if you are wounded then try lavender
the sacred scent of the willow moon
and the roman aroma of compassion

~

Another dreamy, thoughful, descriptive poem by drowyn

Welcome
by drowyn ©

Not empty lines
Being cast into waterless pools
But baited hooks
Into the bountiful waters of hope

~

Some harsh realities delivered with a soft touch

The Self
by quietpoly ©

Self requires corporeal.
For Self, Hand creates.
Poetry, art, miniature clocks,
glittering garments, comfort.
Accolades that enhance the Self.

~

Machiavellian
by WickedEve ©

As clever, hilarious, and tell it like it is and as the poet herself, this is a keeper.

PBS is a great place to hear big words.
Machiavellian, you will be mine!
Your deceitful, six syllable ass
is slated for stanza three.

~

My opinions are only mine, I am sure there are poems in there you would love, go get em. Vote, comment, shower with roses.....

the big P

In today's new poems

"I Crave Your Mouth"

Is Pablo Nerudo's Sonnet XI

based on a suspicion, a tip and a check.

I reported it to Laurel

That took some balls for this person to submit Nerudo's poem for their very own! I wonder if the other poem truly belongs to this poet or not.

Thanks for the comments on Machia-whatever. And yes to your roommate request. I really did chug down a load of coffee when I wrote that.

Oh my, who would have thought Neruda was a member here at Lit. And I thought he died.

Wow, you would think they might choose something a little more obscure. And to think it didn't get an "E".

Oh my, goodness. You're right. Neruda didn't get an E. Wow, I feel better about all the times I didn't get one. :D

An E? Hell I don't even get H's....I better write harder and think faster....or something like that....:D

Lauren Hynde said:
Gosh!

I never got an E. Why would some dead guy get one? :p

Mebbe it's like art. You gotta die before somebody appreciates you....

Course, I do appreciate you, babee.....woohoo!!!

I thought it was the big O that captured your attention....

If I keep this up, I better never post another poem again.....

But I love it....

Fooo...

I wanted to quote the Carpenter's today...

but the rains subsided on Saturday. Anyway, it's Monday, May 3rd and we had a total of 49 or so new poems.

Don Delillo once said, if I may paraphrase, that terrorists were the last true artists because they are the only ones who can truly surprise us. Lauren Hynde brings us the terror inside the poet in To Write a Poem.

"But there are bullets, scenes, signs!
to kill and to die without verse

He knows to write is to wrap his soul
in a body of explosives, Al Qaeda-style"

And to follow this explosive poem, is a sestina. In a style more often relegated to pastoral images, Champagne1982 shocks us with A Remarkable Anniversary. You don't read, you experience this one:

"An infant is born in a baptism of blood,
A warrior is wrought in a crucible of war,
So look at all those mighty tin soldiers,
Lined up in files, marching towards death.
We'll remember them in peaceful years,
Maybe even thank them for paying the ransom."

Speaking of form poems, though a couple of twists from all iambic pentameter, The Mutt brings us a sonnet: Huntress.

And thinking of huntresses, Wicked Eve has been out taunting My Neighbor's Dog. With some excellent alliteration she teases that poor devil:

'I cradle him in cuddled conversation, cooing,
"Betcha wanna eat a leg, doncha, boy?" '

Echoes_s brought us a wide range of very good poems. I loved the title of Sepia twirl and I loved the taste and the wordplay in for YDD, Ice cream. Read both, comment and vote.

Another poet hitting the new poems hard was Air2o... my favorite of his many poems was: tonight, tonight.

Several weeks ago I got to travel with my daughter's band up to Dallas. We took a tour of neighboring Ft. Worth and got to visit the water gardens there. You may remember them from the end of the movie "Logan's Run" (oh my, have I dated myself there). Anyway, to avoid boring you any longer with this story, I was reminded of the water gardens with RazzRajen's Still Waters . Take a plunge:

"Rivers run deep
and slow in places,
Hiding their secrets,
carrying untold tales."

The poem's a clue that had me scratching my head, searching for Three down by Chase_Nightshade. A unique poem indeed.

Language can paint amazing pictures, Tathagata paints wonderfully in order To Have You Here:

"dipping our feet off the couch
as if into murky waters
stroking the shore
in an ancient rhythm
by out tropic lagoon
soft music strains float
like milkweed
across our heads and we close our eyes "

It's a tropical island in the living room.

This is getting long so I will follow nightmistress' advice to Finish What You Started. All kidding aside here, it is a sensuous poem:

"Now you have to finish
What you have started
The time for games is over...
So just undress me
Let your mouth
Find its harbor
In my breasts"
.

And, now my favorite of the night. In a stunning presentation of a sultry lounge singer at her best Echos_s gives us a Kiss:

"melting microphone
with wetted sigh
silk whispered
thigh high
blazing sunset glow

she tendered notes
rhapsody
free
flow
contracting
then slow
breathe"

Listen, you can hear her sing.

And those are the poems that grabbed me out of the 49 New Poems. Read them all, you'll find some that will definitely grab you.

Goodbye from Monday, May 3rd, 2004.

And, wait, wait... Now poets, lets be poetic out there.
