The asshat thread is a thread here on Lit where people send harassing, threatening, or unwelcome sexual solicitation messages publicly in order to commiserate with others and shame the offenders into stopping.

The type of message you sent was an unwelcome flirtation with unnecessarily sexual overtones.

It's a combination of things. The suggestive avatar, the unsolicited messages that are overtly sexual and the fact that your posting history is mostly sexual as well would lead most women to either blatantly ignoring your messages or reacting dismissively or hostilely.

The thing is, women simply aren't socialized to be openly sexual and are pressured by our culture to only be sexual when in a long-term relationship, which means most women find easy, free sexuality a direct threat to their own reputation and self-perception.

All you'd have to do is listen to some guys talk about "slutty bitches" for 10 minutes before you'd start seriously reconsidering how you approach women on this site.

Because my answer is going to be the same regardless: Not usually no. There are exceptions to the rule in every situation but again: Women today are NOT socialized to be sexually open. That means taking advantage of our sexuality in order to extract resources from men isn't common behavior.

Women are brainwashed into being relationship-driven and punished harshly when they are sexually liberated.

Yes, some women exploit men, and a lot of men exploit women for sex, by promising them a relationship when they just want to get laid.

Of course, today that's considered "Boys Being Boys", and they're congratulated for having numerous sexual partners.

And yes, I am very cerebral. Being seriously interested in Social Justice issues and Feminism means you have to take a crash course in Learning Your Shit 101 if you're going to speak with any authority on anything.

You handled that well, and exhibited more patience than most - certainly more than I would muster.
