LOL, without feminism, most if not all the women would not be posting on this forum, and many of the men as well...the forum most likely would not even exist and women would certainly not be accepted for choosing what brand of sex they liked, talking about it, and actually doing something about getting it.

I worked in a multicultural feminist organisation where no men worked, no men were allowed to enter (safety reasons), and the staff came from every continent and were from a variety of cultures and they were all under the impression that any woman who was living a BDSM relationship was doing it because she was abused and felt she had no choice and that it was the duty of feminists to share knowledge with them so they could become more assertive and escape. I tried educating them along with some of the GLBT workers I worked with elsewhere who also took part in our projects, but they never really got it and decided that the rule of feminism about it being about a woman's choice shouldn't apply here because they obviously didn't have the power to even see what they had gotten themselves into and basically were victims of male oppression raising it's ugly head again.

Yeah, but I stopped looking for validation from those people when I stopped looking for validation from my mother. I don't allow them to be my mouthpiece. I know there are plenty of feminists who object to porn, and bdsm and whatever else, but I thought of it as more of a debate amongst feminists, not a part of the platform of a major American feminist organization like NOW.

Being GOP and BDSM is like being a Log Cabin Republican. Argh. Read the incredibly compassionate but incredibly insightful piece by David Rakoff about them.


There aren't many of those really left these days, BTW. I think they realized that their money didn't exempt them from being equated with Hitler at the last GOP convention - a really fascinating revision of history to equate gay people and nazis, but it was done.

OK, since the GOP is coming out of the woodwork to dismantle the unfair broad brush, I get it, if you're a fiscal conservative. Hell, I could be called fiscally conservative because I'm wondering wtf happened to the surplus in my state 5 years ago before bridges were sliding into rivers...

Just my opinions:
My sexual lifestyle has nothing to do with my political ethical convictions.
Even though I knew from a young age I wanted to find a dominant partner and live this life, I knew also, this would only be with my husband.
I think marriage is sacred and what a husband and wife engage in is their right as a couple.
GOP is not persecuting sexuality, just defending their ethical convictions based on the Holy Bible, if people don't like it: Vote in 2008!
I would never tell a person to change their sexual lifestyle, but I expect the same respect for my convictions.
Jesus taught us to love all people, but we do not have to love their actions.
Am I sinner?Yes. I will spend more time in purgatory than others for sure.
Would the financial situation of the country be better with a different president? Yes, No , Who knows?

Was raised by liberal hippie parents.
Liberal leadership managed to ruin the welfare/ social system.
Heck the liberal Germans had the chancellor resigned and voted for a conservative ( Angela Merkel).

umm..those people are insane, not Christians. they are extreme and they will be judged on judgment day the same as everyone else. they will be surprised when they find out they are not going where they think they are. not all, hell not even half of Christians act that way.....the 'church' that you are talking about is made up of family members..more like a cult, than a church....
