So how many of the 2650 readers who’ve “favorited” me do you believe are my ALTS?
I’m james r scouries esq. and everyone eventually comes into my world!
I'm home! Did ya miss me?
For days I was afraid you were trapped in the snow. Freezing, your teeth chattering as frostbite invaded your ample breasts. I had visions of icy covered nipples snapping off …
But then I heard on the AHland grapevine that you and little ralphie had eloped and had actually sat out the storm on a Jamaican beach. Lolling naked on the sand while your friends suffered at home.
Quite frankly it was a horrifying thought.
But on reflection I’ve come to appreciate the potential advantages of you and our little friend living together. Surely with you in his bed our SURVIVALIST will no longer have the time to enter 20 stories in every contest. How can anyone write while he’s performing cunnilingus?
And the few stories he’ll be able to produce will certainly be influenced by you. And hopefully also edited by you!
Good luck my dear.
But a life with ralphie? omg...
Oops!
another smart texan...
Perry has been a blister on Texas's ass for far to long. I hope the rest of the US gets a chance to feel him also.
As for you scouries, you don't have to worry since you live in the south of England by your ISP number.
And another lie, you have me on ignore. More bullshit by the master of bullshit.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you know what Scouries ISP number is?
I thought that was only available to those employees of the site?
Are you an employee of the site or do you have a way of determining the ISP addresses of others? Or are employees of the site giving a select few that kind of personal information? Maybe that information is not persona at all, but public.
It's a little disconcerting that we're all so open and exposed to those who have the ability to know where it is we are writing from. Maybe I'm just naive, but I don't think it's right for you to have that kind of information. I feel violated, somehow.
ISP numbers are public information, Freddie. And very easy to track and trace. You don't have to "work" for anyone.
Linux even has a capture program built into it if you know where to look.
So much for that conspiracy theory.
I apologize if you thought I meant there was a conspiracy theory. I didn't know that ISP addresses are a public record and that there is a program out there to capture them.
I guess it makes sense, which is how the FBI tracks the terrorists.
Yet, allow me to take this a step further.
I wrote an essay years ago about readers not voting and commenting and several of the readers wrote me privately. They told me that they don't like to make public comments or even vote for fear that their the site(s) will capture their information.
Now, their comments make sense to me.
Thanks for the info.

There is a poster on the GB I can't think of his name. If you look at his signature it tells you the name of your service provider and your ISP address.
I thought it was a trick so I bookmarked the thread and checked it from work. It came up with the different isp address and internet provider.
I am not a paranoid type but have to say it was disturbing
Almost all Linux operating systems have such a program built in as a safety program for tracking where information comes from. It can be used to block spam and nefarious websites right at the source, so to speak. By checking a few boxes and such you can actually make a list in a file of id's and isp's. Very helpful for websites to track alts and fake accounts for voting and such.
Just because you are not paranoid doesn't mean they are not after you.
Because people have alts for legitimate uses ( which more or less boils down to pen names ) and because alts existing isn't the the problem, it's how people use them.
That's why there are sweeps, and review of forum-based voting.
The tools are used, but not to eliminate the alts simply because they're alts.
Too much time consumption, most likely.
Even with the limited traffic of my website, I spend a fair amount of time banning spam IDs signing up. Genuine spammers trying to promote other websites and scams.
I've had a hundred or so spam comments on my blog in the last 30 days ( none of which ever appeared to the public ) and banned a dozen spam IDs identified by sites that track them before they could post anything on the forum. I've then followed through and reported the activity, adding to the database for the next person who encounters the spammers.
Anything that does get through requires adding word filters to block their scam and trojan laden links from ever appearing again.
It simply takes too much time to deal with the more important things to worry about whether someone is desperately favoriting himself and leaving glowing comments on his own stories to pretend he's anything more than a hack with an enormous ego.
