The "We Love the Lit Ladies" Lounge

Words are a tricky thing. You said it yourself, Constantine, in regards to spammy-guy's poetry, either. (I forget his name, hah.) In that his poetry would have a different meaning to each who reads it... Words are the same way. Cute means to some, something different than it means to others. Cute can be good, cute can be bad. There's puppy dog cute, there's adorable child cute, there's "dateable" cute girl, cute.

I love words.

Of course the great writer is able to write in such a way that ALL of the potential meanings make sense within the confines of the work, and they all progress the work towards a specific destination. Damn, I must be getting tired, I am starting to sound more like a damn English prof.

The "Holy Grail" of Literature would be something so well written, so perfectly written, that there would be no way to completely misconstrue something. Not being confined to one true "definition" but being direct enough for people to get a similar idea from it.

At least that's how I see it. I would assume it's possible for different people to have a different concept of what Literature itself is. :)

Rawr!

I mean that in the cutesy "Roar" sense, and not directly addressing the lovely lady.

Damnit Rawr(The lovely lady) you stole my cutesy saying. *pout*

Aww.. *pout* I'm sowwie.. but at least you'd be doing your cutesy saying every time you say my name?

I swear Rawr; you have an ability to eviscerate a man and arouse him all at the same time. You and Kiwi seem to share in that ability and I really want to know how it works.

Hmm, true. And every time I'm saying your name, I'm also being cutesy? A built in double entendre? I suppose I can live with that.

In that case, I revoke the previous damning! *nods*

edit: Just realized I repeated you, when I meant to state the opposite. *facepalm* Aw well.

I would kindly explain if only I could figure out what you mean by "eviscerate"!

well, to viciously tear apart. I might have exaggerated at bit, but both you and Kiwi can burn a guy and it doesn't just come off as a burn; it also comes off as an erotic and titillating exchange.

Huh, I always thought evisceration centered on disembowelment.

Is that a connotational thing?

Oh I can be downright nasty if I wanted to.

And not in the way the guys would want either.

It is centered on disembowelment, but you literally are viciously ripping at. Context is always at work with language, and the really fun part of it is when you use words in unexpected ways. I love to verb nouns. But literally you are correct.

Of that I have no doubt. My uncle always taught me that you should, "Be fore warned of a woman scorned....hell hath no fury"

I'm sure some guy somewhere would think it's hot. XD

@ Constantine. Fair enough. :) I was simply wondering if I'd known a word incorrectly all this time.

This thread is very enjoyable.. but brb a few moments, crawling into bed with my wireless keyboard. Almost sleepy-times for me. :)

Yeah, I am going to have to be up in about 4.5 hours, and while during grad school I did that almost every night, I am not quite as spry as I was then. Though the pull of Rawr makes it very difficult to tear myself away.

Aw. Well, will the knowledge that I ought to be in bed in a few help you get to bed yourself?

Ummmm, well, It might move me closer to the bed, but I don't know if it will help me go to sleep. I might be indisposed. :)

Mmmm. My bed is so warm and comfy. *snuggles* I even have a body pillow to snuggle with. :D

Oy, 2:20. Yeah, today is going to be a real bear cat. Oh well, it was more than worth it.

I ought to be up at 10 for class, but.. *whine* In these days, being able to watch my classes online makes it a lot easier to wait and watch it later. I love it. :)
