There are no "Second Amendment solutions"

Honestly, this is all becoming a moot point as 3D printing technology takes shape, after which any kind of enforcement is impossible.
A scenario is imaginable where you can be arrested just for possessing a firearm, even if you made it yourself at home.

More importantly, if they were NOT protected, nobody would be any worse off.

Gun rights simply DO NOT MATTER. Nobody needs them. You might need the guns, depending on where you live, but you don't need the rights -- you have nothing to fear from leaving all gun-related questions to your legislature like any other ordinary public-safety issue.
We could all survive in cages with meals provided by our captors. We donā€™t need rights. Us Americans are greedy as fuck.

In the 18th Century or now, any argument based on a "natural right" is bullshit.

There are no natural rights, because -- outside the laws of mathematics, physics and chemistry -- there are no natural laws.
You are obviously not a student of history, let alone military history. You're just some empty-headed loud mouth in here making an ass of yourself.

My read on Politruk is that they come at this with a more 20th century/21st century analysis with strong Marxist influences. It's not a worldview that I share, just as yours isn't. Even so, it's their worldview and I respect them for having their own firm principles. I'm often what one might call a left-leaning independent with strong civil libertarian tendencies and I reject legal positivism in favor of natural law. One might even call me a "left-libertarian," as opposed to a "right-libertarian," which some have defined as a "Republican who likes pot."

I am enough of a student of history, and more importantly of philosophy, to know that the whole natural-rights concept is bullshit.

Meh. Fuck Marx. The socialist movement existed before Marx joined it -- and would have been better off without the pseudoscientific intellectual substructure Marx gave it. His historical determinism was good for revolutionary morale, for a time, but is intellectually indefensible.

Fascinating. Most on the far left tend toward idolizing Marx, as if he is the founder of all socialism and quite infallible. Personally, if I were to choose a socialist model (I'm more of a distributist myself), it would be the Utopian socialism of Charles Fourier.

I'm largely a distributist/left-libertarian with a lot of Stoic, Taoist, Buddhist, Zen, Locke/Montesquieu/Smith/Hume/Rousseau, as well as some Transcendentalist, Kantian, and yes, Nietzschean influences. I like to call my worldview Harmonism, as in it seeks to both harmonize various perspectives and to strike a harmonious balance in all things, between nature and society, between the individual and the community, between meritocracy and social justice, between progress and tradition, etc.

Distributism is more of a pipe dream than Communism. Modern civilization is impossible without large-scale industry -- which cannot exist in a distributist economy, limited to small-ownership.

That distributism began as a distinctly CATHOLIC idea reflects a certain Catholic nostalgia for the Middle Ages.

My version of distributism is a bit more nuanced, but I understand your concerns. Not being a Catholic myself, I am willing to keep the baby and discard the bathwater.

I recall a scene where one Soviet soldier asks another, "What is a wolverine?"

"An animal, like a badger, but fierce. It is also the name of the local sports collective."

The writers did not do the research. No explanation would be necessary -- there are wolverines in Russia.
Maybe the soldier who asked was from the mean streets of Moscow and never saw a wolverine.

Most Americans and Canadians have never seen one, but we know the English word for the species. There must be a Russian word.

Any serious rational discussion of gun control in America has to begin with even the NRA and the GOA admitting that privately owned firearms are POLITICALLY USELESS. You will never use them to fight the state with any hope of success.

Legitimate private uses of firearms are:
1. Personal defense against criminals (not against LEOs).
2. Hunting.
3. Gun collecting as a hobby.
4. Target shooting as a sport/hobby.

And that's all. Insurrection is not on the list.

Why would they admit to a lie??

Who are you to decide what is and isn't legitimate??

Over the last 60 years the US military has a 100% LOSS RATE against people in flipflops and pajamas with AK's and home made munitions.

That's also the scenario where where the pigs and their fuckin' 9mm pea shooters get a lesson in cover vs. concealment.

Right now, "we" are kicking their ass using The First. No need to take up arms against a sea of outraged SNLskit...

The entire thread is based on a poorly constructed straw man that the OP sets forth to destroy. Once you realize that the premise has very little basis in reality the thread makes no sense at all.

I want to take some time to give some praise to our coconspirators on The Left.

They are better at selling guns than the NRA.

Americans voted with their wallets last month when it comes to practicing the right to keep and bear arms, as data suggesting over-the-counter gun sales passed the 1 million mark for the 63rd month in a row.

Last month was the fifth-highest October on record in terms of federal background checks for likely over-the-counter gun transfers since the Federal Bureau of Investigationā€™s National Instant Criminal Background Check System was established over 20 years ago.
