I have some trimming to do myself but that won't be done until Feb. I don't like to mess with the fruit trees while the saps up. I hit the shade trees later in the year after the spring growth has more or less finished and I can tell which way the tree(s) want to go. As long as they aren't threatening property I let them be.

I gotta do the stuff at the porch. I planted it all when it was small, and it grew and is now too fucking close to the house.





I reckon if I cut it back, then it would be manageable to move out away from the porch.

Planting too close is a common mistake. Hell, I sorta know what I'm doing and I still manage to get it wrong half the time. Or maybe my plants are all over-achievers.

Just to see what I could do. Factory new numbers are 45 mpg Highway, 48 mpg City. This was about 1/2 and 1/2. I drove slow and stupid got 60 mpg for that 6th gallon.

I knew that these plants would grow. George Taber azaleas. But I thought it would take 20+ years for them to get where they are in 12. Plus, wet as it's been this year, lots of this growth is new.


And I think they were that small when I planted them. They were layered plants from Mom's old house. They weren't very large when they came here.


Walmart had more people there than I would have thought, but I managed to get what I wanted and get home without being killed.


Or having to kill someone . . . .

I do it the old fashioned way:


I fill the tank to the same point. Yes, this means I am the world's great top-offer. Off-topper? I set the trip meter, and then I do it again when I next fill it. I then do the math on teh fone.


And I have a wee spiral book I write that shit it.


I also add maintenance, like air filters, oil changes, and the mileage at the beginning of each calendar year.

Back from today's errad. It was a Mission of Mercy, really. I had to buy coffee.


It was the Will of Allah that the Usual Place didn't have my Preferred Swill, so I had to go to the Better Store.


Which not only had my brand-n-flavor but also had gorgeous bone-in ribeyes for half price. So I scored three for the girls-n-me.

Now that I've eaten about half of my Covid beef stash, it looks like a price of beef is coming down. I can get New York strips for $3.99 a pound.

Last night I tried to get fish tacos and found a Mexican food restaurant that said it was open till 10 locked up at 9. I was seriously considering voting for Joe Biden and then I realize they just closed the dining room early but the drive thru was still open.

False alarm!

They asked me if I wanted my voter information updated. There was an option not to, so I didn't. Fuck 'em.


It'll keep me from voting for Joe Biden.
