Slow is OK as long as it's done right. Fast is impressive but meaningless if it has to be done over.
Today was a perfect day at the range. Mild temps and no wind. I did learn that my loads with the 208 gr. bullets begin to go unstable beyond 600 yds. Disappointing but not entirely surprising. The 208's are right on the ragged edge of needing a 1 in 9 twist to stabilize and my rifle is a 1 in 10. So I'm dropping back in weight a bit. I can't decide between the 190 gr. Sierra Match Kings or the 178 gr. Hornady ELD Match. So I ordered both. The Sierra's have a higher BC so should buck the wind better. The Hornady's have the virtue of nearly matching my 180 gr. hunting loads and I know that the hunting loads will hold ~.3 MOA out to 500 yds. Back to the drawing board.
