Just rolled in myself. Hot, tired, dirty, feet are sore. Got some Dove but no Quail. The Quail were spread far, wide, and were flying early. I don't think we got within 50yds of them before they flew. Didn't even bother trying to shoot them at that range. Maybe an old 'Market' gun would have worked. 10ga., 34" barrel, full choke but would have been too damn heavy to carry around all day.
It's been years since I've seen the desert that wet and green. Lots of food out there for the birds so it should be a good brood year. Later when things dry out and the birds begin to congregate around the seeps and springs hunting will be a little better.
Oddly enough no sign of snakes. It's rare to be in Quail country and not see a rattlesnake.
We decided to bag it early due to it being a holiday. Late travelers and last minute revelers are on the roads now and the cops know it. The State police were out in force on the trip back. Gotta build that comp time.
Yeah, they were out like street corner Santa's the week before Xmas. I quite sure all "donations" were gratefully accepted. Only saw one dude pulled over and he was cuffed. Disappointing end to a long holiday for him.
A friend of mine has a Kimber. It is a joy to shoot. Light trigger pull, crisp release, super accurate and really well finished. That's the good news. It's finicky about the ammunition you feed it and if the dust's a'blowin' it be a'jammin'. Tight tolerances have a way of biting you in the ass.
It's a hurricane.
How many of your reporters do you have to send out to stand and get soaked
just so that you can tell me a hurricane brings lots of waves and rain...
I did like the cartoon you posted about generators, not wind,
because there is plenty of wind.
At work. The drive is certainly longer. That's okay, because the traffic wasn't bad, so it makes time to visit with Allah.
I got 2 painters is it so far. I'm actually surprised.
I have last month's expense report to write and prepare to turn in, and I have a new employee handbook to try to make sense of. I'd really rather not say I've read it until I have, even if that makes me . . . unusual.
I don't like Makita tools, even if the coffee maker is cute.
Slight cool down here. Rain forecast for the coming weekend.
I went out early this AM to do some light shopping. At 7AM the traffic was like 9AM with every one running late. Friggin' zoo on the roads. Better not be the new norm.
Still looking for a rear sight for that little 9mm. The part houses have them in their catalog, $8, but they're all out of stock. The manufacturer wants $22 for the same part. The search goes on.
