TSCLT 7.0: Hemis, Harleys, Hooters-n-Harridans

BTW, did you see where Xi and his puppet in Hong Kong have withdrawn the extradition law that sparked the demonstrations? I suspect that decision had a hell of a lot more to do with the money flooding out of Hong Kong than any consideration of the protestors.

Indeed, but that was only one of the four basic demands by the protestors.

I think that this might turn out to be an exercise in

Bobbing the Tiger's Tail.

I need to get something off my chest:

We no longer build for shit.

Not ten years ago, we received massive federal funding to build a new bridge across
the Mississippi. It leads to farmland and is very lightly traveled, at best.

But here we are, with the bridge mainly shut down as it undergoes a
massive facelift and repair operation.
They're not fixing potholes, it's like a complete rebuild. WTF???

I'm beginning to wonder where they'll send me next. Allah only knows, and he ain't a'tellin'.

Off to see what fun-n-games the weasels think they're going to pull off today.

Wat may well have Other Ideas . . . .

The Grouchy Old Man died in the wee hours this morning. At least his Earthly Troubles are over. Thanks be to Allah that he had family here tending to him, mostly so I could avoid being the one who found him.

I was ambivalent. He was such a grouch lately.

Turns out he's been a long-term resident here. The manager-lady told me that he used to go out of his way to help the other residents back before he got sick. She was/is genuinely distressed at his passing.

Now I feel kinda guilty for having judged him without knowing what she told me.

I mean, it's not like he's been posting on the GB for the last 15 years justifying all manner of Errant Nonsense.

I'm glad he's not suffering anymore, it's too bad his pain and illness made him such a miserable pain in the ass. There are so many fake and terrible people in the world right now that it's hard to distinguish hurt from horror.

Thankfully coffee doesn't care about any of us, it just sits in the cup waiting to be consumed.

Pleasant day at the range. Just enough of a breeze to keep the bugs away and keep it cool.

Sorry to hear about the old man Wat.

I had to run an errand yesterday after work. I decided since i was driving by the grocery store anyway, I would pick up a couple of things. As I was walking across the parking lot, the exit door opening caught my eye. Then, I realized the entrance and exits doors were opening and closing and there was no one near them. Not a living person, at least. It amused me.

About a 4-5 cycle of doors opening and closing. I was simultaneously making sure there was truly no one around, and fascinated.

I think it's an elegant application of automation technology to cater to those that don't know whether they're coming or going. :)

Home. It was a great outing with the Wednesday crowd. Except that Bearnice wasn't there. :(

I want - kinda - a 1875 Remington reproduction in .45LC. I don't need one. I'm in no hurry, and I sure as Hell ain't paying full retail or even it's 6th cousin for it.

Today would have been Carolyn's b-day. She died several years ago. I know I've mentioned her. She was a real stitch and one of the truly Good Ones, so it's even still more surprising that I met her here. She would really love my "new" little shit Siamese couple. There's a lot I'd tell her, so I have to amuse myself that she already knows.

This could have happened on the Hudson without her excellent work. You get what you deserve....

And the coffee is flowing!

More of the door jokes, less of the dark stuff. There is enough of that right now.
Have some cute stuff instead.

Good morning.

Off to see the Dr. a little later. No big deal, a follow up on another no big deal. I almost feel like canceling but too late now, should have thought of that last week.

Uberti makes an 1875 replica. Fairly reasonable price. A friend of mine has a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 LC that shoots well and looks good too. I used his pistol to qualify for the revolver portion of my CCW (NM has some quirky requirements). My only beef was that his is SS and in certain light conditions picking up the front sight can be troublesome.
