Twenty Somethings

Bank accounts are slowly becoming like cell phones: Everyone has them. I think when I have kids and they get to certain age I make savings accounts for them. Never too early to teach kiddies the value of a buck.

hehe here it is the other way, mobile phones are becoming like bank accounts...

ah, and how do people get credit cards who don't have bank accounts?

No...but credit card companies....at least in America...look at you as fair game the minute you go to college. Probably has something to do with the fact that they KNOW you're broke 99.9% of the time and therefore you think you need a credit card to buy things...and so you buy lots of stuff, put it on your nifty new credit card...then the bill comes, you can't pay it all off at once so you have to pay interest each payment so the credit card companies get more money. So no...colleges don't give you credit cards...but they don't stop people who solicite the cards from going door to door in your dorms....

I should have been more specfic about that. I been getting credit cards offers since I was near 18. I hardly get them now. The credit card people are slick for one thing. They always enitce you with a freebie. As I have learned long ago, there is near anything free. I recently relearned that lesson with my cell phone and free demos of games.

No, I don't have a savings account up yet. I am working on getting to that. Problem is, you have to have at least $100 to start. It might be different when you already have a checking account, but I don't know yet. Soon as I get my ATM/Debit Card and paperwork, I'll be able to understand it all easily. From what all I have heard from them and others who have Direct Deposit Checking account, it really is a good plan.

MyOwn, I just started the account with Second National Bank. My mom uses this bank. Plus, the bank's got a small office inside where I work, so I can easily access my account from where I work before and afterwards, of course.

As far as credit cards go... BIG mistake, or at least ONE of the mistakes I've made in my short life so far. I personally do not recommend getting a credit card at all. Sure, if you got a credit card, it'd be easier to buy certain things from certain places because not all places take debit cards or checks, etc. So, my best advice for you is if you DO get a credit card, make sure you CAN pay back what you spent as soon as possible. Another thing to watch out for of course is that they will upgrade your your maximum spending limit and that's to get you to use it more and it will end up costing you more money in the end.

I got a little carried away when I was younger with money. Credit card and the Dell Financial Account are just some of my regrets, money-wise. I don't regret the computer, but the regret is for HOW I got it. From now on, when I get a new computer, I'm going to make sure I build it. It's cheaper, of course.

And lastly, I learned a long time ago that nothing is free in the world. Therefore, NEVER think anything you get is free, because it's really not free. For instance, although the little signs said they were free, I was buying a few pens and a notebook before I even noticed it. So therefore, I actually spent money to get them.

Well, time for me to go to bed. Got to get up kind of early for work tomorrow. Speaking of work, I got a ticket on my way to work today. According to the state trooper, I was going 72 in a 55 HIGHWAY. I was only going around 65, but oh wells, can't argue w/ a cop. Even though I know almost all the cars I've seen drive the highway have gone just as fast as I have, but I guess I was just one of the lucky caught ones.

And here's something else. The trooper that pulled me over happened to be the SAME trooper that pulled me over a few months back for loud exhaust.

I might get a debit card once I get out of college. I'm trying to build my savings account slowly. I really do not like going to use since i want it to build interest. My mom always then bugs to take money for some reason. It is always different. *sighs* Myabe I should stop listening to her.

Today ought to be fun since I get to go to a party. That is one thing I haven't done all yeat. At least I get in free since the club I am in is hosting. :D Be back tonight you guys.

ha, i had my own party yesterday... my good bye party, in my place... was a quiet party, though at some point there were about 20 people there, more than half of them cramped into my kitchen - weird how everyone at these parties seems to prefer the kitchen over the living room. ah well, anyway, we had good food, and beer and lots of wine - very good wine, i was amazed at how i am not hungover at all today, must have been because it was high quality.

as for the credit cards - i think it used to be like this here that you could only get them if you had a regular income and thus were able to pay them back at some point but now a lot of banks offer special student credit cards if you have an account with them.

i never wanted a credit card because i dislike the idea of spending money i don't have, and because i could use my atm card abroad as well, anyway. but then i got convinced i need about a year and a half ago in spain when i couldn't pre-book hostels (and then had trouble finding an empty one) in some towns, and when i couldn't take the bus i needed to go home from paris, because to book it while still in spain i needed a credit card, and when i arrived in paris it was already full and i had to go a day later...

I had a lovely time at the party I went to. It thrown by a club I am in at my college. I couldn't socalize as much as I wanted to as I was working the drinks. Too bad it rained or we would have a better crowd. My school has two more function for the year that I will definity go to. School is almost over. Yay!

hi... glad to hear you had a nice time at the party... too bad it rained - here the weather was great! we went to the park to meet some friends and for some people-watching... it was really crowded, and some people were playing music, others doing capoeira, others just sitting there... really nice...

Well it sounds like everyone had a good weekend. Mine's been interesting to say the least....Got to meet a couple of the local cops...LOL...nothing bad for me...just an arguement between my friend and her husband that escalated.

Other than that though...been hanging around, doing work, went to the pool today to get some sun, I'm getting nicely tanned which is fabulous...of course I already burnt once...and I'm STILL peeling...so I think it's time to get serious about the whole sunscreen business.

Glad to hear that everyone's been having fun...

ah, better put it on soon... when the skin is peeling the damage is already done... not healthy at all... argh, reminds me of a really nasty sunburn once, when i thought ten minutes after coming out of the sea, i don't need sun screen - afterwards i was not able to sleep on my back for two weeks.

Ouch! I never had a sun burn before. I was never really into the tan business. Today been good except we have a mouse in my house. *sighs* I blame sister personally. So I spent most of the day mouse proofing the house. I wanted to study, but no free time. I better start going up to school early then...

Yay! We caught the mouse using a trap. Put it in a bag and threw in the street. Bye Bye mouse! Now to clean my room tomorrow.

the kitchen is where is action is

Why is it wierd - the kitchen is close to the booze, close to the food, warm, and with all the counters and stuff more cosy than most other rooms

Kitchens rock.

Glad to hear everyone had a fun weekend. I RARELY get invited to parties. I don't know what it is that is reason I'm almost never invited. Oh wells, I don't care. I'm a more laid-back, hanging out type of guy really. Cause when ya'll sittin' around, having a few drinks, and talking to each other, you really have a good time by just talking, joking around, and you even get to know a person well that way.

I went to my brother's apartment last night and hung out for awhile. Some old friends came by and we all just sat around, conversing, and having a good time and catching up on the Who's Who. He left this afternoon while I was at work for Chicago for a week to some automotive class that his company sent him to.

Tonight was a busy night for me. It was going well though, until the last half an hour of my shift. It's really nothing to discuss, but it really pissed me off. Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow, I could use the cooling off. Besides, yet again, the dishes are piled and this time I wanna make sure I get ALL of them cleaned.

Anyhow, nighters!

well except that everyone was complaining about hte lack of music, but that was because all music playing devices were in the living room and i couldn't turn it up any louder there because the few that were there wanted to talk... and i had built up lots of chairs in the living room... but yes, kitches can be nice.

Muna, darling, you just figureing out kitchen are fun? For shame. Kitchen has to be my second fave place beside my bedroom. Now back to watching 24.

well i know they are fun but i decorated the living room and everything... i even did light some candles.

Hmm... you lit candles? Isn't that like expecting romance to happen or something? I don't know nothing about having a party, except of course a big bonfire, lots of beer or alcohol, and of course lots of comfortable seating such as backseats taken out of junked out cars, etc.

No, I'm not a hick. It's just something my brother and I did every once in awhile when we had the wood to burn. It was actually great. It would have been better for me if I wasn't the only one w/out a girlfriend!! That was the only bad thing about the parties... mainly because I ended up drunk on my ass and singing incoherently and crying while everyone else kept running off doing this and doing that and every so often would come back and tell me to shut the hell up.

I repeat, I'm not a hick. Just because I like to wear muscle shirts, happen to want a 4x4 truck, drink whiskey, and used to smoke Marlboros as well as live on a farm (not literally a farm) doesn't mean I'm a hick.

Candles can be used to set a nice relaxed setting. Is that what you were doing, Muna? My mom has candle around the house, but she never wants to light them. That bugs me a lot and I don't know why. Oh well.

LOL...you men just don't understand!! LOL. Women often buy candles because they smell good and are pretty. You ruin the prettyness of a candle if you burn it. Just one of the many illogical aspects of a woman's mind....
