[My Own Way]

Hi My own way, Munachi, Gemini, Hc, NiceGuy and phdbio,

I'm another twen looking to join the club. It's funny, I actually read this thread from the beginning. It was sort of my evening entertainment for the last two weeks while working on a paper, and now I do feel a tiny bit creepy lurking like a stalker . So now that I finally have cought up with the last page I figured I'd say hi .
I'm in college trying to perfect the art of procrastination and if I can't help it I'm doing a bit of nerdy-sciency stuff.

thanks for the tip, I'll check out the German forum. I rather liked your old avatar. I mean the little furry thing is nice to look at, but it doesn't catch my eye quite the same way as you .

well but he was named after stephen dedalus, and i am pretty sure that one was written with e.

anyway, i wanted the brother to be named ikarus anyway, (despite it not being daedalus but stephen dedalus, the names were more often spoken than written so it didn't matter too much) but as my brother named that one, he gave it a different name - igor.

Ugh, just got my so-called "report card"... apparently I failed the class even though I did do work and attended MAJORITY of the time. Must've been the final project or something. I dunno. I'm going to take it again of course, but maybe sometime down the road. However, this is something I will have to learn from like my OTHER mistakes and work EXTRA hard next semester.

Until then, it's all work and no play... well... a bit of play.

what was the paper about? what are you studying? don't know if it is common practice in germany, but where i study there are professors who say that as long as we turn in our papers before htey retire, they are on time...

The paper is quite boring actually. I study physics and worked on improving an instrument for my thesis. So I am more or less

doing engineering now. The paper was a journal article about the results of my thesis.

Most professors in science and engineering will usually cut us some slack when we are late with things, not quite to their

retirement though. Friends of mine who are studying philosophy (well I know it's a science, too. Actually the first science,

but most people tend to ignore that) have it very similar to you. What do you study Muna?

That's a nice avatar, but you're quite far away on this one, so I have to admit the old one is still my favorite .

hi! well i major in latin american studies (which around here is mainly literature, though what interests me most is linguistics), and my minors are czech and romanian. so pretty much a bit of everything, the subjects don't really fit together that well, but such is life. i am already in my fifth year now so it is a bit too late to switch.

well, if i was nearer on the picture you wouldn't see the snow or the crater, and i wanted those to be on the picture too...

They were just in the news over here when I was driving. They seem to have problems with the law over here regularly because of their poor working conditions. This time it was because they did not give their workers a lunch-break. Sometime before it was because of their "ethical guidelines" which said coworkers aren't allowed to date. That sounds like some people in the Walmart management need a new brain .

Yes, I do work at Wal-Mart, and believe me, it's just a job. There's fun times and bad times, but overall it's just a job. Yeah, Wal-mart's big in the lawsuit area these days... sexual harrassment, discrimination, etc.

Hell, their "ethics" on dating is so bullshit. I know several employees where I work who are married to/dating/etc somebody who works in a different department.

Anyhow, from what some people have already told me, to a girl, inviting her to your party or inviting her to go out w/ a group of friends or hanging out is considered asking them out on a date. I actually got called to the office and management had asked me if I have been asking cashiers out, and that it's been taken into thought that it is sexual harrassment. I never asked anyone out, just invited them to come along w/ me and a few friends.

Another thing that pisses me is off they're spending all this money to build new Wal-Marts all over the country where most of them are not even needed and whereas we're always short staffed

It's all bullshit, but it's something I can do for now until I either gradute and fine a good paying ull-ti

Well, I just got home like half an hour ago... need to head to bed.. nodding off.

Damn I didn't Wal-Mart is that bad. Just makes me glad to be NYC which is Wal-Mart free. NYCers ain't having it. Everyone love the small business here.
