USS Dark Fire (IC)

Stardate 29870519.1230

An Hour passed before the Report from the Marine commander came in. There is no armour matching Ensign Cooks description. The Deceased Marine was Xelayan. And a Demolitions expert.

The Civilian, Human, was a horticultural specialist. And did part time work one of the Coffee shops on the ship.

One Security Guard, an Akaali, was recent transfer aboard.

The Medical Officer, Denobulan, had been part of the crew for a number of years, and was in the Ob/Gyn ward.

The Engineering Officer was an Ensign, mostly unnoticed. Perseid species.

“Bioship course and speed unchanged, Captain.” Reeves reported. “Warp 5.1 and holding. Your orders Captain?” He asked double checking to make sure everything was ready for whatever she wanted. “Dark Fire is fully operational.”

Hora

“Commander Reeves, I have been thinking… and we might be approaching this creature in the wrong way. We have been acting like humans. I think we should be more like Orions. I’m going to flirt with the creature.” Hora announced. Everyone was looking at like she was crazy.

“Mollusks have a variety of courtship rituals. It typically involves crawling, touching, and circling. For example, land slugs may circle each other in a clockwise direction for several hours, with their heads facing each other's tails. This circling may help them determine if the other is ready to mate.

Some species of mollusks use love darts during courtship. For example, the hermaphroditic land snail Helix uses calcareous darts to stimulate each other during courtship. When the snails come together, they each drive a dart into the other's body wall, burying it deep in their internal organs. During copulation, the snails exchange sperm, and the snail that fires the dart has a better chance of fertilizing eggs.

During copulation, most mollusks orient themselves so that their genital pores are close together. For example, snails may have two penises that enter two vaginal tracts and exchange sperm. Now that sounds fun to me! Arboreal slugs may copulate in mid-air while suspended by a viscous thread to avoid predators. On Antares, the Jewel Worm Mollusk use their multiple tentacles to fuck each other silly.

Who knew mollusks had so exciting sex lives!” Hora pointed out.

First, let’s move away from the biological. Next turn off all lights on the ship. Then in about 30 mins we move closer again and try circling the creature. Not too close. See if we get a re-action.” Hora suggested.

Stardate 29870519.1245

“You want us to mate with it?” Commander Reeves asked, trying to wrap his head around her directives. “Attention all hands. We will maintain Battle-stations, silent running. All non essential systems power down. Hopefully this will not be for an extended time.”

Looking over at the systems display he watched as power was lowered across the ship, even the external lights were shut off. “Captain, we are at minimal power. Maintaining speed and course.” He called out once all stations had reported in.

For thirty minutes they followed the Bioship, without any chnges.

Thirty-Two…

Thirty-three…

Thirty-Four….

Thirty-five….

“Helm control, bring us ahead slow, maintain an action station facing the Bio-Ship. Rotate us to face the thing, minimum distance 1000 meters.”

Slowly the Dark fire pulled ahead, it’s ‘front’ constantly facing the bio-craft until they were nose to nose and 1000 meters distance. On the ground this was distant. But galactically speaking they were kissing.

“Orders Captain?” Reeves asked watching the holo display, if the enemy ship fired, they wouldn’t have time to maneuver. Thank gods for armour plating.

“Commander no offense… but you are not moving the ship in a sexy way.” Hora gasped

“This is the captain I have the deck and the con” She declared as she walked over to helm control.

“First off… you need to play hard to get.” She back USS Dark Fire away from the biological while nodding the bow of the ship. Then she flipped the ship around and wiggled the ship’s stern at the creature. Then she moved away from the creature.

“Any change of course?” she asked Dark Fire.

“No, Captain” Dark Fire replied.

“Well, I guess the biological is not an ass man.” Hora joked. She moved back towards the creature and backed away in a teasing sort of way. Then she moved in a clockwise direction, circling the biological.

“No reaction Captain” Dark Fire replied.

“I guess we need to show it some cleavage” she said. “Turn on the port running lights and then turn them off. Try a few repetition rates.” She ordered.

“Ensign Miller, you have the con again” Hora ordered while she waited. She walked back over to Commander Reeves. “If this does not work. Let's send a message to the fleet and cloak the ship.” Hora suggested

An hour passed while they tracked the bio-ship without change to speed or course. Current speed projects eight years seven months fourteen days to arrival at Deneb el Okab.”

“We could mark it with a homing beacon. It would puncture the out skin since it’s not metal of any kind. Though that could be determined to be a hostile maneuver.” Reeves suggested.

“And the Doctor sent the first to Autopsy reports over.” he added, “Apparently the infestation? Was smaller than in Ensign Collins. Although no parasite was located the hosts had been infiltrated via the throat. Scar tissue indicated the parasite had burrowed through and attached to the spinal cord.”

“The female Marine was infected via the uterine wall. Possibly during sex. So this parasite doesn’t have just one method of infestation. It has several.”

Hora

“Well, that is disappointing.” Hora commented on the bio-ship not reacting to her flirting.

“I don’t think we should harpoon the bio ship yet. But I’m running out of ideas.” Hora admitted. Then she switched subjects.

“Let’s transmit our fleet wide message. We’ll include the latest information we have on these mimic parasites. I’ll also include a bit about us cloaking, but remaining near the bio-ship for now.”

She nodded towards the comms officer and the message was sent.

The fleet wide message sent on all channels.

“My fellow officers and shipmates of the finest fleet in the galaxy. I fear deep star nine, and possible other elements of the federation and fleet may have been infected about an alien parasite. As a consequence, those being controlled by these parasites are trying to arrest the senior officers on this ship.

As evidence of my concerns. I present the following items:

1) USS Dark Fire was given altered star charts and narrowly avoided a collision with black hole. The chart updates which caused the compromise were from Deep Star Base 9 and the IKS Vor’Cha Class Toh’Kaht, Command of Captain Tel-Pah, First Officer Han-Tihl, Medical Officer Kee-Bhor, Gamma Quadrant.

The Toh’Kaht had been reported destroyed in 2369. According to the official Report, Approximately, three weeks after departure from Deep Space 9, the Toh'Kaht returned through the wormhole a month ahead of schedule. Immediately after clearing the mouth of the wormhole, the vessel exploded. Further investigations found that the ship had been sabotaged and was destroyed by a thalmerite device near the ship's reactor core. Hon'Tihl was the only survivor of the explosion, but died shortly after beaming to the station.

The Official report had been signed off by then Captain Daniel MacPherson, Commanding Officer of Deep Space 9, the only person to speak with Hon’Tihl before his death.

2) USS Dark Fire trans-warp was damaged and under repair, this prevented USS Dark Fire’s return to deep star 9.

3) USS Dark Fire believes Vice Admiral Roanoke and Captain Marcus were murdered. Attached is our evidence of Captain Marcus’ death. We have evidence of Vice Admiral Roanoke’s murder, but I can’t share it at this time.

4) Orders received from Deep Star 9 have been erratic and not lawful. See attached unlawful orders.

5) USS Dark Fire found a “mimic” creature inside Ensign Collens. See evidence. Transporters were used and we found additional mimic creatures. See attached evidence.

6) Dark Fire AI has been checked. AI passed our checks

7) USS Dark Fire is currently involved in a first contact situation. The ship is located near a bio-ship and cloaked. We will keep the fleet informed of our location.

8) USS Dark Fire plans to return o deep star 9 at first opportunity

9) USS Dark Fire will not fire upon or engage in a hostile manner any federation/fleet ships.

10) USS Dark Fire will not turn over this vessel without solid evidence that Deep Star 9 command personnel are not comprised.

This crew and my officer team remain loyal to the principals of the federation and fleet. I send this message as evidence to our commitment to those principals.

Captain Hora

Commanding Officer

USS Dark Fire

Commander Reeves

He didn’t agree with Captain Hora’s methods or the direction she was taking this pattern of events. But she was the Captain and he’d obey. Unless she committed treason. At least nothing so far had caused damage to the ship as they continued following the Bio Ship.

“I recommend we cease following the Bio-Ship. It’s journey is years in the making and we haven’t made any progress in the attempts at communication. And with the intruders aboard ship we have more pressing matters in dealing with them.”

“And dealing with whatever is happening at Deep Star 9, and possibly the rest of the fleet.” He reminded her

Hora

“Talking to deep star nine. That might be interesting. But also very dangerous" Hora replied

She stared at the various consoles on the bridge, each providing important information to the different operators. Each console operator, each stations feeding data and status to the XO and to her. It was a lot. Which bit of information to pay attention to, which to discount, or deal with later. It was why there was only one captain on the ship. Someone had to make the final decision.

She looked back to Commander Reeves “Ok, but we need a plan.”

“Helm, back away from the bio-ship. Return to our repair distance” Hora ordered.

“Aye, captain” Ensign Miller replied.

“Want to assemble a team and do some planning?” Hora asked Commander Reeves.

“I recommend the same closed group meet tomorrow at 0900 hours and we find out about the autopsies and Holodeck then, and security should have more information about the comings and goings of the dead people.”

“We might even get lucky and the Chief Engineer can tell us what the metal is.”

“Maybe we can even get a result from someone about the Bio-Ship.”

“But bluntly, we’ve been on red alert, yellow alert, Battle stations and Action Stations for nearly three days. I’m exhausted and need to meditate and sleep.”

He wasn’t about to tell her he hadn’t been with his wife in almost a week. She’d probably ask to join them. Or observe. And he wasn’t comfortable with either action.

Hora

“Commander Reeves, go back to your quarters and get some rest.” Hora ordered.

“Officer of the deck, please stand down from red alert. Keep the shields, and the intruder detect system up, and keep us cloaked. Call me if anything changes” Hora ordered and she too departed the bridge.

Lt Sol

A group of 4 T’surr walked towards Zosh’s land-scooter with smiles on their faces.

T’surr were considered one of the galaxy's most deadly predators. T'surr had four arms and razor-sharp teeth to defeat their prey. They often scavenge their victim's technology and ships for themselves. They also wore trophies of their kills on their belts.

They look down on anyone weaker than them, viewing them as livestock to be sold into slavery.

Zosh noticed all of these thrugs had Twi’lek skulls on their belts. One of the skulls looked like Lt Bumme.

Thrugs stepped out of the alley. They looked at where Lt Sol vehicle was parked in the old apartments area of dynosphere. This was an area where drugs were sold. Buying drugs required money and the land-scooter was money! If they killed Zosh, the scooter would be worth a few hundred credits.

“We are taking your scooter” one of them said to Lt Sol.

“No, you are not” Zosh said firmly.

“Then you are going to die!” One of the blue skinned T’surr declared grabbing both of Zosh’s arms

“OK ASSHOLES… NOW YOU GET A BEATING!!” Zosh yelled. He pulled one of his arms free and punched the T’Surr holding him. The man flew backward like he had been hit by speeding space ship! He slammed into the stone wall of the apartment building with a thud.

Another thrug tried to grab Zosh. But the dinosaur reacted quickly, slamming his elbow into the T’surr mouth. Zosh blood spray across the creature’s face, but the blow broke the T’Surr jaw.

“ARGGG” a third tackled Zosh to the ground trying to pin him. He would not be pinned, but it took a few moments to break free of that T’Surr gripe and get back up. The fourth T’Surr grabbed him with all four of its arms. He was in trouble!

Then out of nowhere, Lt Bumme appeared welding a crowbar and smashed the nearest T’Surr in the head. It was a sick sound as the crowbar cracked open the T’Surr skull and its brains splashed across Zosh’s face.

Zosh grabbed the last T’Surr by his leg trying to flip him over. But the T’Surr was too strong for that. It also ducked away from another swing of the crowbar by Loka. Zosh use the back of his head to smash into the T’Surr chin. This sent the thrug staggering backward. The crowbar smashing him in the face in another display of blood and broken teeth.

“Computer end simulation” Zosh said

Everything disappeared as the holodeck became visible again. Everything except Lt Bumme. She was standing there with a big grin on her face.

“That was fun!” She said.

“It is rude to enter a holodeck when someone else is using it! What if it was something more… private!” Zosh protested

“That would have been even more fun! I wonder what kind of porn you like? I’ll bet it is super kinky!”

“That is not for discussion” Zosh said

“I noticed those T’Surr had Twi’lek skulls on their belts. One looked like me? Are you working through something?” Lt Bumme asked

Zosh looked down at his clawed feet as his large tail swished back and forth. “I guess I was… I feel bad about knocking you out” He admitted

“Well, don’t.” Loka said “I like a powerful male.”

“I thought maybe I was a bit too powerful” Zosh said

With a grin on her face, Loka said “If you get too powerful, remember, I know how to use a crowbar”

Careful not to lean back to far in the chair Commander Jordan Reeves wondered how long it would take fore his back to heal. Things had gotten energetic last night after he’d manipulated the pressure points in her spine she’d turned and mounted him. And then she’d started raking his back, encouraging hm to go harder and deeper.

Unfortunately, now his back was sore. And covered in claw marks from his wife's fingernails. For the last few hours, he’d been going over reports, so he mostly knew what to expected. Once the Captain entered and sat he nodded to the Chief Medical Officer

“Captain, Commander,” Dr. Grissom began. “I sent over the autopsies last night. But for everyone, the alien treated these hosts differently. It attacked the base of the neck and inserted itself into the cranial cavity. And these were smaller. Much smaller. ‘d say the first was in the forty pound range, these were maybe a half pound each. They bypassed the central nervous system and quite probably could have left the host alive.”

“They didn’t. I didn’t find any foreign material or DNA, just evidence of what it did. And it’s definitely Hostile.”

Looking over at the Captain and the Commander Tyrande spoke up. “The six hostiles infiltrated a number of systems, systems they shouldn’t have been able to access. I’d almost think it was Borg, but it’s not their style. But multiple people were using skills they were never trained in, at least not according to their files.”

“As for the Marine that attacked the Ensign, I’ve personally gone through all the armour. Although different pieces could be put together, it would only make 64 percent of the armour to match her description. However, I did do a cross-match on the armour across the fleet. It’s a match for a very specialized set. It hasn’t been used in several centuries. It was attached to something called Section 31, but I’ve found no further reference to That Section or the armour.”

Making sure the Chief was finished Dr. L’Sa spoke up. “We’ve used every form of light and radiation we have access to as well as DNA samples from every crewman aboard. From what we’ve been able to determine the Bio-mass thrives in Gamma Radiation, Red and Yellow type stars are a natural source of this Radiation, and they consume any biological matter. Including that of what The Federation classifies as sentient and/or food based biological matter.”

“If the Bio-Ship continues on course My calculations indicate it will consume all life on the planet within forty-nine standard days. Granted it will take several years for the ship to get to the planet, but Starfleet should be ready.”

“Ensign Stonn has succumbed to the biological conversion. There is no Vulcan DNA remaining.” Tapping a control, she brought up a holoimage of the biological.

OIP.jpg

“Have you decided what you’ll be naming the species, Captain?”

“Captain, Dr. L’Sa and I have been to the P'Jem simulation on your holodeck and we’ve discovered something unusual. There is a room neither of us is familiar with.”

Hora

As Hora listened to the report, she thought of a saying she heard once. “Sometimes looking for answers only leads to more questions. And sometimes you're better off not knowing.” She thought the saying was bullshit. She had always felt she was better off knowing than not knowing. That was the scientist in her. She just needed to know.

“Do we think we found all the parasites? Can our intrusion detection barriers detect these parasites? Can the ship sensors be adjusted to detect them?” Hora asked

Then she moved on the second development.

“Section 31? What the hell is that?” Hora asked.

As they moved on to the fate of Ensign Stonn. Hora was upset. She had hoped they could have found a way to save him. The lost of the crew members from the parasites saddened her more. Then they asked her about the name of the species. She was not in a mood to be asked that question.

“We can name the species in honor of Ensign Stonn… but that is not important. Is the species intelligent? Have we tried to communicate with it? Right now, given all the evidence we have it is not. Or if it is… it is hostile to other peaceful species. I will defend the federation against hostile species”

The last report was on P'Jem simulation on the holodeck and an additional room.

“And? What is the room, what is inside it? why is it there? Why is someone sending us a message about a holodeck simulation on our ship that has an extra room?” Hora asked. She thought of that saying again “Sometimes looking for answers only leads to more questions. And sometimes you're better off not knowing.” Maybe the saying was not total bullshit.

“Any thoughts about our conversation with deep star 9” She asked

Stardate 29870520.0930

“No,” Aegeri replied. “We’ve not been able to find any of the actual parasites, only evidence of where they’ve been. As for the security grids, we don’t know. They could be trapped int her area’s they are in, or they could be ignoring them. Until we manage to capture one or more of them, we won’t know if we can adjust the sensors to detect them. Most likely yes, but apparently, they are VERY good at hiding.”

“As for Section 31, I have no clue. Probably some obscure defunct group of one of the various government agencies before Starfleet. OSS was a American Human Agency during the nineteen hundreds, it was replaced by the CIA and both of those are now defunct. And both had their hidden groups. And only a few historians know of the CIA and OSS. And many of those obscure groups never had names.’

“And that’s just the Human ones, most races had them before joining the Federation. And I’m fairly certain some of them still exist. Maybe even this Section 31. Shall I continue investigation this line of thought?”

***

“Is the Biological Intelligent? Yes. It stopped twitching and is sitting staring at a wall. According to trajectory... it’s staring where the Bio ship attacked the hull.”

"We thought for a minute that it was looking at the Bio-ship itself, but apparently not."

“As for communicating with it, we’ve tried everything. Every known language. Radio, Audio, light, radiation. It may be as smart as an Earth Dog, a Klingon Targ, or even a Vulcan Seh’lat.”

***

The Ambassador raised an eyebrow as she tried to describe the room. “Angular walls, ten of them fashioned in a circular pattern making the room more round than square... Eight raised cushioned seating area’s with... fabric draped virtually everywhere. A fire pit in the middle of the room with what appeared to be a small porcine animal, or small targ, covered in a fruit glaze and smoked. On a circular table beneath the animal, and surrounding it are a variety of dishes that appear to be sauces and fruits.”

“The air in the room is... scented. Spices. Possibly Orion in nature Or Earth Middle Eastern. There were no sounds, and the holodeck denies the room being there. But Dark Fire does confirm the pattern in the layout, but has no explanation other than ‘room’.”

Hora was happy as her questions produced better information for planning. First, she answered the security officer’s question.

“Yes, please look into this Section 31”

Then she talked about the creature.

“So the creature is staring at the place the bio-ship attacked the hull. Have we done a complete analysis of that area? Any residuals? Even at the micro-level? Please have a team do a complete analysis” Hora ordered.

“Now as far as the holodeck. Maybe Ambassador M’Chel and I should investigate. I have my doubts about it being Orion. With a targ there, it might be Klingon. But Ambassador, do you mind making another trip to the holodeck?” Hora asked

Stardate 29870520.0945

“We can’t perform an external analysis at warp speed, and we’ve been at Warp almost consistently. Dark Fire has scanned the area but has detected nothing.” Reeves reported.

“I’ve been there multiple times already doing research into this investigation. What is one more excursion?” The Ambassador replied.

After entering the Holodeck and walking the halls of P’Jem with the Ambassador pointing out the incredible accuracy of the simulation as the went down several levels they entered a room.

“In the real P’Jem this room doesn’t exist,” she informed Captain Hora. Inside it became clear to the Captain what this was. It was from a very old Orion Transport ship. What Humans called a ‘slaver’ ship. Orion males would liberate females and returning them to Orion, sometimes entertaining guests in this room. Made to augment the already powerful pheromones, this room made it very easy to entice male Captains to do what they wanted.

As soon as M’Chel and Hora entered the room the whole image changed to the Desert of Vulcan. A woman walking from the blowing sand mist to approach them. “I apologize for this manner of contacting you Captain but I had to make sure you weren’t controlled.”

“This image has been created with a brain scan of myself and as such will be capable of answering many questions, but only ones That I myself have answers for.”

Hora understood she had been wrong. The space did look just like an old Orion slaver ship. Then everything changed. The desert of Vulcan. She sure hoped no sandfire storm would pop up. Those types of storms occur in Vulcan deserts and are very deadly. Strong winds, blinding sand, as well as lightning discharges of electricity close to the ground.

The woman walking out of the desert was unknown to Hora.

“Who are you?” Was Hora first question followed by “Controlled by who? Please tell me all you know”

“I am T’Les of the Vulcan Science Directorate,” The woman replied as she guided them to a cave entrance. “A Sandfire Storm Comes, they are common here in the Forge.”

As they entered the cave it led them deeper inside until it slowly changed to underground hallways. “We discovered at least one new species, or they may be two branches of the same species working against each other.”

“We haven’t gathered definitive proof as to their motives and at first we thought the Changelings were moving against us again. But the anti-founder weapons are ineffective.”

“Captain Marcus Was working with us to find out how deep the infiltration had spread, unfortunately he was killed in an accident before he was able to make a report to us. His contact was also killed.”

“Everything we could determine indicated you were not infected so we had you moved into place aboard the Dark Fire so we could maneuver the ship to a safe location. And prevent its capture by the enemy.”

“They will stop at nothing to get that ship,” T’Les told them. “Deep Star Nine is hostile territory. Anyone not against us is a tool of the enemy and should not be trusted.”

“We do know that they have a base called Tarn’Vedra but it’s location is unknown to us. Other than it’s in the Andromeda Galaxy.”

Hora

The holodeck image provided a lot of important information. It made her feel like she was not crazy or paranoid. But she still hoped there was more holodeck image could tell her.

“I did observe several mind control races visiting Vice Admiral Roanoke before his death. A Betazed, a Vulcan, Ullian, and a Psi Corp officer. My guess is they pulled information from him and then killed him. Or are they on your team?”

“A few more questions… Do you know anything about Section 31?

We used our transporters to find the Parasites. Does that work? It did kill those infected. What is the difference between the good ones and the bad ones? Any way to detect them?” Hora asked.

“Vice Admiral Roanoke was working with us at the time of his death. Theoretically the forced extraction of the information directly from his mind could have caused the Cerebral Hemorrhage that killed him.”

“Unfortunately I’ve never heard any reference of Section 31. Without further information I can’t help you with that.”

“Transporters to find the parasites? The hostile entities could possibly be affected by the transporter system, but I was not aware of the possibility before. As for telling them apart, we have not yet detected any method for that. Just as it is not possible to detect a good human from a bad one.”

Hora

“Thank you, this has been very helpful. If you could provide a list of the people who you know have parasites that would be helpful. I think I’m going to try and find out if Captain Marcus hid any information about the creatures on the ship somewhere.

I’m going to redirect most of the science teams to start working on detection technology.

We will come back here to make reports and share data. Your insights will be most helpful.

Ambassador M’Chel did you have any questions you wished to ask?” Hora offered.

Stardate 29870520.1030

“Of course, we would send a list if we had names to give. We know you, LtCmdr Reeves, Dr. L’Sa, and The Ambassador are not infected, at least we hope you are not, or all is lost to us. Anyone else in the crew is an unknown factor.”

“When you return, only A Vulcan that has undergone the Trials by Fire can guide you to this cave. And anyone infected, has problems accessing old memories. We haven’t determined the precise age of the memories, but childhood thoughts are difficult. Possibly damaged in the process.”

When asked if she had any questions, The Ambassador shook her head no. “If the way back has not changed, I can lead us out.”

“No, the way has not changed. And if you ever encounter anyone other than myself within this place. Then I am dead, or no longer myself. And I would much prefer the former.”

Hora

Hora and Ambassador M’Chel made their way out of the simulation.

“When I was young, I had a Felt-Ringed White Russla for a pet.” Hora told M’Chel. “Just in case you need to make sure I’m, me”

As they departed the holodeck Hora pressed her communicator

“Dark Fire, where is Commander Reeve located?” She asked

“The Bridge” Dark Fire replied.

Hora headed for the bridge. “Dark Fire, please let the science leaders know, I want a strong focus detection technology for these parasites.”

She stepped into the turbolift and a few seconds later, she stepped out on the bridge.

“Captain on the bridge” The OOD called out.

“I have the deck” Hora stated. Then she walked over to Commander Reeves.

“Figured out the puzzle of the room. I can tell you all about back in my cabin. For now, however, I’d like to make sure we don’t have a problem with our hull. I’m going to drop out of warp. So, we can do a complete inspection. What are your thoughts and who should do the inspection?” Hora asked.

Reeves noticed that Hora looked less green than when he first met her.

Stardate 29870520.1045

Pausing in the hallway, Dr. L’Sa looked at her “As a young child Before the Kahs-Wan and Rite of Tal'oth through the Cheleb-Khor, I was required to separate from my pet Sehlat which I had named k’nurt which is a small rodent on Vulcan similar in nature and breeding capacity as the Earth Rabbit.*

(In essence she named a pet giant sabertooth bear … "bunny")

Stopping just inside the bridge L’Sa paused and looked at her husband. After speaking with the Captain for a moment he touched two fingers to her left temple as she did the same to his. Both closed their eyes for a minute before touching the fingertips together and Dr. L’Sa left.

“Engineering should do the inspection as they’ll have a better understanding of the structural integrity of the hull, they can do this from a shuttle viewport so no physical contact will be made. In case they’re ha been biological contamination of the ship.”

“Chief Aegeri has sent a report about the quantity of quasi legal narcotics that have been confiscated in the last security sweep specifically Nepeta Cataria, the Caitains have taken to ingesting it on a rather frequent, and increasing, basis, Medical has supplied several reports on it’s… overly relaxing effects. Similar to Cannabis Indica which has been outlawed on Federation Ship due to its mind-altering states. Although allowed for religious ceremonies and controlled, Cataria has no controls. Humans call it catnip and give it to their feline pets.”

“Specifically LCdr. Shino Mc’Leo has made several complaints against Chief Aegeri for ‘being the man’ and ‘stealin my grass’.”

“Are you feeling alright Captain?” Reeves asked. “You seem pale. Should you go to medical? Is this an emergency?”
