Not only is Dick Cheney not a veteran (at his confirmation hearings for Secretary of Defense, he famously told the Senate he had "other priorities" during Vietnam), Liz herself is the reason why her father didn't get drafted. In 1965, the draft rules were changed so that married men were eligible for the draft, unless they had children. Guess who was born nine months and two days later?
