Wondering about your thoughts on this:

Let me do this one at a time. I think that video pretty much hits the history on its head.

The FBI Miami clusterfuck was probably more an issue with their own arrogance first and and their tactical training second than any issues with the cartridge, so they blamed the cartridge. How Hooveresque "there is no Mafia" thinking of them.

The original 10mm is hot. I like it. I have 2 of them, one is a Glock. Frankly, recoil does begin to be a bit of a bitch in the Glock, which is lighter than my 1911 double-stack, which is easier to shoot. I'd like a 10mm single stack 1911 as I think that would be the best alternative. That's Wat's Project 2025, so to speak.

I never liked the .40S&W - S&W standing for Smith and Wesson, but sarcastically called Short and Weak. A lot of people like it. Okay. They can have mine. I've had three Glocks - a model 23 and two model 22s. I currently have a Sig model P226. I also had a Beretta 96. The Baretta was the best of the batch. I never replaced it after it was stolen. As my friend Chris (RIP - a good man gone too soon) said about a gun he bought and then sold, "I just never bonded with it." Wat never bonded with the 40-cal.

The .45ACP is still relevant. It wasn't adopted by the FBI in the 80s and the video told you why - politics. The 9mm is also still relevant. I have 3 Sigs in 9mm, and the biggest advantage as I see it/them is, there are a lot of projectiles in the magazines, and they can all be jacked downrange in very short order. It's the Wall Of Lead theory. The .45 is more of a One Shot Stop. Neither is all that good at penetrating barriers or stopping wildlife. The 10 can do that better, and rifles are best.

Nines are probably best all around for arming the masses. The 1911 in .45 is also really good for the same reasons. Hand sizes vary, as was pointed out. There is also the matter of each cartridge's being ubiquitous.

My main carry gun these days is a Sig P229 in 9mm with 13 rounds of what Wat fondly refers to as "cop killer" ammo - very high velocity hollow points with nasty jacketing material. The 21st century version of the notorious Black Talon.
