Who do you think will win?

I used to hang out there. My old friends don't seem to be around there much anymore. I mean, hell, Ogg is apparently dead, a real nasty shock to learn of that.
Yeah, there’s a few names from my time there, but most have moved on. OGG passed awhile ago.

^^^ So is TxRad.
I didn’t know about him, but searched and it was earlier this year. Was a good guy.

In any case, I was one of the OG Never Trumper Republicans. I've never been a fan of him since he ran for it in 2015, though I considered it when he floated his run in 2000. I liked him a lot more back then. No, he's not a classic, Reaganite conservative. His political ideology is ever-shifting, aside from a few issues like trade. He is, however, a patriot in his own confused, almost Taft-like manner. In some ways, he reminds me crudely of the Birchers (I would know, I was one briefly before leaving their camp). I was strongly inclined to back Kennedy, but that's no longer an option. There are no good choices left for me.

Yes, he'll be greatly missed.

I still lean towards the fringe candidates, but it's time to be an adult and vote for candidates who have some chance of winning. If I really don't like the Pub or the Dem, then I should just leave that race blank and spend less time voting. I may have less than half a ballot to mark. I see mostly seatwarmers here.

I commend you for leaving half of your ballot blank.
I, on the other hand, unapologetically "vote blue no matter who".
I live in a shining blue oasis in Texas, and these blue oases subsidize the red "cousin fucker" counties to an alarming degree.
My zipcode was redistricted to the district of Wes Hunt, a congressman devoid of honor. I will proudly cast votes against him and Eduardo Rafael Cruz as well.

"Fair and clean" is a MAGA dogwhistle for "the only way we lose is if the other side cheats, so it's gonna be all 'lawfare', all the time"

Trump realizes there is a better-than-average chance that he will lose both the popular and electoral vote once again, so he's laying the groundwork now to claim that "Democrats Cheated!"
“Fair and clean” is a dog whistle for weird male and white.

I believe Kamala will win. I also believe any legal avenues the Trump camp takes will lead nowhere, again. We will not have another J/6 because Trump will not be in office to withhold help. Help will be immediate and overwhelming if it’s needed at all.

At this point, whoever wins, Harris or Trump, we're all fucked.

Whatever lead Kamala had is slipping. Her interview which will be aired later today will only make that slide progress further and faster.

Either way, civilization is categorically fucked, along with everyone in it. I require modern medicine to survive. I won't last out the year once it all collapses, and it will. I give us, to be generous, maybe until the year 2029 or 2030. If nothing else destroys us, climate change will. There's plenty of other candidates for that, too. I don't agree with many of the impractical solutions to climate change, such as in the Green New Deal, as they would also collapse human civilization and probably wouldn't prevent climate change, but that doesn't make it a hoax.

None of that changes the fact that the geriatric GOP patriarchy robbed women of the right to make their own reproductive care decisions.

America is ready for female leadership. Incels can grasp at straws.

I'm ready for sensible leadership. I don't give a shit if it's provided by a man or a woman. Neither Trump nor Harris qualify as sensible in my book. Matriarchy is just as bad as patriarchy and antithetical to gender equality on its face.

People lionizing Kamala when I know far too much about her to buy the rhetoric is....nauseating. In the end, though, I stand by my position. We're all fucked. Everyone should invest in an AR-15, gold, canned foods, bottled water, and whatever else might keep you alive through it. I already know that I won't survive without modern medicine, so I've made my peace about my certain death. I feel a lot worse for my granddaughters, who will have to live through such an awful time. History is cyclical, not linear. We're unlucky enough to be at the down side of the cycle.

If it's any solace, the whole of MAGA is as infirm physically as they are mentally. I smile when they darkly hint at the upcoming Revolution they plan on starting. They don't realize that once the Revolution starts, their automatic refills of their maintenance prescription drugs will stop. All the ammo and shiny pew-pews in the world will not stop hypertension, blocked arteries and peptic ulcers from decimating their decrepit ranks...and these are generic drugs. Three or four weeks into their "Revolution" their untreated medical conditions will take an enormous toll on their fitness to fight, since the majority of MAGA is upwards of 65 years of age.

Yes, Ogg is dead. That guy gets my most sincere epitaph: He lived a life in full.

When serving as a lowly "leftenant" in the RAF, Ogg had the unenviable duty of being the sole military member to remain above ground during nuclear attack alerts. His job was to report any and all mushroom clouds above English soil to those safely down in the bunkers and knew he'd be incinerated immediately once he did his duty.

He fought his cancer valiantly. Given six months to live, he somehow managed to stretch that out for two more Christmases, living a total of 30 months post-diagnosis. I began to think of him as nothing short of invulnerable. It was still a bit of a shock when he announced he later thought the end was upon him, and passed "suddenly' (for him, anyway) in a matter of days.

He had a droll, very British sense of "humour", which I admit I didn't always get, but he was a true character.

Ogg was a good 'un.

The "preppers" had two trial runs here in Texas in the past seven years: Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and the Texas Freeze of 2021. Both times, the preppers failed miserably.

They were crying continuously online and on TV about their failure to stockpile two essentials: Toilet paper and propane tanks. Five days post-Harvey, they were wiping their asses with their hands or notebook paper, had this continued I believe Texas was on course to have the first American cholera epidemic in its history.

And they were shocked....shocked! That they could no longer swap out their empty propane tanks at Walmart. Soggy wet firewood was a piss-poor substitute.

But hey, on a positive note they had a shit-ton of Dinty Moore Beef Stew stockpiled and most of them even had can openers! Didn't taste very good eaten cold out of a can, though.

That might explain the big run on TP in 2020. People remembered their failure in 2017. I'm not saying that it's good news, at any rate, and it probably won't happen in a quick or sudden fashion. More of a slow, but steady downhill slide that creeps up on most people, but quickens toward the end.

The Great Texas Toilet Paper shortage of 2020 brings back fond memories.

My company had accidently ordered twice as much toilet paper as needed the previous fall, and we didn't have the space to store two entire pallets of TP.

I offered to purchase one of the pallets outright at 80% of cost, and stored it in my garage. It was commercial grade 1-ply stuff...ugh. Then the TP shortage hit and I was one of the most popular guys in my county. I bartered just about all of it away (120 double rolls) in less than a week.

Good times.

Oh my goodness, your deflection into absurdity absolutely destroyed all those facts.

[/sarcasm]

Us women with daughters and trans kids do not have the privilege to feel that way.

It's a Right, not a privilege. You have a RIGHT to feel any dam way you please. You just don't have ANY Right to foist your beliefs onto other people by force.

Which is what you're trying to do.

Look in the mirror Arpy, you do the exact same, trying to impose your beliefs on others, and when that fails, enormous meltdowns occur.

Lie.

My OPINIONS are my Right under the 1st Amendment. Notice that I DO NOT attempt to use ANY force to require that you adhere to them in any way, shape, or form, other than a flat statement to obey the law.

I have NEVER stolen a yardsign, assaulted anyone over political differences, rioted, burned a building or a police car, or anything else the Left routinely does in order to push their political and social agenda onto other.

So, what you say is an intentional and knowing lie.
