overweight vs. obese....one is a big mac instead of a salad....th other is the whole buffet instead of liposuction...

the problem is that most people have no idea what they are talking about...they only respond to their feelings and experiences...if a person finds overweight people unnattractive and has never been overweight, then "obese" is 20 pounds or so...

that may be the problem with most of this thread...we are talking obese here....not "chubby" not "fat" not "could lose 20, 30, or 40 pounds" but true obesity is a proven medical problem with drastic physical and psychological ramifications.

I, myself am overweight. about 20 pounds or so...that is because i tend to be lazy...i dont see the point in overt excersize. i dont like it...i come from a family of very OBESE people...i hope to never be one of them...not because they are unnattractive, but because they cant walk, run or fuck the way they want to.

now about the BDSM "crowd"....i have seen no increase in the weight of the people in the circles i frequent. granted they are small circles, but shouldnt this be a problem in all circles if this is a true hypothesis?

Logically, if more BDSM practitioners were obese than the same logistic group of "normal" people, no matter what sample group you take wouldn't you see those results?

True, i do see some obese people in these circles, however, i see more obese people at work (at a restaurant) than anywhere...would that mean that all food cooked outside the home is the cause of obesity???

If we work on the premise that BDSM = Obesity
and Obesity is due to eating out,
Eating out is because they have extra cash to spend,
They have extra cash because they have well paid job.
They have well paid job because they are intelligent,
they are intelligent and have worked mentally hard to prove it,
The hard work has paid off and they can afford to sit and watch TV; primarily Dr Phil, Oprah and soaps (of course!)
When watching TV they snack before going out to eat (as they have spent too long working to learn how to cook),
Eating out = Obesity
Obesity = BDSM.

Does it then follow that all BDSM practioners have well paid jobs, highly intelligent and have worked to prove it, cannot cook, eat out, watch TV and are obese.

OR that all TV watchers are obese or secret BDSMers?
Or that people who cannot cook are also BDSMers?

The correct answer, of course and according to the world of shyslave , is that all BDSMers' are highly intelligent!!!

I think that kind of proves the point. Since body/fat % and sexual polarity aren't likely to show up on the census anytime soon, the best we can do is make educated guesses. And the very fact that this discussion has gone on for so long seems to prove to me that most of us think there's a lot of chubby subs.

I think there's a lot of truth in it.

I used to live near the Bovine Sex Club in Toronto, which became my neighborhood pub...as a kinkyalpha kinda guy, you couldn't ask for a better local.

After a while, you get to know who the real scene particpants are from the tourists and the losers.

The regulars were mostly IRL sceners, and would wear regular clothes, speak politely, remember your name, invite you to events and functions and parties...a genuine community of kink.

The tourists came in droves on the weekends in their black SUV's from S&M (scarborough and mississauga) dressed in leather, rubber, talking loud, being rude and basically pretending they were kinky the way bored suburban people do when they're out of range of the local WalMart. Not really damaging to BDSM, but making it kinda gauche...the nouveau spankiche.

And the losers were mostly fat ugly damaged people being used, using others, giving BDSM a bad name.
