Why is obesity so prevalent amongst BDSM practitioners?

They're just suggested ways to answering the question under discussion...stop taking things so personally, kids.

Not that there's anything wrong with any of it...it's just an attempt to discuss the topic.

Ah Hah! 'Don't take it personal' and 'I'm just trying to discuss the topic.' ie. The last refuges of the Person who is Losing the Argument!:D

(Wondering: is this an Attempt at discussing the topic, or are you Actually discussing the topic? Please get back to me when you know. )

Hmm, could this have been the sort of thing I got in trouble for last time I argued?? Naaaahhh....

I almost didn't buy it for the lables that would be attached to me....the "there goes another arrogant asshole in his black bmw" shit. Fuck 'em.

...love driving the car, hate the image people slap on you automatically if you have one.

I think people spend a lot of time in North America doing things to fit a perceived image, sublimating their self in the process.

So, I'll bet there are lots of people into Goth, BDSM, Wicca, Kiwanis, Rotary...simply because it buys them a mask to cover what they are uncertain about on their own.

Many of you have said BDSM is open to all regardless of body appearance...perhaps that's why it attracts odd looking people.

I was Gonna join the Chubby Subby Club... the uniforms are cute... I just hate the labels that would be attached and the images people slap on you automatically if you join! :D

gol-dammed BMW driver. Shoulda known... grumble, grumble

Okay, I wouldn't normally comment on a misplaced apostrophe in a forum like this, but you did just say you're a Mensan!

I've been a Mensan since I was a kid, but I haven't done anything with them for a number of years now. I used to attend meetings regularly (though the talk was usually boring, so I'd dance around and around the snack table in the back of the room) and my family and I went to a few RGs. I even had a couple of ads in the IG Bulletin pen pal section once.

I don't remember anybody being particularly fat, but as I said that was a long time ago.

I put not apostrophe there! That post was doctored I tell you!

Lemme guess, you didn't put a "t" at the end of your third word just now, either?

Do they teach typing at Mensa meetings?

My math/spatial/logic was never good enough for those chubby geeks anyway.

;)

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya! Lit is out to get him!

They need a special Mensa for people like us, netz.

Dang, I said I would stay out of this thread...

I tried to stay out of this discussion...but...the more I read, the more questions I have that beg to be asked.

CSD - the fantasy label for overweight/obese submissives.

Lancecastor said:
If the question now is Why do BDSM-ers get upset when fatty threads come along...

Let's remember that it's mostly the women here who get snippy about it;

That most of them are subs.

Which I think reinforces my original assertions vis a vis self esteem., bdsm, body image and so forth.

Throughout their entire lives, women are assaulted with the message that their image will make or break their chances of survival in the world - that they are "ugly" or "damaged" if that image does not conform to what is considered "normal" and desireable. Men aren't raised with the same message. Could it be that low or poor self-esteem is easier to maintain in BDSM because it tends to be a desireable component in a female submissive? What about in a male submissive? I don't believe the dynamics work the same way.

IMO, the same esteem issues apply to both sex subs - the difference is what "normal" society dictates to each sex as they are growing up. Tack onto that the fact that if you stand a man and woman the same height and weight next to each other; she will appear to be "overweight or fat" because of where, in her body, nature deposits fat that is necessary for procreation.

Now, though I've not said it so far...my personal preference is and has always been towards curvy brunettes who are not overly sure of themselves.

By your own admission, Lance, your preference in a female could suffer from CSD. If your preferred woman is "curvy", she very likely has a BMI that puts her outside the normal range which makes her overweight (unless she is carrying some serious muscle-remember, breasts are fat). As for not being overly sure of themselves - could there be possible self-esteem issues lurking?

Why? Because I'm very sure of myself and am tall, strong and lighter in complexion.

Yin meets yang; yumminess ensues.

This comment intrigues me, but raises my eyebrows and other questions which I don't feel are germane to the topic discussion.

Then I'm in, phaser on stun.

Yes, something about you is stunning - I'm just not sure it is your reasoning.

Aw, Lance, won't you put your money where your mouth is?

I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. You can even send it in a PM. I'm trustworthy.

You're telling me to tongue my money? That's hardly an incentive.

How about you put your money somewhere I'd like to put my mouth, fly up here and we'll see if the proof winds up in the pudding?

That's far more palatable to my tastes.

I've walked away from buying a Corvette on two separate occasions for the same reason...love driving the car, hate the image people slap on you automatically if you have one.

Or avoid one.

Let's make one!

For people with giant busy freak heads who prefer public transit.

And subjugated chix.

And...girls with penises.

I know, I know...I caved on that one. Being labled an arrogant bastard in a bmw is one thing....that I can work with. But the whole gold chain ployester shirt guy dating teenagers thing was too painful to bear. Besides, my grrlfriend at the time, Amber, said Corvettes were obtuse, which I thought was a big word for a 15 year old to be using.

Etiole If you take him up on that offer we want DETAILS, lots of DETAILS ;)

Oh and you will wash your mouth afterwards, won't you? Lance uses pretty long words and who knows what you may catch....

Wordopolis ,Mensen Diction or worse Lance Quotation.
This is the worst of all, it is not only catching but can be seen as untreatable!

Take care Etoile and if you need extra protection..take a dictionary with you :D
You take care out there Etoile, but if you go DETAILS please lol

Etoile has much better sense than to get mixed up with an old dog like me.

But as they say on the lottery commercials up here...."Everyone has a dream."

Old has nothing to do with it! My girlfriend will be 36 in September, and Daddy will be 44 in December.

Now dog, on the other hand...

I'm not sure I'm old enough to know what Etoile's been doing with her dog!

Puts hands over ears and sings "la la la la la la la"

obestity is prevalent because it ties in with the low self worth prevalent among bdsm practitioners...
