Writing Challenge: 50 Words -- With a Twist

paranoia - winsome - frugal

Some fear signs of age almost to paranoia, concerned that each new wrinkle must be smoothed or concealed. Juli’s optimistic outlook and simple life meant that each wrinkle meant another smile, giving her a winsome looking even though she was so frugal that she never used skin creams or makeup.

pear, pare, pair

(I used to give my students homophones to put into one sentence. Having 50 words seems decadent.:))

pear, pare, pair

The pair of six year old twins got into trouble with their mother when they used one of her good, extra sharp knives to pare the peel of their pear. It was not a surprise, except to the twins, when they ended up with cuts deep enough to leave scars.

Deluge, participle, bandaid

Deluge, participle, bandaid

She felt a deluge of emotions as she looked at his sculpted body, his smile causing her knees to be weak. There was one more test - "What do you do with a dangling participle?"

He paused, and then said, "Put a bandaid on it?"

She cried.....

Objective, hillside, tennis

Objective, hillside, tennis

The Queue at Wimbledon was awesome.
I mean, you don’t get in the stadium, but you get to sit on a hillside pouring good beer down your gullet watching tennis with hundreds of hot brits doing just the same. After tea, everyone’s objective is a hook-up. Awesome, I tell you!

ammo - sea - inquiry

Ammo, sea, inquiry

He was trying to impress her, but he was running out of ammo. Desperate, he asked, "Here's an inquiry. If we were stranded at sea together, what would happen?"

Her response was simple, "One of us is going overboard."

He decided not to push his luck asking who was swimming.

Reason, sample, interlude

Reason, sample, interlude

"Give me one reason I shouldn't kiss you here and now," he whispered just before the interlude. His fingers were already moving up her thigh and she was opening them wider.

He grinned in the dark theater and whispered again, "This is just a sample of what I'll do later."

Penchant - fan - visit

Penchant - fan - visit

On hot days the landlord’s hunky son had a penchant for paying our apartment a visit. We didn’t have AC, so we didn’t wear much. Liz would chat with him in front of the fan, teasing him with her perky nipples pointing straight at him in the cooling breeze.

Summer, walk, light

Summer, walk, light

"I don't want to go for a walk!" she exclaimed.

"But baby, it's a beautiful summer evening and the sunset is so romantic!"

She placed her hand on his crotch and said, "I want to stay INSIDE!"

Finally the light went off in his brain....staying inside was GOOD!

Fog, reverse, miniature

Fog, reverse, miniature

“Hard Starboard, Reverse Engines,” the captain screamed.
The wheelman complied, while commands echoed over the maddening blare of the fog horn.
The captain ran to the rail and stared over the side. The catamaran off his port seemed miniature in the seas as his bow closed in for the collision.

cool - fresh - blossom

Cool, fresh, blossom

"As he opened the door, she felt the cool fresh breeze caress her naked breasts. He touched her shoulders, and she could feel the intensity blossom deep inside..."

Carol slammed the book shut. "Stupid fantasy romance novels - this doesn't happen in real life!"

She threw the book in the trash.

Skateboard, cinnamon, wiggle

Skateboard, cinnamon, wiggle

Stephanie sat on the bench in the sunshine.

Just as she reached into the bag beside her to get her cinnamon roll, some guy on a skateboard stopped to tie his shoe. As he bent over in front of her, Stephanie had to wiggle to ease the tiny ache she felt.

hottest - cereal - ropes

Hottest, cereal, ropes

She was the hottest girl he had ever seen! He bent over and pretended to tie his shoe to impress her - he knew all of the ropes.

Unfortunately, what he didn't know is that he had spilled his cereal on his shirt that morning. Not cool. Did she see it?

Disappointed, flannel, laughing

Disappointed, flannel, laughing

Our weekend escape was in a ski-side hotel room - but drizzling rain outside and a power outage through the building. Instead we snuggled in newly bought flannel pajamas and found ourselves laughing at each other's stupid jokes. How could we be disappointed? Best weekend away from the kids ever.

Candle, Wine, Liferaft

Candle, wine, liferaft

The single candle struggled to light the room. The bottle of wine was nearly consumed. He had covered everything, or so he thought. Obviously it wasn't enough, as he sat alone, consumed in his misery.

The door opened, and she threw out a liferaft - "Baby, I'm sorry - please forgive me!"

Sequence, glimmer, evaporate

Sequence, glimmer, evaporate
(shoehorned it a little, but kept it going)

In the glimmer of the sunlight, water droplets would evaporate from her skin as she lay out in the sun. Charlie did what he could to grill, careful to ensure the sequence of fire, flip, serve was followed. Yet with the girl tanning so near to him, concentration was challenging.

Broke - Down - Side

Broke - Down - Side

From the front desk security camera I saw the balding man discretely leading a young woman through the side door. There was nothing discrete about how far down her top went though. By the end of the night, he was going to be broke. I just hoped he’d be happy.

stair, stare, steer

(I love how sometimes you can envision spinning an entire RP story off of he inspiration of these. Tales from the front desk of a cheap Vegas hotel, perhaps)

After multiple interlocking stares she was steering the younger woman through the crowd and down the twisting stairs. Out in the cool evening air she hailed a cab, her ever commanding presence evident even when performing such a mundane task. “You’ll be good, won’t you?” She asked the girl.

“No.”

Net, gin, window

Net, gin, window

She was a regular: always early evening on Friday, always seated by the window, always looking for a gin cocktail. I researched new ones for her all the time, which did net me nice tips, but what I wanted was her number, though it could get me fired to ask.

Mesh, whiskey, door

I see the pattern here, and will gladly participate!

Mesh, whiskey, door

She opened the closet door, looking for just the right outfit to make the inappropriate first impression she desired. The little one-piece, high-waisted, ass-hugging jumper with the mesh cut-outs should do the trick. She sipped on her whiskey as she prepared for her night....

Screen, tequila, curtain

Screen, tequila, curtain

The stripclub bar stank of beer and tequila, where horny college guys hassled the underdressed waitresses or watched basketball on the flat screen TVs. His eyes were on the stage curtain through which his Rachel would appear, dancing as Roxxie. He’d finally found her, and he’d never lose her again.

Strip, read, gauze

(the pattern was fun, but looks like it's time to move on. I loved the "inappropriate first impression", btw)

What can I say, she was a naughty girl!

Strip, read, gauze

Except for the little strip of lace that was woven along the edges, the sheer gauze of her negligee didn't leave much to the imagination. If he couldn't read her intentions, he must be stupid.

The door opened and he looked straight at her. "Hi, honey - what's for supper?"

IDIOT!

Leftover, lid, sweeper

Leftover, lid, sweeper

(First thought was some grundgy janitor story getting all handsy with a girl grabbing her lunch from the fridge at work ... but spring is in air)

My Angeline stood on the far corner swaying elegantly on this cool spring morn, waiting for the sweeper to pass. Reminiscing, I pulled the coffee lid off to cool, and reminisced. She was my love, my whole life, dancing among the leftover dreams of our youth from so long ago.

(but just in case that was your point)
Janitor - Lunch - Work

Uh...that wasn't my point, but thanks for these words!

Janitor, lunch, work

The janitor had just finished cleaning my office as I rushed in to work for the day. I had left my lunch at home and that made me angry. So I needed the smile on the janitor's face as he looked at me and said "Have a nice day, ma'am!"

Handsome, chocolate, granny

Handsome, chocolate, granny

Advice for you.
When granny is pinching your cheeks, offering you chocolate, and asking where your handsome little friend is at; it’s best not to tell her the truth. The last thing she needs to know is that he’s hiding naked in the closet with a dildo up his ass.

Day - Fool - April
Because ... tis the season

Day - Fool - April

April stomped into the house. Her brother came out in time to hear her scream, "What a fool Tommy Williams is! I tried to kiss him all day, and when he kissed me back, he stuck his tongue out at me!" Brother stared and said, "Like a french kiss?"
