Writing Challenge: 50 Words -- With a Twist

Loquacious, nothing, obscure

He discovered she was loquacious when she was aroused, and would divulge obscure facts about herself as she babbled. He learned she liked cheese, she wished she had a puppy, and loved the smell of rain. Nothing she divulged was really worth listening to. So he quit making her aroused.


Chemical, stride, frigid

With time, virgins become cougars. Once, her frigid demeanor intoxicated him; like a chaste pheromone that triggered a wolf-like chemical response in his needs. She had grown older, yet he still lusted. Now, she only need to stride across the winery and give a sideways glace.

She shrieked as her skirt whipped around her legs, the kite pulling the end of its tether, threatening to drag her along. He laughed with her, enjoying her bright eyes as well as the glimpses of her tanned legs. The kite had been the best ten dollar impulse buy ever.

Everyone called her Miss Sunshine, because she was always in a cheery mood. But her sultry eyes could melt ice just by looking at it. She would set a trap with those eyes, and if you weren't careful, you'd be sucked in and spring right into her trap.

The dining room was set up for the wedding and the bride was there for one last check. “Everything is so beautiful with the orange and pink flowers.”

“I am glad you like it,” replied the planner. “We even put velcro under the vases to keep them in place.”

It was the usual story - the jilted girl, a victim of abandonment when her boyfriend ran off with another girl, felt as if she had no reason to live anymore. But this story had a pinch of good luck - she was keeping a secret lover herself, and did just fine!

It was somewhere near Barstow that the drug withdrawal kicked in. My attorney and I attended some off-road racing festival outside of Vegas. Expecting an orgy of hilarity, love, fear, and loathing; instead we dodged parents pushing strollers along dirt paths and sipping their root beer floats. Wasted being wasted.

I watched in disbelief as the I watched the men deliver the sacrifice to the island gods. The squealing pig soon was laid open and it's intestine raised high for all to see. I was both enthralled and disquieted to see the warm blood dripping down. Then, I threw up.

The gown fluttered behind her as if it were made from the wings of a hummingbird. In the shadowed glow created by the lamplight outside the window, she made her way to her charming prince. She planted a sweet kiss in his lips and fell into his waiting arms...

As Jan sat in the orchard, she began to engage in a one-sided conversation with a butterfly. “Have you ever noticed how the sun makes those blossoms shimmer?” she asked. “Sort of like the shimmer on your wings.” As if answering her, the butterfly waggled its wings in the sunlight.

"Damn it!" Melissa said. "Stupid pine-cone - somebody cut that tree down!" She was in the ER, needing 10 sutures after tripping on said pine-cone on her way to the Pork in the Park festival (not sex, your dirty minded readers - it was a cooking festival!). She was missing the bacon...

Tom's exhaustion level was beyond tired. He had been up before dawn, traveled halfway across the country, and attended four different meetings. Now he was waiting for a tailor to repair his pants after falling on a cobblestone walkway on his way to a company dinner. He'd probably be late.

He decided to flip a coin to resolve the problem. The coin landed on it's edge - neither heads or tails! Chaos erupted!

The newspaper gave a press release about the confusion on the Titan field. According to the quarterback, his helmet mic was cutting in and out. “I couldn't understand what the coach was saying. I had to just guess. Many of our plays are similar like forward 13 and forward 30.”

I knew the ground hog wasn't going to like this. I was afraid I was going to pay the price.

I reached into his burrow and grabbed him out. People applauded, but the ground hog looked pissed! What a stupid tradition - as if a ground hog could predict weather! Ridiculous!

I went in for a simple haircut. But the stylist was one of those arrogant people who thinks they know best. Now I am under the dryer because he insisted I needed to do that as part of HIS cut. You know I will go home and wash it out.

He tried to rotate the telescope to get a better view of her through the window. All day he had tried not to anticipate the moment she would undress; now the time had come. He tried to regulate his heart beat, then realized the pounding was someone knocking on his door.

Douglass extending his cutters between the curly red wire, breathed, then snipped it.
Breathed again.
Nothing happened.
“Had me worried,” Sarge whistled. “this bomb’s gonna be a picnic.”
Douglass smirked, regaining his train of thought, and went to snip the next wire.
Unlike the first, THIS was the wrong wire.
