True, but my actual quote ended with the second sentence. I've never taken a story that far; usually, if there is an ending, say to a series, it ends with a break-up. I've only killed off one character, I think, and that was in a Non-erotic story about a real-life train wreck.

My 'readership' if you can call it that, finds much to complain about, in multiple areas of my output. The only two patterns that stand out are:

The LW crew seems to have 'cuck shit' on their speed-dial.

Others discern subversive literary pretensions in some of my stories, so I get things like: 'You're writing about sticking your dick up someone's butt you don't have to write like Hemingway. It makes for very awkward reading' and in a different story: 'No need to show off your vocabulary.'

I shall carry on.

Hemingway again. I don't think he ever wrote about anal sex. If the reader really wanted to make a point, he should have compared you to Henry James.

Early on, most of my negative feedback was about my spelling, grammar and syntax. I'm fine with that, I know that I am not the greatest literature guru (I'm and Aussie ), and aside from a few trolls that constantly want to act like jerks, most of the negative feedback I am now getting is about my style or writing. Again I am fine with this, I know my Loving Wives stories are not for everyone. I don't write cuck and my BTB's are a little different than most.

If we look at negative feedback and remove the worst as just readers that need a chance to act like children regardless of what they are reading, about half the negative feedback is helpful. Some people that give negative feedback are really trying to help, others are just jerks. If people want to help, don't just give a comment and walk away, offer to help. i'd welcome it

They are readers, not editors. They wouldn't know how to advise you, nor do they even want to. They rarely write more than three sentences in a comment anyway. The majority of them forgot your story by the following day at the latest.

Yes I hate when someone says I don't think that would happen. That's why it's a fantasy and people looking for that kink is going to just go with it.

One person complained on one of my stories that they thought the character's sex training would have happened before my character turned 18. Eh. Maybe? But literotica doesn't want to promote underage sex so just go with it. Also the whole story most likely wouldn't happen at any age.

I have only published one story so far and thankfully the admins put it into the Essays category as opposed to LW, though the anonymous trolls found it there probably by the tags. Again, cuck/whore/faggot, etc..

However, as a commenter, last month I commented on a BTB story that the husband acted the way he did because he was weak, had a fragile ego and was acting like a little boy who had his favorite toy stolen. You would not believe the hate I got from other commenters and also PM's from other readers calling me anything but a human.

My most common is where some legal or scientific technicality is incorrect.
Even now it baffles me that people can read a story about someone that can stop time, or exert mind control, and then say 'such and such a legal detail wouldnt happen'

The second-most common negative feedback, after "I don't like what this story's about" (which doesn't bother me), is pointing out continuity errors. This is the type of error that I appreciate and think is justified and which drives me craziest about my own writing. I did it again in my latest story -- something happens at the end that doesn't fit with something that happened earlier in the story, and my readers, rightly, pounced on it. In fact, I did it my last two stories. It's sloppy.I can't stand doing that. I think this can be a hazard if you take too long to write a story, because as you are writing the end you sometimes forget what came before.

I think my most common complaints are all on one story. Paraphrasing here but it's essentially, "Marital rape doesn't exist" or "Giving in is still consenting."

Bet that narrative wouldn't hold up with the person making the comment if it was THEM getting harassed to exhaustion and finally giving in to super happy bum-fun sex with a man who couldn't take no for an answer. Watch the seething rage and hatred come spewing out of every orifice then.

I get a lot of "Finish the damn story" as well. Of course, I do that on purpose to let the reader use their own imagination.

My favorite "anonymous" poster is the guy who will post a string of anonymous comments pretending to be different people all agreeing with each other about how bad the chapter was. The phrase, "I agree with the above poster," had me rolling when I read it.

You can disable anonymous feedback, although that prevents anonymous folks from sending something positive as well, so..

I had one of the authors comment how my story is interesting, yet my characters make no sense. In short, he was mostly dissing my main character for not falling into his idea what being dominant or submissive means. It is also the only comment that pushed my buttons enough for me to write a reply. I almost wished I was called a freak instead. I get sensitive about my characters...

I agree. I don't always enjoy what they have to say, but I do enjoy some of the criticism and in some cases have learned how to improve my stories based on them.

Then there are the one's who are just being straight up jerks just for the sake of doing it since no one knows who they are. That's just something we have to learn to deal with... or if you can't deal with it then just delete the comment.

I think my most common negative comment is that it needs a sequel. Spending hours to create a story arc that can be continued in the readers' imaginations is not good enough, I guess.

I've written a lot of stories across many categories, and have received lots of associated feedback over the years some positive, some neutral and some negative.

Of your negative comments, what is the one that comes up most frequently? For mine, it is complaints that my stories are boring, especially in Incest/Taboo and Loving Wives, although I've had the same comment in other categories. Some of the LW readers seemed to think that I wrote and posted boring stories in this category just to annoy them, while the IT fans didn't seem to appreciate my attempts to make them laugh or to take them on holidays to interesting places in Australia.

What are your experiences?
