It is interesting to see how few of them are chained... bicycle theft is everywhere in our cities...Apropos Biking.
- took this earlier today, it was for a friend, but.. I think..it might show what I mean, when I try to explain how life looks like, up here.

@Cat Love how everyone there is taking this approach to alternative transportation. I’ve sold my car a while back and just use my bike everywhere. For longer excursions, I just rent a vehicle for a day.
Denmark is a model for sustainability, and has been for some decades. A lot of countries can learn from Danish policiesAaahhh! But that is exactly the core of this... Biking is NOT an alternative transportation.. it is the primary one.
Also.. That is nothing new.
Less than 35 % of the people in my city have a car.
(And only 17% of ALL families in Denmark have 2 cars.)
Our public transportation works well, it is clean, easy, on time and simple.
But.. biking.. it is even taught in kindergarten and school. It is our primary way of transportation.
I really should bike more than I do. But our infrastructure is not near what yours is to handle it. Plus I live in the country which doesn’t help.Apropos Biking.

Swimming is my main form of exercise. I absolutely love it and I try to swim 3 times a week, when my health allows me to. The gym I go to has an indoor and outdoor pool, so I use the outdoor one when it's not raining (it's heated, so even in winter!).Good Morning!

Saturday:
Swimming! Such a great way to exercise. You get your cardio. You get your resistance training. Do you swim? Where? When? Did you belong to a swim team? What’s your best stroke? (Insert breaststroke jokes here…)
I need 8 but I can function on 6New calendar is here!
Today’s Topic is Sleep
Sleepy Sunday: How much sleep to you get on average?
Yes definitely, to both points. I've figured out my circadian rhythm and I am starting to listen to my body. When I'm having a bad night, I'll wake every 3 hours. If I go back to sleep but wake up before 3 hours have passed, I'm mid cycle and will be in a foul mood all day.Does a bad night’s sleep affect your workout? Do you think that lack of sleep affects weight loss/fitness in general?
It's a generic king sized bed and it's a good size, but the mattress isn't great. I prefer a firmer mattress but my husband doesn't. It's a big thing so we haven't gotten a new one yet, even though we do need it!What kind of bed do you have, and do you like it? What kind of mattress do you recommend (I’m in the market for a new one so this is a completely selfish crowdsourcing question).
Yes, we both do. If I sleep first, he can't sleep. If he sleeps first, I can sleep. He usually comes to bed after me thoughDo you or your significant other snore? Any other sleep issues you feel like sharing?
No and I think that's my problem. I have noone to look to for guidance. Losing weight and/or maintaining fitness is difficult. I didn't have much guidance and perhaps I should have. Gyms here monetise personal plans, so I'd have to sign up with a personal trainer. Maybe I should? I don't know. I don't have gym clothes that fit and I can't find any that don't make me feel awful.Good morning!
Monday: Role Models- Do you have a fitness role model? Or maybe a good example was set for you as you were growing up? Is there someone who showed you the ropes or got you involved with working out? Or were you a role model for someone else?
Every city in the world should strive to be more like Copenhagen when creating infrastructure for moving about the city.Aaahhh! But that is exactly the core of this... Biking is NOT an alternative transportation.. it is the primary one.
Also.. That is nothing new.

Day behind here so tackling Sunday. I get 6-ish hours during the week and 8-9 on the weekendHow much sleep to you get on average?
If it’s really bad everything becomes sluggish.Does a bad night’s sleep affect your workout?
It affects weight loss and diet for sure, I crave junk more when I’m tiredDo you think that lack of sleep affects weight loss/fitness in general?
One with a mattress, queen sized and I love bedWhat kind of bed do you have, and do you like it?
I might not be the quietest sleeper, thank you Flonase (sexy)Do you or your significant other snore?
Im horrible at putting myself to bed but a professional at sleeping once there. I might need a bedtime but I love being up late. Making adult choices sucks.Any other sleep issues you feel like sharing?
Answering this one in a blurb, I had a couple friends who encouraged me to get into running when I turned 30 and it changed my fitness direction. Then once long distance running became gross, I had another friend who was a mother of my oldest’s best friends get me into Tris and that was great until COVID. I want to maybe get back to those next year, fingers crossed but need to get back into the pool.Do you have a fitness role model? Or maybe a good example was set for you as you were growing up? Is there someone who showed you the ropes or got you involved with working out? Or were you a role model for someone else?
I think you’re in the right place. Gym memberships are fine, but they cost a lot and it sometimes turns into a social thing that it doesn’t have to be. Walking is maybe the best place to start? Obviously I don’t know you or your circumstances, but walking is free, easy and you can wear whatever you’re comfortable in. It’s great for your heart and mind and, with a decent diet, can help you lose weight effectively. It’s probably one of the better forms of exercise! No and I think that's my problem. First run in 6 weeks! Same lousy time but more tired.Well, it's a start.
I love the bike roads and separate lanes for bikes in Copenhagen! But be ware on Dronning Louises Bro on a Friday between 1pm and 6pm. One false step and you are hit by a hundred in two seconds!Aaahhh! But that is exactly the core of this... Biking is NOT an alternative transportation.. it is the primary one.

Tack så mycket! Så snällt sagt av dig.Yay!!! Fedt!!! Det er så godt gået!!
The beginning is always so hard.. and then, keeping a routine.. Well, until it becomes a routine så vil det trække tænder ud!
But yay!!! You have begun!![]()

I haven't had my bike with me when I've visited Copenhagen. I either drive when I need to go to other places too in Denmark (car or motorbike), or take the train and walk or use public transportations when I only visit Copenhagen.True.. DLB is not for the faintheartedAnd, you need to be used to biking.. And following the rules.
Somehow.. cyclists can be a tad more brutal? Mostly because, at that time.. Everyone just wants to go home, get changed.. And go back to DLB and have a beer with their friends!
But on a serious note, we had Pride week last week, and that attracts lots of good people.
Tourists as well, and... When in Rome.. so there are bike rentals EVERYWHERE .. And, it is kinda impossible to get around in car..
Well, I saw a little group of cheerful and spirited people, riding in a cargo bike.. enjoying the rollercoaster feeling of the roads..And.. falling over!!
Luckily nothing happened!! The kids were fine the grown ups a bit shocked.
But this is mything.. I absolutely LOVE it, when tourists are visiting my city, I really do!
This is just for everyone's safety: Please be mindful, pay attention.. READ THE TRAFFIC SIGNS.. They are there for a reason.
Exactly because biking is our main way of transportation, our infrastructure is specifically designed for it, cyclists have way better lanes, their own bridges and roads.
That also mean: we use it, daily, several times a day! And it needs to flow.
Biking is incredibly safe here, truly.. extremely easy and safe.
As long as people are paying attention.
Good morning Sweaters!
Good morning All! It’s Tuesday! I loved reading about the prevalence of biking vs driving from yesterday’s posts, and that actually leads into today’s topic…
Tuesday: Your Town, or wherever you live- is it conducive to your fitness journey? Do you live somewhere where it is easy to get outside for a workout, or where there are plenty of gyms or other venues that you use to exercise? Or is it hard to find somewhere to workout because where you live is either too crowded or too far away from resources you would like to use?
Enjoy your Tuesday, All![]()
It’s so interesting to hear your perspective Cat. I live in the country and not especially near town. And even the town that is near me is tiny so I have to go further yet to the one that would have gyms or stores. Your perspective is different than mine in that we would never consider a 7-8 km walk short. To us that’s a good distance. Most Americans would never walk some place that was 4 miles away. Myself included. It’s definitely a mental and cultural thing that we need to overcome.Good morning everyone!!
I think, for me.. exercising is extremely accessable.. From easy walking routes, to my gym being 350 meters from the apartment.. to the whole transportation.
And.. The sheer fact: my city, area wise.. It is probably much, much smaller than most American cities.. so to me, everything is within a short 7-8 km walk.![]()
