🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

I …like? cardio

The reason I haven’t really connected with yoga is because there isn’t that adrenaline rush. That’s what I’m looking for in a workout, and why I do like cardio. It takes a while to warm up, but once I’m there I have that rawwwwrrrr feeling that is such a dopamine hit.

Running is what my body responds to. I will slim down if I run. I know this. But I’m not a natural runner. I’m slow. I just kind of chug along. I wish I was one of those gazelle-like runners but I’m just not. Lately I’ve liked intervals of walking a bit and then sprinting, walking a bit and then sprinting, repeat. I have never run a really long way. The furthest was 5 miles and I felt really accomplished afterwards.

My meme ;-)

It’s Thursday! Ok. How do we feel about cardio day? Do you love it? Hate it? What do you do for your cardio workout?

Bonus: leave a cardio themed meme or cartoon here
I think cardio is what I'm doing now to get a kick start on my training. I have a 2 km round with both uphill and downhill and I run quite fast, walk, run faster, walk and then as fast as I can and walk in between until I'm home again. I'm planning on increasing the distance later into the traing.

Well, we shall all start some were...... :D

I do not hate cardio. Most of my favourite ways of exercise are cardio related, so I suppose that makes sense. I always enjoy a good spin or HIIT class, though they do more than cardio, I'd much prefer them to lifting. Even the rowing machine is a good time.

I will say, I do prefer longer easy runs than speed or hill work though. Or maybe it's just that I feel less like I want to die during those.

Ehh, Cardio, I don't hate it but I don't love it at first. I am not a runner, this is where I would rather swim. But once I start walking, I will pick up the pace a little bit and then slow down. I try to always push myself to go a little further then maybe I should but I do feel accomplished in the end.

As much as I dislike it, I work it into my gym routine for a handful of time each workout. If I did more of it I would likely see more progress being made..but the thought of it? Meh.

Well... I seriously.. Really.. Like, truly... Kinda, love and hate cardio.. well, that goes for all kinds of working out.
Maybe, if I did it moderately, and stopped before I was dying on the floor..
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But, where is the fun in that?

I think, honestly.. That cardio is necessary for me, it calibrates my energy levels and helps me focus.

Okay.. I actually do that 😆🙈

.. It is, a weird form of self manipulation.. but hey, if it works! 😎

Cardio isn’t my favorite especially while I’m doing it. But I’m with you @Love_Is_Blonde … once that shot of dopamine hits. It finally gets a bit more enjoyable. For me it happens some during the exercise but more of it seems to finally hit later. Leaves me feeling good about myself.

Running is often my go to cardio option but I really don’t love running that much. Intervals aren’t bad.

Dangit…now I’m feeling bad for not doing any cardio today. 😆

Mini celebration: I just rejoined my gym and completed a 30 min HIIT circuit followed by a 20 min on the treadmill (walking). The part that I’m really happy about is making time for it. Yes I work. Yes I have family at home. Yes there’s always more to do. But making myself a priority is important. But it’s been difficult for me. So I’m happy about that. 🎉

Just made me smile young lady 😊 #overachiever

And yes, you are a priority! Can’t help anyone, if you can’t help yourself! Very happy for you!

Super pumped for you and the commitment you’ve made! Way to get after it and lead us by example!

Thank you both, I really appreciate your posts. This group helps keep me on track and helps me to stay motivated. Hoping that others are feeling the same way. A little pat on the back goes a long way.

Happy Friday!!

Mystery Friday: Friday should be fun. Let’s get creative. For Mystery Friday, you have a “choose your own adventure” day. Does anyone remember those books? I remember when the librarian would preview new books they got in the library and whenever she talked about choose your own adventure books, there was a mad dash to that bookshelf to check one out.

But I digress ..

Choose your own adventure: creativity challenge!

Once upon a time, there was a Sweater who had a long week. They worked hard. They ate right(ish), they did a few workouts, and pushed themselves. They deserved to finish out the work week with a fun activity.

If you were this Sweater, would you:
A) record an audio message updating us about your goals?
B) write a poem about your fitness journey - it can be funny, serious, rhyme or not rhyme?
C) find a fitness related quote and share it here?
D) are you artsy? Draw a picture of yourself on your fitness journey.
E) something not on this list? Have at it! Be creative and have fun.

This is awesome! You should be extremely happy, it's a big deal and it's good to celebrate the wins (and yourself).

Happy Friday!!

Hmmm......the reward I had in mind for this Friday did not happen. But I took a short motorcycle trip this afternoon to a café on the country side with my youngest daughter instead. Not bad at all.

And I choose C. from your list. I like cheesy quotes. :)

He decided to take up running
Only liking it he didn't see coming
Left sleeping in behind
Yup, he traded it all for the grind
Everything couldn't be grander, until
Fasciitis of plantar
Fartleks, hills, and track laps, with
ITunes cranked to the max, his
Feet flying fast as can be, call him
Eliud Kipchoge
Even stride and cadence, just
Let him rest on this fence
Or he might bonk in the ditch
Lord, running is a bitch
Dude, you should try it some time

I get down like acrostic poems. Where do I pick up my Pulitzer?
C) find a fitness related quote and share it here?
The illusion is that the finish line is the destination, but the act itself is the destination.

I had ChatGPT write me a poem

In a realm of sweat and strain,
Where treadmill's hum is quite insane,
We grunt and groan, a funny show,
Exercising our way to muscles that grow.

Weights that feel like lead balloons,
Lifting them while humming tunes,
Yoga poses, twisted in a knot,
Oops, there goes my balance, a funny thought!

Leggings stretched, faces quite red,
Trying to plank like a sturdy shed,
Zumba dancing, oh what a sight,
Two left feet moving left and right!

Push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks,
Sweat dripping down our backs,
But amidst the huffs and puffs, you see,
Laughter's the best workout, agreed by me!
