I think I'm pretty conventional here. Once I form a first impression, I'll likely stick with it unless I have new information to go on, and then I go from there.

Applying this to Lit, I can see this can be a problem. I'm slow to trust people here, and I might form the impression that someone here isn't someone I'll like, and steer clear or even put them on ignore. By doing that, I make it very unlikely that I'll ever see or hear anything new about them which might correct my view. Sometimes, I'm sure that's my loss. But not always.

I mistrust my gut here nowadays. It's too easy for people to be witty and amusing in the threads without giving any hints that they have the remains of a dozen Litsters neatly stored in 55 gallon drums in their basement. And then it's too late.

I laughed because a female friend told me that no woman should ever meet a specific person because they'll end up buried in his basement. #serialkillervoice
