All too often you're just not the type that interests the object of your affection. This is what I think of when I remember young love. Even knowing the feelings were transient, they were no less intense, and being aware that life would move on, did not make it any less painful.

for so many reasons this song was so important to me growing up...for one peter cetera's voice is unmatched (quite possibly the greatest vocal voice ever)...i always wanted to be the hero, fight for what is right and just and fair, have a beautiful woman fall in love with me because of it...get the happily ever after...

I’ve always identified with cathartic music more than the hopeful variety and I was a preteen in the 80s, so this song reminds me of all those big feelings before I’d even kissed a boy but was still somehow convinced they might be the love of my life.
