Interpreting poetry has never been my strong suit and the Doors certainly wrote poetical music. I believe good art encourages personal interpretation without being so esoteric as to confuse; this song has had me stumped for a long time but I've finally decided what it means to me.

So my interpretation of this one is of wishing for fact to match memory.

I had a sweetly positive one all picked out, but @Whiskeyjack shot that down, so this is his fault. It was the harmonies that drew me in on this one when it came wandering out of my speakers, and this stripped down live version even more so. But lyrically, it is sweetly brutal. This is "wake up at 3 AM wishing."
