I will admit i have no idea if something was a #1 now... so i looked at a list from the 70's and this jumped out at me... i did actually buy the track a few years back and it turns up as my iTunes rumbles through random.
The line about "how's the weather" is great, trying to normalise a "word that is constantly changing" with a fixed reference of banality.
His voice is fabulous on this.

I'm just scrolling through everything from the late 90s and I'm having a nostalgic overdose! I don't know what to pick!! I only heard this for the first time the other night. It's by an Irish comedian/singer called Joe Cuddy and it's gorgeous, the sort of voice that wraps you up and keeps you warm and safe. It was No1 for nearly a year in Ireland in 1974.
