Day 8: A song that mentions or is about an historic event

Yayyy! This one's for @Wonderer67, finally I can break out my post-black viking metal 😬 Did a search and saw that @curious_slut likes them as well though πŸ₯°

Heilung is a unique band, to say the least. Hailing from Denmark, their lyrics are a blend of icelandic, old norse, proto germanic, old and new english... Their music is definitely a mood. To see them live is an experience one never forgets.

I wouldn't recommend listening to this just as you wake up - save it for tonight. It's not heavy, it's not grating; it's lovely, but it's also strange, weird, and requires a certain frame of mind...

Heilung - Krigsgaldr (Battlemage, or Shieldbreaker, or Warpoet, translation is a bit iffy)
The song's about the Viking invasions.

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about a historic event

Guillemots - Trains To Brazil
July 2005 and an innocent man boarded a tube train in London. The capital was on alert after recent bombings. He did not run to the tube, he didn't jump the barriers, as was suggested by the police at the time. he did nothing wrong, but he was held down and shot multiple times. This is for you, Jean Charles de Menezes

Day 7 - a song that was a #1 hit

You know, for all my busting of @PrettyLilPussy19 over Creed, I went through a not insignificant Matchbox 20 phase when they were big. I had no idea this hit #1 for a week until I went back and looked, and it's definitely not their best song by a mile, but it's good, and has Rob Thomas doing a lot of Rob Thomas things in this video. πŸ˜…

Beautiful choice! The vibes were actually perfect for me shortly after waking up this morning πŸ˜‚

I would love to see Heilung when they tour the States but I'm a bit nervous about the crowd. There's a segment of American fascists who are really into Norse/Viking things πŸ˜” Hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

Oh that's... really strange and it really sucks. Odd thing for them to appropriate  I do hope you get a chance to see them sometime! πŸ₯°

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about a historic event

Following @Whiskeyjack's lead, I'm going with a song from Six.

So out of all the wives, Anne of Cleves seems to have gotten the best deal by far. Almost posted the Polish version from YouTube but you should definitely look for it if you're a fan of Six 😊
