Youโ€™re good with the hands on your throat, though, right? ๐Ÿฅต

I saw him quite a few times when he was in the Drive By Truckers. Some really wild and scary times. Solo shows are good but much more time and fucking pricey.
I mean, raging alcoholics do put on wild shows! Age and sobriety and parenthood have calmed him down, shit I was gonna go see him in wine country ๐Ÿคฃ

Day 10: A song that mentions royalty
So this one is kinda a throw away, but the announcements for royal deaths on BBC radio are too good not to post.

Day 11: A song from the 40โ€™s or 50โ€™s

Written by George and Ira Gershwin for the play Oh Kay, "Someone to Watch Over Me" was originally a jazzy, up tempo song. Sinatra took it and slowed it down, which made it fantastic, then Ella Fitzgerald recorded it in 1950 on her debut album, Ella Sings Gershwin, and it was perfect.

It has been recorded since, but never better.

I love oldies, so it was really hard to choose. so I decided to go with my favorite double entendre christmas song!

"Hang up your pretty stockings
And turn off the light
Santa Claus is comin'

Down your chimney tonight"

Santa Claus is Back in Town - Elvis Presley (1957)

Day 11: A song from the 40โ€™s or 50โ€™s

Closest I ever felt to being a cast member in Happy Days, 2 buddies and I were driving down Sunset in the 90โ€™s, just cruising not cool enough to go anywhere. The friend in the back was a fan of K-Earth the oldies station and asked that we put it one. Weโ€™re listening for a few songs. Then this song come on and he leaps forward to yell in my and the drivers ear that he was the Great Pretender.

He was trying to tell us something that we didnโ€™t figure out for a while. But it was hilarious in the moment.

I don't care much for music from before the 60's... Sure there are classics that one has to recognize as such, but it's nothing I'd put on a Spotify playlist. So I think I'll go with this one, just for the reason that I really love a cover version of it!
