👀 What are you watching on ______ (Netflix/HBO Max/Hulu/etc.) 📺💻

We just sadly got to the end of Ted Lasso. From its premise (American coach who knows nothing about soccer/footie gets hired to run a club into the ground for personal reasons of the chairwoman/owner) I took a lot of persuading but it won me over quickly due to the adorable personae of the fabulous ensemble cast. The scripting was a perfect mix of cynicism and humour, much of it warm and gentle.

I was somewhat struck by the New Testament overtones and analogies but they never hit you over the head with it, just let it sit there till you started to cop on. Ted as Jesus, coach Beard as John the Baptist, the team as the disciples, Nathan as Judas, the cute WAG as Mary Magdalene etc etc.
Way to ruin Ted Lasso 😂

A documentary on Paramount+ called "The Hunt for Eagle-56." It was unusual in that it was a 3-part documentary on the search for a WWII ship. It was a little melodramatic in spots, but was pretty well done.

On Netflix, The Days. I was in the industry for 35 years so the topic of the show has special meaning to me. But the accuracy of the show is incredible. I taught about the accident many times, and they are nailing the technical details. Very impressive. I've only seen the first episode and am already hooked.

The topic? Fukushima.

New season of Glow Up is on Netflix - I’m a sucker for any kind of competition show

I’ve been watching B movies from the 70s and 80s on Tubi lately. Most aren’t that good, but some are pretty amusing.

“Truck Stop Women” is a standout. In the first 5 minutes there is a double murder, a conversation between two mobsters that lays out the plot of the movie, a truck hijacking, sex in the sleeper, and three different sets of tits! I don’t think I’ve seen any movie do more with five minutes!
Dead on recommendation. playing now. Thanks kinked.
