🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

The freeze last week, along with work, really cut into my workout. I'm happy to report I'm back to core exercises, and moved up to 5# for upper body. I've found if I don't keep up with core, my abs and obliques will spasm painfully when I move certain ways. Still keeping up with rotator cuff exercises to prevent shoulder injuries.

I figured I'd ask the knowledgeable citizens of this thread for your insight!

Due to a variety of factors, including the fact that it takes me over 20 minutes to get to the gym (and their hours of operations shrunk to the point it's not worth it), I'm not renewing my contract. The other gym nearby is a big fat no.

So, I thought of building a home gym in dedicated corner. I have some space, but not a lot and definitely not a lot of height, so no jumping.

I already have a treadmill (which I will likely have to replace soon), a couple of stability balls, some anchored resistant bands/bar/Pilates bar system, sliders, and an ab roller, and I'm looking for a couple of workout regimes to put together, because I need to have a program/plan before I start or else I'm just drifting .

However, I miss weights--a lot--and I know it's good to incorporate them. I was thinking of a foldaway bench and adjustable dumbbells, as they don't take up a lot of room and can be versatile. I was also hoping to find something that I can also use a barbell with

Any suggestions of kind/shop/experiences with adjustable dumbbells and/or barbells? Or foldaway benches?

(and any insights in finding programs and/or building a compact home gym that doesn't take a lot of space is welcomed)

Thanks in advance and thanks for the inspiration to keep on sweating!

How big is your space? Do you have room for a power rack and bench? We used half of a small bedroom in our precious house for a rack. Bench was tucked in a corner and moved into the rack when we used it. Other half was an office. Now its in the garage but also in a small corner of it. I can PM you a picture. You will have a lot of lifting program options if you can fit a rack and a bench.

Working out hasn't been working. So today, it's going to be racquetball. If I die, it was nice knowing you all

Thank you for your response and insight and for the link!

My space is compact. I have space to workout--it's about half of a small bedroom--but the storage is tight. I can't leave stuff in the middle of the room and there isn't much wall space. At the moment, I don't have room for a rack. A bench, if it's storable, I have space, so that's an idea!

Maybe enough space for a squat stand?

May also want to look into kettlebells. Great at performing variations of squats, deadlifts, and bench that require a barbell. You'll also have the kettlebell swing itself, and you'll also be able to perform many other exercises as well with it. Pairs well with a bench too.

I pulled something in my shoulder lifting yesterday 😒 I was trying some new lifts focusing on making my arms wider and must have gone to heavy to fast. Ooops

I did it! 😃

Yoga warm up + pilates with push-ups in between every other set.

I'm happy for you, coach.
