🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

It’s Serenity Sunday
… breathe in… breathe out…

How do you unwind?

My usual go to is the gym.. I have learnt (this sounds so cheesy), but I am simply a much more cheerful and grounded me, if I somehow get to release all that extra energy.

The gym is my outlet, that is where I calibrate myself, emptying my head, ground, get settled in.. And breathe.

I simply need to feel... Gosh.. this sounds weird... But, that feeling, when you have done a particularly difficult round of tabata, you are on your mat, hands and feet, and only able to concentrate about breathing.. everything else is pain..

Yeah.. then I know, whatever might come my way.. I can deal with it!

What strategies do you have to handle stress?

If it becomes too bad, I go to our forest house, alone.

- Long walks.
- Working out.
- No people.

Are you able to take your mind off of what is troubling you and relax?

Most of the time, but, my stress limit is rather low, so I have to be mindful of my activity level.
.... It is not rare for me, to get told to go to the gym, if I start showing signs of stress.

☀️Rise and shine! ☀️
It’s Monday morning - time to get those steps in.

Here is this week’s calendar. It’s back to the grind for me today so let me give a rundown of the activities this week.

View attachment 2258845

Monday: Meme Day
Drop your best wellness-related memes here! They can be funny or serious, found online or homemade. I guess everyday is meme day on Lit but now it’s official!

Tuesday: Arms Day
It’s all about those guns! Suns out, guns out! What’s your arm routine like? Do you alternate days—is your workout that organized? Are you an organized person in other areas of your life?

Wednesday: Walking Lunges
These hurt so good. Do you do them? Give ‘em a try!

Thursday: Picture Perfect
Share a wellness related picture! It could be of yourself in workout clothes, somewhere you went for a workout, a pic of your pet you take with you, a meme…anything. We are visual learners here ;-)

Friday: Mystery VIP Day!!
Fridays are going to be Mystery VIP day. A secret Litster will create the workout and provide a couple hints as to his/her identity and we have to try the workout and then guess who the Litster is! (If you would like to be Mystery VIP, pm me.)

So there you have it, this weeks activities. They’re meant to just keep you coming back and checking in with the group. Hopefully it’s fun and can perk you up a little this week. Keep inviting people you think would like to play with us and have a great week!

Tuesday you say.. arms! Wuhuuu!! We can do this!

I am catching up today, have finally unpacked and settled in. City life always throws me off my rhythm.
But, today is back to gym day!!

@*Twisted* ugh sorry to hear about the injury!! Hope today is much better 🤞🏻🍀

Well, I am going to get changed and walk down to my gym.
- It is an old style, classic gym rat/shark style of gym, with CrossFitters and heavy lifting dudes and dudettes everywhere, and the owners knows everyone by name.. And only playing old style classic rock or hip-hop.
I kinda love that place!!

Oh.. my husband just sent this to me 🤣🤣🤣

But hey...

So.. yeah, I have more gym clothes than normal clothes.. 🙈🤣

Nice work, @Cat !! I like rowing. Sometimes I feel like my form is off- like I’m not targeting the correct muscles. In addition to arms, I need to remember to engage my lats. When I remember to focus, it makes rowing a lot more effective.

This makes me wonder: do you all have to actively think, “ok now I’m going to target my lats (or whatever muscle)”, or do you just automatically fall into the correct form? This is a big thing that I use to psych myself out when I’m working out.

Hi 👋
Hoping it's ok to just drop in like this. I've been reading up on this thread over the last few days and would like to join in as much as I can.

I'm very much starting from scratch. I've struggled with agoraphobia and other mental health issues over the years and my fitness levels have tanked. I'm trying not to feel ashamed but to seize the opportunity for change.

So my goal for this month is to get myself to a point where I can start to think about more focused workouts. I want to build up to 10000 steps a day and then be able to do that comfortably before introducing anything else.

I'll be cheering you all on as best as I can too 😊

This warms my heart. I’m soooo glad you are here. Congratulations on taking that first (figurative and literal) step. This group is so supportive and you’ll fit right in. 💜

When I got the ability to think back...
Just finished 2000 meters rowing, resistance 8 out of 10.
Wake up, it’s Arms Day!!💪🏼💪🏼
I want you both to know, my arms ached just reading these two posts 🤣

(Note to self: only challenge @Cat to arm wrestling immediately after she's done rowing)

The rowing machine was always my favourite at the gym. It was in front of a giant window overlooking the city, so that helped, but it is more my style of torture, I mean fun.

When it comes to form, @Love_Is_Blonde, I find that I think about it often and usually more in activities that I'm more familiar with. It's pretty easy to let it slide as you fatigue, so I try to be cognizant about it. I have a couple of quick checks in my head for most activities/sports. Like if I'm running, a quick checklist starting at my shoulders and working to my feet to remind myself.

As for arms, seemingly all my activities and sports are lower body focused... I should probably mix in some upper body exercises.

Seriously though, the first time I used the rowing machine...

@Lmizzler that looks fun. Do you vary where you go or is this your regular route? It looks relaxing (except for when a train comes)?

Here is a pic from my walk this morning. Sunrise after a night of storms

Rosie!!!! I’m so glad you are giving this a shot. Thanks for participating.

Everyone’s starting point is different in fitness so don’t feel bad about where your point is at.
Is there anything we can do to help keep you motivated? Or anything we shouldn’t do? 😆

And thanks for being a great cheer leader! 📣

Thanks Miz 😊
I feel my first few days is probably gonna be a donkey/carrot kinda deal. I just need to figure out my incentive. Either that or I just get someone to follow me with a cattle prod or something 😁

I like @RosewoodTulip have been watching this thread, it has somewhat motivated or made me want to get back into swimming.

Before covid19, I used to swim a mile in the pool, maybe like 3 or more times a week.

I miss it, in the past 2 years I worked on my mental health and eating habits, have lost weight and feel great. Now I just need to add the physical back into my routine.

So my goal is to get back into the pool, even if it isn't the 70 laps like I used to without stopping. Have to build up to it.

And cheering you all on as well!

It is peaceful. I love it. I do generally go to the same place because it is so close to my house. But it’s a super long bike trail and I can go in either direction on it and change it up a little. Besides, I see tons of wildlife. This morning was deer, a family of raccoons, a bunny, and a bunch of different birds. Not to mention all the flowers that are in bloom.

The train track isn’t really an active track. They just use it to store cars off of the main line. I’ve only ever been on it one time when there was a training moving on it.

I had a gorgeous sunrise to enjoy this morning too. For a short time only since it includes my face.
