Nice work, @Cat !! I like rowing. Sometimes I feel like my form is off- like I’m not targeting the correct muscles. In addition to arms, I need to remember to engage my lats. When I remember to focus, it makes rowing a lot more effective.
This makes me wonder: do you all have to actively think, “ok now I’m going to target my lats (or whatever muscle)”, or do you just automatically fall into the correct form? This is a big thing that I use to psych myself out when I’m working out.
I am... Hmm... Well, I often check in on my own form: when rowing I feel it immediately - I will lose speed and having a sloppy floppy form/pose ..
But whether I am rowing, skiing, doing yoga, HIIT, tabata or lifting weights.. the right form is everything.
It is not always I am conscious about checking in.. it is more that it will feel.. wrong.. it is hard to describe it better, but.. the movements will not flow in the right way, and.. lower back pain... I am horrible prone to lower back pain, and having a sloppy floppy pose will guarantee me wincing and groaning like an old lady.
So, getting into the right form, is happening more and more automatically.
Hi
Hoping it's ok to just drop in like this. I've been reading up on this thread over the last few days and would like to join in as much as I can.
I'm very much starting from scratch. I've struggled with agoraphobia and other mental health issues over the years and my fitness levels have tanked. I'm trying not to feel ashamed but to seize the opportunity for change.
So my goal for this month is to get myself to a point where I can start to think about more focused workouts. I want to build up to 10000 steps a day and then be able to do that comfortably before introducing anything else.
I'll be cheering you all on as best as I can too
Yay!!! Welcome!!!!! - it was actually a Litster who encouraged me to go back to the gym, after having only been training at home and been running outside.
You fit right into here!
I want you both to know, my arms ached just reading these two posts
(Note to self: only challenge @Cat to arm wrestling immediately after she's done rowing)
Hahaha!!! Ahhhh... You would... Maybe... Probably... Win..
My morning ride. Great morning for it. But now I have legs like a baby giraffe.
Wow!!! What a peaceful view!!
@Lmizzler that looks fun. Do you vary where you go or is this your regular route? It looks relaxing (except for when a train comes)?
Here is a pic from my walk this morning. Sunrise after a night of storms
Ohh... Gosh!!! This is such a wonderful place to walk!!
I've been quiet as I've been feeling off these last few days...turns out I'm actually very ill
I'm cheering you all on whilst I take paracetamol and keep warm! Hope to be back on form next week!
Oh no!!! I hope you will feel better soon!!
Lots of tea and warm blankets for you!
I like @RosewoodTulip have been watching this thread, it has somewhat motivated or made me want to get back into swimming.
Before covid19, I used to swim a mile in the pool, maybe like 3 or more times a week.
I miss it, in the past 2 years I worked on my mental health and eating habits, have lost weight and feel great. Now I just need to add the physical back into my routine.
So my goal is to get back into the pool, even if it isn't the 70 laps like I used to without stopping. Have to build up to it.
And cheering you all on as well!
Welcome dear!! Getting back into the pool is a really good goal!
- I am cheering you on!!
