Another derby practice last night, another full body sweat. 💦 I'm so sore lol. The team was scrimmaging last night so it was fun to watch them play. I can't wait to be at their level but know I've got a lot of work to do! My feet are sore from skating on one foot. One of the skills we have to master is skating on one foot across one end of the rink and around the curve. I thought I had pretty good balance but the roller skates have humbled me. 😆 I'll get there though, and I'm having so much fun in the process!

Do you find that you use your upper body too? I’m trying to picture what I know about roller derbies (which is very limited), and I’m wondering if your arms get tired too? I bet it’s a good core workout also! How often do you meet during the week?

Is it pervy to find roller derbies hot? Rolling, grappling, barging, tumbling… fit women tussling… 🥵😂
 
Beach volleyball because bare flesh… but tennis because tennis players are just all-round athletically hottt… flexible, powerful, nimble… and, also, legs 🥵
Yeah volleyball is hot. And so difficult!! I don’t see how only two people cover so much area. It’s amazing to watch.

This is something I didn't expect on skates- it's not so much my arms, but my shoulders. The position we skate in is similar to a deadlift stance, so maintaining shoulders back and arms tucked in for 90 minutes can get tiring. The only other reason they get sore is from falling, but after learning how to fall properly that is slowly decreasing.

It is an amazing core workout since you're in a squat, trying to maintain balance and speed at once. I feel most of the soreness in my inner thighs and quads right now.

We have practices once a week, but on another night of the week the team practices and us trainees are allowed to come and practice skills along the periphery of the rink.

I agree with SB, it's not pervy to me but it's definitely sexy. These ladies are so strong and such great skaters. I'm there because I love to skate, but that is a nice bonus. 🙈
What is the sexiest sport to watch and why?
Men's soccer, or rugby... Those legs, and that sweat. 🔥
 
Last night was derby! I had a blast. My inner thighs were screaming last night so I ended up doing some yoga stretching for about 30 minutes after I got home because I could barely move my legs lol.

I got a fist bump from the coach on some of my techniques which have improved since last week so that was validating :D . I am feeling more comfortable on quad skates on a slippery rink, compared to inline skates on the road. I love that the women in my group are from all walks of life, varied ages, shapes and sizes. These women as badasses and I'm looking forward to next week already! 🛼🛼
Great that you had a wonderful time and got positive feedback from your coach. Stretching is a good way to cool down and let some of the tension dissolve. Might ask others on your squad for their advice ... I'm betting they have a range of options for you to consider.

I've been doing a lot of yoga after practices and that is definitely helpful!
 
Can anyone recommend a protein powder that doesn’t use Stevia?

I cannot stand the taste.

Something reasonably palatable. Vegan preferred, but not required. I don’t mind spending money.

Pure protein. It is not vegan though. This is one that comes recommended to me by my PT.

I’d be curious about other recommendations though.
 
Thank you, ladies! I'll check those out. The Blonyx sounds particularly attractive. No too sweet sounds right up my alley. I have yet to find one that is not just - blech, and hideously sweet. Even without Stevia.

I felt the same way. I tried some over the years and I couldn’t make myself drink them until I was suggested this one by my coach.

It's 90 degrees out this morning. I walked my son to school and after 20 minutes I was drenched in sweat. That qualifies for this thread, right?
Summer is the worst.
