A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

"Do you know how Kreeyar dehabitize a planet?"

The beautiful lavender woman stared up at the man who was staring down at her. There was no question that he was strong than her and had been through much more than she had been through,, more than she probably would ever go throguh but she... she couldn't be weak now could she? Of course not.

"I take it that since I haven't witnessed it first hand you won't hesitate to explain it to me?" she asked thinking that that was what he had wanted with that one. He wanted her to ask, he wanted to shock her into submission.

There wasn't much she could say to him. It was hard to believe in something so firmly, not that she had left her trust in that government in quite some time, when there was some who had witnessed all of it and knew that it was bad. She was silent.

"What do you want me to say to that? I can't take away any of your pain captain..." She stated slowly.

Ren began to explain. "First they launch their virus bombs. These bombs contain a virus that consumes all organic material, from the smallest amoeba, to the grass, the trees, to the people. It consumes, flesh, bone, blood, everything. The virus releases an explosive gas as a waste product. They then release inferno torpedos, which explode in the sky, igniting the gas, the gas explodes, and heats to hundreds of thousands of degrees. The oxygen of course, feeds the flame, The heat is so great that it burns away the atmosphere and melts the planetary crust. The planet runs red with molten rock, the mountains melt, ice caps melt, the seas evaporate. After the fires burn out, which can take years, the planet, now devoid of atmosphere, cools. All that is left is a blackened rock where a world full of life once existed. I had to watch from orbit, my ship nearly destroyed, much of my crew dead, as the greens and blues of Ogdru exploded into a maelstrom of fire." he said.

"There is nothing you can say to help, no words can take away those feelings. Imagine if you had to watch your planet die, all the while picturing the valleys and forests you played in as child burning and melting. That is why i hate the PGC and The Kreeyar, your meddling in the affairs of others caused these things to happen. I was sent to Xerxes with those pictures fresh in my mind, tormenting me to this day. This why I fight against your PGC and the Kreeyar, so that maybe someday no one else will have to experience these things."

Rynver sat there just sipping the coffee and debating what she was going to do there.... He was obviously upset and it was not frivolous. He had every right to be angry and she was frustrated that she had not known of such things when she was getting ready to serve on the council. Life was too strange that this would happen right before her meeting.

"Although... I know it means nothing... I..." She bit her lip slightly. "I would like to apologize for what I did to you... and for what my people did..." She said. Was it just a ploy to be set free?

"But there is nothing I can hope to do if I am locked up on your ship..."

"There is nothing you can hope to do anyway. Force is all that your people will respond to, and in your heart you know that to be true. For now, you will stay aboard, and be confined to quarters until I decide that you wont cause trouble. I will see to your needs, food and such like will be brought to you, and i will provide you with new clothes. While your here, it maybe in your interest to learn how to be a proper spacer. I may try to ransom you, i may keep you around for the hell of it. You have very little to say about it one way or another. Do i make myself perfectly clear?"

Max was at the security station in the docking bay watching the growing crowd of hunters outside the doors. He was kinda surprised to hear the captain's voice coming over the external speakers of the ship, because he hadn't seen the captain come in.

With one last look at the vid screen on the console to see a couple of drunks try to hack the lock on the doors (only to succeed in closing the blast doors), he headed back to the ship.

Max headed down the corridors to the captain's quarters, and upon arriving, knocked.

"You have very little to say about it one way or another. Do i make myself perfectly clear?"

She stared at him as he spoke and found herself disliking him more and more as he spoke. Oh, this was not going to be good that was for damn sure. She frownedat the question and wanted to bite back with some harsh words in hopes of catching him offguard and causing him to let her go.

But the chances of that really happening were slim to none so was there really a point? She didn't think so.

"Crystal..." She responded icily as she heard a knock at the door. So it was time to go and be locked up? Wonder-freaking-ful...

IC: "Not the best inventory and quite a bit of work to take what I want, but once you chop it up perhaps things would seem beter." I payed for my purchases and made my way out of the store holding the hunks of alloy.

I still had no idea how I would shape the alloy or place in the delecit cercitry, but I would manage, eventully.

She looked up at him. "That's it... That's all you're going to do is nod?" She asked thinking that this was terrible on his part. "This is outrageous..." She snapped angrily. She was tired of trying to be civil with him. He was a brute dammit... It was so much easier to live knowing that he was a brute and not this somewhat civilized being that he was proving himself to be.

Ren nodded and heard the knock at the door. "Computer Unlock." he said "Come in Max."

The door open for Max a moment later and he slithered in, raised up to the captain's eye level. He looked over at the bed and saw a blue skinned woman dressed in what Max took for a very fine gown. He only spared her a cursory glance before turning his attention to the captain.

"You called, sir?" hissed Max.

"Take Miss Zheyn to one of the free cabins, see that shes comfortable, and post one or two of your men outside the door. She is to be confined to quarters." Ren said. "Oh and Max? why is there a crowd of people outside my docking bay?"

Max turned his attention to the woman, this time acutally looking her over. She was fairly beautiful, for a biped, at least. She sure didn't look like a pirate, but then again, neither did Max.

"New crew member causing trouble already, sir?" asked Max, still eyeing the woman with an unreadable expression on his face. "Speaking of crew members causing trouble, we still have the Kreeyar in the brig, sir."

Then the captain asked about the crowd. Max turned his gaze back to the captain. "I believe they are hunters, sir. Some professional, some drunk. They're here to hunt."

"No lad, shes an important PGC official. I may ransom her or i may just let her go later on. In any case, she is to be treated with some measure of hospitality. Let it be known that if any of the crew get, over-zealous, They will be subject to summary execution. I don't brook that kind of behaviour on my ship." Ren said. "Leave the kreeyar in the brig. Consider him a gift for your services." ren added. "And the men outside are here to hunt you? Well we cant have that can we? I shall go sort them out." Ren said "Any questions?" he asked looking at both of them.

So, the captain found out about the PGC official before I could inform him. Oh well, at least I have the other information still, thought Max.

"Just two more things, sir," began Max. "One: one of the drunks out there tried to hack the doors but only succeeded in sealing the blast doors. You might have some difficulty getting out, as well as preventing them from getting in. Two: when you have the chance, sir, I would like to have a word with you, later."

Max then waited for the woman to ask any questions she might have before taking her out of the room.

"Ill put out a call to the port authority, and you may of course have a word with me." Ren said, refilling his mug.

For a moment the beautiful young thing was surprised at how he had said such things to the basilisk. Her features turned in a frown and so harsh before had in fact evened out and looked more than a little surprised. He really wasn't a bad person... had she made such a huge mistake all those years ago?

"Leave the kreeyar in the brig. Consider him a gift for your services." ren added. "And the men outside are here to hunt you? Well we cant have that can we? I shall go sort them out. Any questions?"

She bit her lip a little trying to think of something. "I'm... I um..." She shook her head that she had no questions before allowing herself to be led out.

Max led the woman out of the room and down the corridor in silence. Several turns here and there, they were outside a vacant room. Max opened it and ushered the woman in without a sound.

He moved over to the console in the room and disabled it, so she wouldn't be able to use the controls on it even if she figured out the codes. As he did so he told her that he would bring her food and water three times a day himself, and that she will be monitored round the clock.

He then left and locked the door from the outside using his personal security code. He then found one of security personnel he was in charge of and told them to stand guard outside the room, armed with a phase pistol. At the same time, Max had one of his slithering companions position itself in the air vent to the room the woman was in. It had a perfect view, able to see the entire room and still not be seen.

Once all this was done, Max went to find the captain.

Ren breathed a sigh of relief and lounged on his bed. "Become a pirate they said. See the 'verse they said. Shoulda read that fine print on that one." he said sipping his kona.

Max returned to the captain's cabin, to speak with him as agreed. Max was sure that the information that he had gotten from Phiah, aka Ratty, would prove of great value. And, if the captain was especially savvy, he could potentially make even more money selling the info to other pirates.

Upon arriving at the captain's quarters, he knocked once again.

rengadeirishman said:
"Its open." Ren said barely moving his head.

Max slithered in as the door opened for him, and gave the captain a courteous nod. He waited for the captain to address him before speaking.

"Sir, earlier this morning, I went to find an informant that I know of, and upon finding and confronting him, I acquired some very profitable information," began Max. "Information regarding an important Kreeyar operation."

Max then fell silent so the captain can prompt him. It was all about building interest.

"By all means continue." Ren said, "If youd like some Kona theres a fresh pot on the counter." he said, taking a sip.

Max looked over at the pot of "kona" as the captain had called it, but simply declined as he continued.

"The Kreeyar are planning a convoy that will travel through Wild Space. The origin point is somewhere in PGC territory where they have had recent success in their campaign. The convoy's route will take them right through the thick of the Transitory Mists. In order to cross through them, they must come out of warp space. It will take them half an standard hour to get to the otherside where they can make warp," said Max. "Do you know what the convoy is carrying sir?"

This last question was more of a rhetorical question, but was nonetheless necessary to get the captain's attention.

Ren sat up, intrigued. "No i do not know. Weapons and supplies most likely."

Max smiled. This was what he was expecting. "And personnel, sir. Soldiers and captives."

Then Max's expression turned to his usual stoic expression, with a tinge of seriousness. "But it is not an easy target sir. There are 10 ships in the convoy, five of them unarmed freighters. Two are frigate class warships, one corvette, and two gunships, with the usual fighter escort that goes with the frigates. There is apparently some sort of high value cargo on board one of those ships to warrant such escort, but even my informant didn't know," Max concluded, knowing full well that he had the captain's full attention know. All he had to do was wait for the crucial question before giving up the last bit of info: when the convoy would pass through the Transitory Mists.
