A Pirates Life for Me. (IC)

Ren took it all in. His mouth watered at such a prospect. But how? the Vengeance was a powerful ship, but not a match for several kreeyar warships with a full complement of fighters. "When will they pass through the Mists?" he asked, trying to think of a way to capitalize on this information.

Max knew that the captain's mind must be in overdrive. Any self-righteous pirate would gladly spill innocent blood for this information, or if innocent blood wasn't available, empty their bank accounts for it.

"They will pass through the Mists one week from tomorrow," replied Max. Now he was wondering if the captain would be inquiring on how Max's informant got this information, for it is highly unlikely that such valuable information would slip easily outside of a secure area.

"One week from tomorrow?" Ren said, still thinking of a way to get his hands on whatever it was the kreeyar were transporting. "How would an informant on Wyman Sylry get this kind of information?" he asked. "Sounds high military to me."

Max simply nodded when the captain repeated when the convoy would be most vunerable.

"This informant happened to get lucky," began Max. "I questioned him myself, so I know he was telling the truth. Apparently, a pair of Kreeyar operatives working to check the route before the convoy came through, went into the bar where the informant usually lurked. He, aside from the bartender, was the only one in there. The operatives got their drinks and moved to the shadows. They underestimated the hearing ability of the informant, plus they though he was too drunk to remember anything if he did happen to hear."

"Indeed, he was drunk, but his memory is impecable when he's drunk. That's how he manages to collect some of the best intel, when other's think he's too drunk to remember," continued Max. "Anyways, the operatives got to talking quietly when the bartender went into the back of the bar. And then you can piece together the rest."

"Aye," Ren said, thinking everything over. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention Max. A very useful bit of information it is." he said, "I think i shall go for a walk, Port Authority should have cleared the riffraff away by now, and fixed the blast doors." He said getting up and opening the door. "Basilisks are damn good to have around."

You have no idea, Captain, of the resources I can command, thought Max, as the captain moved to take a walk.

"One more thing, sir," said Max. "Our guest is secure." And then he was gone, slithering off to an undetermined location.

Rynver had never been one to do anything that could make her look like the unsavory sort but it wasn't long before she lost her temper and kicked over a chair in frustration. She was not happy with how things were going and she was far from happy with the outcome of this 'trip' as it were.

She was going to put every last one of these cretins in prison and she was going to lock the fucking door herself. She finally huffed loudly and landed on the bed on her back staring up at the ceiling. "There has to be something I can do..." She mumbled to herself before sitting up and turning over to effectively crawl to the head of the small bed.

She collapsed face down in the pillow and grumbled.

"Lights off..." She said and she was left in the dark.

She wouldn't sleep that was for damn sure but the dark was more soothing for her. Maybe she could calm her fragile nerves if she wasn't distracted with her current situation...

Yeah it would help to not see where she was at the moment...

IC: "Why the hell did she take so long returning. Hell her gaurds got back first, wasn't that what she wanted." I grumbled.

"I do her a favor and her body gaurds herass me. Hell if they didn't slack off I bet they'd know where she was."

I stepped back onto the ships walk way after a long day. I entered a quick code and headed to my room.

Ren walked out through the corridors of the ship and ran into Jenifur. "Hello number one, I was just going for a stroll. You have the ship. Make sure our "guest" is taken care of if you would."

IC: Ren walked out of the shadows of the corridor and into the light. 'Hello number one, I was just going for a stroll. You have the ship.' I nodded. 'Make sure our "guest" is taken care of if you would.'

"Guest? I thought max ate the caption."

"No not the captain. I have taken an important PGC official hostage. A lawyer, the lawyer that sent me to hell on Xerxes. She was walking around unarmed and unguarded! Can you believe that?" Ren said.

IC: "Sounds like one dumb son of a bicth to me... wait, if she is a she then... One dumb daughter of a bitch." I smiled catching my social mistake.

"So she in the brig?"

Ren chuckled "Nay, shes in a cabin, Max has a man outside it. You may visit her if you like." He said. "Well, I'm off. If anyone asks, im out for a stroll."

IC: "Understood, I am off to relax too. Some thugs bugged me when a friend didn't return." A shower would be good.

"i dont blame ya, take care of the ship." Ren said walking off toward the ramp.
A walk would do him good.

Rynver sneezed completely unaware of the things being said to her. She briefly wondered if that saying was true... If you sneeze someone's thinking of you. She frowned for a moment before closing her eyes to rest them.

She wasn't crying or anything.

Elsewhere...

Pirate King Dolumar reclined in the captains chair aboard the flagship World Eater in orbit over WS9 and reviewed the information on Captain Rengakus Sejisilic Navarone'naya'gall. "Thats where you've been Ren, all this time. I had thought you dead." Dolumar looked down from the dais toward a group of raiders. "Bring me Captain Ren, and do not harm a fur on his body." The Pirate King ordered. "Immediately Majesty." the leader of the band said, bowing.

Meanwhile, on the edges of the system, a Kreeyar daggership came out of warp. "He is here. Engage cloak and prepare for landing." The dark captain said. "Tell the strike teams to make ready." "Aye Sir." his subordinate said, bowing.

In far galactic north of Wildspace, in the nagammadi asteroid belt, deep inside a moon sized asteroid with a synthetic atmosphere, sits a laboratory. This asteroid was home to small but growing alliance, dedicated to freeing the galaxy from the endless wars of the PGC and the Kreeyar Empire. This alliance had gathered the most brilliant minds in the 'verse, people tired of interference from the galactic powers. In this laboratory, a tentacled Kthul scientist looked up from his genetic sequencer. "I have done it."

One-eye left his room, where he had went when he boarded the ship. He accessed a computer terminal and located the lawyer Ren had captured. He noted the location of her cabin and walked there. A burly Riada stood outside the door, a pulse rifle in his hands. "I would speak with the prisoner." He said in a firm voice. "My orders were to allow only Chief Max and the Captain in." the guard said. One-eye focused a moment, extending his ken toward the guard. "But I am sure they would not protest your entrance." the guard said, unlocking the door. "Many thanks young one." One-eye said smiling, as the door slid open. "I would speak with you my child." One-eye said to the prone form of Ryn, turning on the light.

Rynver sat up when she heard the door open and the light suddenly turned on. She gasped, hissing from the light that hurt her eyes. She got used to it after a moment. She looked up at the man, it wasn't the captain but it was the same species.

"Are you going to chastize me too?" She asked. She didn't get that same hatred vibe from him. He didn't seem to be the sort to hate on anyone he didn't know and maybe that was what she was looking for. She felt very much at ease.

She sighed.

"I'm sorry... Why do you wish to speak with me?"

"Introductions first, i should think. I am called One-eye by all who do not know the truth of me. I am counselor aboard this ship." One-eye said, taking a seat. "It is I who saved Rengakus, I was living on Xerxes, outside the penal colony. and found him maimed."

"I am Rynver Zhyen, I am the prosecuter who put Captain Ren on Xerxes..." She didn't sound proud of it. She wasn't bragging, it was the simple truth of the situation and she just needed him to know that that was the way that it was.

She looked down at her hands for a moment before looking up at him.

"So what is it that you need of me?"

"I need you to understand, young one. Rengakus is not an evil man." One-eye said. "I was abbot of a monastery dedicated to Mighty Sakiyan, Lord of Blades. I suppose in terminology you'd be familiar with, I was a warrior priest. To be truthful though, among the followers of Blessed Sakiyan, there is no distinction between priest and warrior, they are one and the same. Tell me young one, do your people have gods?" he asked.

"We are Jahad, our souls are bound to Ogdru and the god's who created her. We are warriors by blood. You must understand, Rengakus was of clan Sejisilic. Bound by sacred duty and oaths of blood, old as time, to be the Paladins of Ogdru. His blood is afire with the cry of the warrior. The destruction of Ogdru shook him to the core of his soul. He does not believe in the gods, and would not admit to this. In truth he may not quite realize it. But it is the way of things. By his very nature, his heart cries for vengeance and for zarku like your government to atone for their crimes in blood. He is lost, and consumed with hatred." One-eye said. "He is young and intemperate. One day he will learn to achieve inner harmony in the face of outward strife. But you must understand why he has done this, and know that despite his words, he will not harm you."

Somewhere in the dock -which includes the ship-, hidden in shadows, was Max. He was seemingly sound asleep, but in truth he was only dozing. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, and in the darkness, his yellow eyes blazed. One of his companions had just alerted him to something. Someone was visiting the guest; someone without authorization: the one called One-eye.

Max thought about confronting him, but decided against it. He would go to the captain, and if the captain questioned, Max would provide evidence. It would be difficult, but Max could reply the entire event, complete with audio and visual elements, for the captain.

Now, just to find the captain. Max's tongue flicked out to try and pick up the captain's scent. Not here. Maybe back at the ship.

Back at the ramp, Max picked up the captain's scent, and he proceeded to follow it, keeping out of sight as much as possible.

At the question of Gods she hesitated. "We used to celebrate and praise Gods but it has long since been put to a halt. The PGC has complete control and.... well being tht my father was a representative it was imperative that we set an example of what the entire planet should be like." She explained. Rynver really didn't like that aspect and it was one of the many things she was fighting for. "There are, of course, still factions that worship but nothing like they used to..." She said.

And as One-eye spoke she felt it was her duty to listen to him. He knew things that she didn't and was wise enough to explain them without getting emotional like the Captain. It was not too unlike her own culture, true, they were no warriors but they had the 'old gods', as they were called now, and they were still accepted in some sects on the planet.

"He is young and intemperate. One day he will learn to achieve inner harmony in the face of outward strife. But you must understand why he has done this, and know that despite his words, he will not harm you."

"Oh do not mistake me One-eye. I may seem afraid, and I am deep down, but I am not afraid of your Captain. Well not for the usual reasons. I believe that he will not harm me, I believe that he will not touch me or allow anyone else to touch me in some inappropriate way." She explained.

She smiled warmly at him. "Actually... I thought you were coming to tell me he wasn't the Captain, he doesn't seem at all like a pirate to me," she said. It was meant as a compliment but after a moment she didn't think the Captain would think so highly of it. "I would prefer you not tell him that I said that... A bit of a blow to his ego..." She explained her thinking to the elder.

"So you rescued him..." She thought about it. "Well... I'm glad... and yet if you hadn't I wouldn't be being held a prisoner now..." She commented lightly.

"Aye, I rescued him. No Jahad should have to die the way he was going to." One-eye said. "The god's tell me you have an important part to play in this saga."
