He used a translator. And how would he know there's a difference? 'Sides he's lost his argument, now he just wants to stir up shit.

I haven't asked you to believe in mine either just asking that you understand it
--I do. I WAS a Biblical inerrantist just like you once! I believed this stuff fervently before I really started looking at it and saw all the problems with it. I understand you. I still think you're wrong. So do most Christians in the world today.

www.religioustolerance.org is a good source for research! They do their best to describe religions from the points of view of their followers and do a very good job of, e.g., explaining the differences between the various forms of Christianity.

Well then I'm happy for you. You shouldn't even have bothered posting here though instead you should have gone to hang out with dragon boy and the girl, they are you're kinda people it seems. Good luck in your search. No offence but you have no idea what most Christians in the world today think.

Dear if you truly understood it you wouldn't have a problem with it. Instead you want to live for you. You are not like me, you have no idea what I'm really like. To suggest that is arrogance. And the problems aren't in the Bible they are in the way you choose to interprate it.

Can you please show me where I said anyone HAS to believe in what I believe in, or where I've said as you qoute "I'm right, and you better see it"?
--Sure. Here's an example.

I still think you don't truly understand the Bible enough to make some of the satements you've made

You're only saying this because I disagree with you. You don't know that I don't understand the Bible. All you know is that I disagree with you about it. This is arrogant of you.

It's because they don't truly understand it that they disagree with it.

That, too, is arrogance. People like me DO understand it and disagree with it. When you say things like this, you are acting judgemental and ignorant. Stop it.

Sting:
All I have tried to do is explain that you shouldn't talk down about the Bible if you don't fully understand it
--And you've defined "fully understanding it" as agreeing with YOU. That is arrogant. Besides, honestly, you don't have credibility on this subject. You didn't even remember that the entire Old Testament was written by Jews and yet you said Jews "oppose the Bible." If you can't even get that right, why should we believe you understand the rest of the Bible?

Think for a moment about how that looks before replying. Really. Think.

When you arrogantly assume you have a perfect understanding of the book that Christians themselves can't agree on the meaning of and haven't for over two thousand years, and deny anyone else the right to understand or interpret it differently, why do you expect anyone to treat you better than you've treated them?

You are coming off as a self-righteous arrogant git here. Whether you want to or not, you are, and for the reasons I listed above.

Lurking? I'm not lurking, I'm doing research. Doesn't matter what language it is you got the point. I see you had to bring your buddy to come help defend you again.

Kinda hard to impress someone with your knowledge when you don't know the difference.

Nope I don't stir things up, I don't have to. And I didn't lose, you did but you aren't smart enough to realize it yet.

So now we're just sniping at each other here?

right well get on with it. I'll be back if I see any signs of sensible debate over here.*L*

LMBO what ever gave you the idea I was trying to impress anyone with my knowledge? I certainly wasn't trying to impress you because you couldn't possibly understand enough of anything to be impressed.

You're entertaining as hell!!!!

Tell me more...

Sting response again...yes, I love pain! ;)

prove God didn't do all those things
--Prove that Allah and Lord Ganesha didn't create the world. :)

I'm telling you the truth
--As you see it. Unfortunately, there's no objective evidence that you're telling The Truth (tm), so I'll go on believing in my truth instead.

You shouldn't even have bothered posting here
--Sure I should have! :) Don't tell me how to use my time here. I'll use it any way I like.

You never know how many people were encouraged that not everyone believes in a God or Gods who will torture them forever because they don't agree with my theology.

You never know, some day you may well look at your own religion and realize "Hey, Kass was right!" :)

If I've even shown one person here that non-Christians are people, too, it was worth posting here.

Sting response

you should have gone to hang out with dragon boy and the girl
--No boys or girls post on Literotica. I'm sorry you're so angry that you're willing to insult anyone who disagrees with you. May you read your Bible again, the New Testament this time, and find the courage to apologize for your insults and the kindness to wish us all well.

you have no idea what most Christians in the world today think.
--No, I think it's you with no idea what most Christians think. :) What are the major tenets of Roman Catholicism? How about the Eastern Orthodox Catholics?

Roman Catholicism has the most members of any Christian body in the world today, by the way.

Sting Response: Return of Sting!

if you truly understood it you wouldn't have a problem with it.
--Wrong. :)

you want to live for you.
--Please give evidence for this point or retract it. :) Where have I said "I don't care about anyone but me and have nothing in mind as a goal but my own selfish desires"?

I'll help you out. Nowhere. You're assuming without evidence that because I'm no longer part of your religion, I have no unselfish goals or desires. That's kind of nasty of you.

You are not like me
--But that's a good thing, isn't it? If we were all alike, it'd be hard to keep things straight.

the problems aren't in the Bible
--Hon, they are. Honest. Christians have been arguing about them amongst themselves for years and years. Try looking up some of the things Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Catholics believe and argue about some time.

I gave up, precisely around the time that it was said that I failed to answer anything asked of me. When the converation starts forgetting itself, it's time to get out.

You're only saying this because I disagree with you. You don't know that I don't understand the Bible. All you know is that I disagree with you about it. This is arrogant of you.

Kassiana, I am not saying anything just because you disagree with me. Ask another Christian that still believes and they will tell you the same thing. If you truly understand the Bible, not as I do but as God intended you to, you wouldn't have a problem with it. You look but you don't see.

That, too, is arrogance. People like me DO understand it and disagree with it. When you say things like this, you are acting judgemental and ignorant. Stop it.

Disagreeing with the Bible is sometimes common to all Christians at one time or another. That's how we can know it's the word of God because try as you might if you have the understanding and the knowledge you can't refute it.

Was I saying I didn't remember if the Jews wrote the Bible or was I asking you if you believed they did? I also believe Joe explained that all of the Bible wasn't written by Jews.
It's my understanding that the Jews do oppose the Bible Thats why they read the Talmud isn't it? Honestly not knowing who wrote the Old Testament doesn't matter to me as much as believing in it does. I'm going to pray for you because most of my prayers for others get answered. Until you seek advice from outside this forum I really can't help because like the others you are just looking to argue not to truly believe that God wants you to understand the Bible as he meant us to.

Sting response

It's my understanding that the Jews do oppose the Bible
--Then you understand incorrectly. The Jews follow the Old Testament, which is the Bible as much as the New. :)

Thats why they read the Talmud isn't it?
--Nope. The Talmud is an explanation of the Old Testament teachings by some of their rabbis.

all of the Bible wasn't written by Jews.
--Since I never said it was, this is irrelevant.

I'm going to pray for you
--Prayer for my well-being is always accepted, as long as it's done in love, and not the anger I've seen from you on here.

you are just looking to argue
--Nope. Wrong again. :) You don't know me. Don't pretend that you do. Okay? You were offended by some things I said which you thought were me assuming things about you. Don't do the same to me.

not to truly believe that God wants you to understand the Bible
--I believe the Gods want us to understand that all holy books are flawed, human-biased, and not to be used as a literal depiction of themselves. But I welcome your good wishes. I hope this civil post from you will end the insult battle here.

Oh, dear. Perhaps coming here was a mistake. Is everyone here like this?

Not at all Agnes. If you fancy some waffles then pop over to my"Christian Reders and writers" thread. we do get a bit debatey form time to time but mostly we're pretty relaxed and welcoming :)

Yeah sorry I got a little carried away as I am want to do when I have to defend myself. That's a part of my depression but don't worry I'm not angry with you, just frustrated with some of the others, and I took some of that out on you.

I think this discussion is moot anyway because it doesn't seem to me that any one really wants to talk just argue, and I got caught up in that. I will pray for your well being, and NOT that you understand or believe in what I say. I'd never ask that. I'll also pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you and keep you well.

Take care and I look forward to talking to you again soon on a subject that isn't so hotly debated. :) :rose:

Heya Agnes! Don't get scared off on my account. Religious debate can bring out the worst in people. Just stick to the sex and you'll probably be all right. :D You didn't come here to talk religion, did you?
