Aine - A New RP Thread (OOC)

Probably not. Last time it was Raven I think I could be wrong.

Q don't mind me, giving one a hard time is my way of saying I am comfortable around you. (The trouble is I do it in person too, so feel bad for my girl friend.)

You must of picked on Raven somewhere else and probably between the time you picked on me and now. Oh well, at least it seems you've gotten the point.

Disregard my sig for a moment and let me state. "Self Reflection is a bitch."

*Clears throat* Self reflection is a bitch.

I do feel sorry for the poor lass... On that issue you are right. On everything else... Well, that's an open subject.:D

Qyron, just to let you know, I intend for my character to not wake up until well past sun up. So, you might as well post what your character does until then. Oh, and another thing...did your character take my character's weapons, including the short katanas?

What's going on with the IC thread? Did the thing died off?:(

No, it hasn't died off just yet. Things are simply slow here in the ORP at the moment. Most of the regulars aren't showing up and posting regularly for some reason, and due to that, the more popular threads like Illusion Vale and Star Wars The Force Wars have slowed down to the point that they appear dead.

Well, he simply picked up the poor guy from the ground. The bow is there, as I've mentioned. If the blades were in their scabbards, I'd assume they would be there also, pilled up somewhere. After all, the elf did get a blunt force trauma to the head - and a really nasty one, as you said - the wound is on his forehead. No need to strip the guy down. But taking away the "junk" that can rip the bedroll is wise...

Oh... And sharpening his blades will be an all-night task to Nayil. And take in consideration his high suspition on anything else that is capable of reasoning. He won't be sleeping until he gets to talk to the elf, to decide if he his a commoditie or a lyabilitie.

You can pretty much post as soon as you are ready.

So, he removed the two blades (still in their scabbards) from the hunter's back and laid them off to the side, yes?

And what do you think the odds are that our characters speak the same language, hm? Probably not all that good.

We can assume this as true, for sanity keeping purposes. :D

Not good, I admit, but remember Nayil is a traveller. He's been to a lot of places and will speak a lot of languages - if not perfectly, at least is able to mutter a few words.

He's a man, for the love of the gods! He's not a monster! Or his he?...

And even if they are not able to speak to one another imediatly, it will be quite interesting to see they try. Are thinking to make the elf run for his life as soon as he has his eyes open? That's hard...

Good thing the weapons aren't within arm's reach; the hunter probably would have grabbed a blade and chucked it at you as a reflex upon waking with someone nearby. Keep in mind, he's been alone for years. He isn't the most sociable guy around. And it just might be that when he wakes up, he'll start talking in the language of his homeland, a language that is mostly lost (as far as he knows, he's the only one that still speaks it, let alone knows it). It might take him awhile to figure out that he needs to talk in the trade language, and even then it will be a rough accent.

As for running, not going to happen. He was only unconscious from the head wound until midnight. The rest of the time he was asleep. Oh, and waking up to the sound of some strange man (a big man at that) sharpening an axe ain't exactly a good thing.

I've been doing some math and that's true

Elf / Nayil
5'11 / 7'08 - Height
155 / 298 - Weight

I wouldn't be very confortable to wake up an see this contrast beside me, when lying on my back, either!

For the language barrier issue, I would assume he (the elf) speaks a somewhat elven language. Even if mostly lost, it will most probably have some links to the more common elves dialects.

But even if this is not true (Athalyn is a very, very, very unknown language to most peoples, for reality check to myself), at least there will be always the postures and gestures of agressive and non-agressive behaviour. This will be fun.

The two guys even share some traits - suspition toward others, not very sociable, hardened by life... This is the typical situation where need can break barriers.

Ever read Jean Auel romance "The Clan of the Cave Bear"?

Well, I'll get to work on the elf's reaction. Don't expect it in the next ten to twelve hours, because it's past 2:30 am here and bed time is soon, although not so soon that we can't chat a little more.

As for the book, never read it, let alone heard of the author.

I'll wait, no problem.

And I'm not surprised about the book. The author is mostly famous in Europe. But if you can, try to get it. I used a lot of references from that work to develop my world and peoples.

But I wish you a good night sleep. Here it's 10h53 AM.

Eight hour difference. Sounds about right.

As for the book, what genre is it?

Well, I lack the speech capabilitie to describ it.

It's somewhat fantasy, but not like DnD. It's a story set in the last ice age, where a young girl is raised by neanthertals, after losing her family.

So, the most likely place that I'd find it in at a book store would be in the sci-fi/fantasy section, I bet.

Yes. It's where I find them back here. Fiction novells is a hot spot to look in too.

But be prepared: it's a hard to read book. Kinda "heavy" on the writting. No gore, but it can get boring sometimes. But I recomend it.

It used to be a mandatory book to university students here, for those following degrees in languages.

Eh, I'll look into it when I get the time.

Well, it's late here, past 4 am, so I'm off to bed. Good day to you, Qyron.

The Clan of the Cave Bear is a very famous book, I've heard of it before. If I remember correctly from what I heard, the main character is female and a cromagnin, (or since I almost certinly spelled that wrong the race humans decends from,) she is adopted by Neanderthals and learns how to make fire and stone spears and so on, she then teaches our ancestors how to do so.

OH MY FREAKING GAWD!!!

I absolutely LURVE!!! the Earth's Children series!!!!!!!!!

I've been waiting for so long for the last one... at last count was about four years now, I think... Hmmm.. I'll check on that later. I'm glad she's not gonna croak.

I was never really aware that it was a romance... but I think because she tended to write heavily in the historical accuracy department I never really took it to be romance. But you know what... that seems about correct. I mean, who could really trump Ayla's and Jondalar's love?

Qyron, have you read the rest of the series? Or just the first (Clan of the Cave Bear?) cause if you haven't, then I'd thoroughly recommend reading the rest.

Well, most of that went right over my head. Oh well, that was kinda to be expected.

Anyways, Wolfsister, good to see you back online. How are you?
