Aine - A New RP Thread (OOC)

Eh, people who have read it will know what I'm talking about. Though I'm not sure you would like it Jedi...

Anyway, I'm doing okay. Playing a lurking and catching up game at the moment and putting in my two cents when I want to.

Good to hear you're doing okay.

I have a question regarding the Vale and Elmhand's situation: are there any trees around that Elmhand could make use of?

While this should be restricted to my own OOC I will answer the question.

Elmhand is currently in a grassland which ends in a forest (The Spirit Forest) to the south east about a kilometer away from you. I'm too lazy to put that into miles at the moment so you'll have to convert it. I do believe that 60 miles is roughly 100 kilometers. The tree line is also situated behind the NightStalker, so youll have to go around or through it to get to them.

Also, in your current weakened state and the newness of your abilities, you cannot control or manipulate the trees in any way to help you physically due to distance. But you can still hear and talk to them. Perhaps they can give you some advice.

The grasslands stretch to the north and east of you almost endlessly. Needless to say, the horizon looks green behind you.

I hope that helps.

And I would suggest defeating the NightStalker soon... and brilliantly. That goop is bound to do some damage.

A kilometer is less than a mile. And Elmhand should be able to cover that distance relatively quickly, provided the Night Stalker ignores him for a bit, hence why I'm considering have Elmhand ask Bekka to distact the Night Stalker while he makes a dash for the trees. I have a plan that I hope will work.

Well, I'm sure Becca will be more than happy to help. Just ask and I will make sure she does, seeing as I'm controlling her at the moment. If it means that you will defeat the Stalker, then I'm more than happy to help. Even if I am kind of making it difficult for you at the same time.

Ah good. I sure hope my plan works. Of course, it sorta revolves around Bekka taking and holding the Night Stalkers nearly undivided attention while Elmhand does what he needs to, which, as was the case with Elmhand showed, ain't exactly a good thing. ;)

These last few post were uterly indecent...

Wolfsister, I can only say this:

The Valley of Horses (first one of the saga I've read)
The Clan of the Cave Bear (the second one - drove me mad reading it)
The Mammoth Hunters (it was released as a two volume edition in Portugal, adding up to nearly 600 pages; the Ayla and the other guy affair almost led me to tears)
The Plains of Passage, (ditto for this one - two volumes, almost 600 pages. Can't get enough of it)
The Shelters of Stone (haven't read yet. I'm waiting it's release in Portugal)

I spent almost €100 in one month to buy the entire saga and spent 12 days reading it. This, 5 years ago. I've read it about 6 times the entire saga.

Yes, Ayla and Jondalar are the best and I do hope they can keep together and raise their baby in peace, although that does not look very much likely, I would say.:( What can I say: I'm a romantic...

But as an individual, this saga made me think a lot. There are many modern day problems depicted troughout the entire work, cut down to a very raw level, that if someone is sensible can not put them aside. I recommend this work.

I've managed to read all of them. You'll like Shelters of Stone... it made my heart break for the two of them. And as always, Ayla manages to wow everybody she meets :D

I'm surprised you read Valley of the Horses first. It must of confused you as to the references of Clan of the Cave bear, but I'm glad you found the first volume and was able to read up on Ayla's history. Its fascinating the way Auel has depicted her world and her characters. Very strong writer.

As I said, I'm still awaiting her last book. We're told that this will end the Saga once and for all.

I would have to say that the Mammoth Hunters and Plains of Passage would be my favourites though. Heck... they're all good :D

This is sad. Why do we live in a world were every one hates orcs?

I had an idea for a character that would add some spice to the storyline.

I noticed in one of your beginning info posts that you mentioned "Intelligent animals". What about having one in your party?

Such as...

Name: Risa (pronounced Rice-ah)

Gender: Female

Species: Higher King Cheetah

Age: 7

Height: 90 Centimeters

Weight: 40 kilograms

Eyes: Pale Amber

Hair: Silvery fawn with inky-brown stripes down the center of her back, and slightly lighter spots

Alignment: Neutral Good

Profession: None

General Description: A rare King Cheetah female, on the smaller side, with dense soft fur and large expressive eyes that conveys her level of intelligence.

Pic here:
king-cheetah.jpg

Equipment: Wears a thin silver herringbone patterned 'necklace' style collar around her throat.

Strengths: Can reach running speeds of up to 115 kph in a burst of as few as three seconds. Razor sharp semi-retractable claws and canines, jaws capable of crushing up to medium-density bone. Her purr is rumored to have hypnotically soothing qualities. Her ability to understand many humanoid languages gives her the chance to communicate effectively with many races and also with other animals, higher and not. Her experience in hunting trips has given her a sharpened sense of smell and keen hearing/sight.

Weaknesses: Cannot withstand top running speed for more than a few seconds. Small size makes her close combat strength weaker than that of larger animals. Sometimes she has a difficult time understanding human concepts such as religion, love, hate, and killing for purposes other than defense/food.

Background: Raised in captivity in Aine for hunting purposes (like many other animals) , Risa was favored by the princess for her affinity towards humanoid companionship. She travels with the princess and occasionally has slept in or near the princess's quarters. Since she was a kitten, Risa has been a playmate and friend of many of the royal family, and also has a close relationship with the King. Risa has been on many hunting expeditions, both necessary and pleasure hunts.

Interesting concept, satin. A question about the background though: was it aggreed to by Questing_Maiden?

And, pending QM's approval, welcome to the thread.

i'm sure that she is merely presenting her concept for QM's perusal and acceptance or non-acceptance in whole or in part.

Well, I felt it needed to be asked.

While you're here, Ren, what's up with The Force Wars?

Edit: Ah, damn it! Why can't I pin people down so I can get some answers?

I like this girl, she thinks outside of the box. :)

Anytime.

I hardly ever play anything 'normal' myself. Just gotta make it 'interesting' for everyone involved. ;)

My favorite roles to fill have been filled already, so I decided I'd do something a little unusual this time. ^_^

i always found being a healer boring. I'm always some sort of warrior, having people with bows preparing ambush is a stretch for me lol

Risa

Excellent, Satin! I'll put her up on the IC cast list ASAP.

Sorry for being quiet lately, folks! I've been busier than I anticipated. My next IC post should be up within the next day or so (hopefully tonight), and I'll incorporate Risa into my next post, if she is to be a companion to Lisika.

I'm trying to get replies sent out to the PM's I've received while I was gone-- I really appreciate the patience all of you have had with me. Let me know when I miss something important, just as you have been doing-- it's a huge help!

One question for Satin: For those of us who aren't overly familiar with felines, what would be Risa's rough age equivalent in human years? i.e.: in what stage of her life does she find herself?

Anyway, thanks again for your patience, everyone!

Oh, and Satin--

If you're interested in playing more than one character, you're more than welcome to do so! :D

Same goes for everyone else! :)
