He did his normal,"hang out in the back " all day then never was able to make it up any farther than what he did. I think he needs to rethink his strategy!!

Yup...or at least try to force his way up the last fifty laps  At least he didn't get caught by that mess that Tony caused lol

Im glad i didnt pay 120.00 a ticket to see that caution ending crap!!!!:D

Yup  Can't believe they let it end like that....more importantly, I can't believe the fans reacted like that  Geez, we're trying to brush off the redneck image and they're throwing beer cans onto the track *shakes head sadly* I really do believe Jr would have won if they'd raced to the finish...and that's not just my anti-Jeff Gordon side talking ;)

I totally agree on all points. I was there with my brother his S/O and their kids. 11 cautions made for a very long day. The green flag racing was superb...when they were running green. As for the fiasco at the finish, I grabbed every one and told 'em that it's time to get out of here. I was really afraid that it would turn into a riot. Every one of the other top 5 drivers got robbed. They should have red flagged it with 4 to go and get the last 2 laps green.

Still washing the beer off...yuk...I don't do beer

*nods* Clean off the track and then let them finish...however, that didn't excuse the fan's behavor one iota. There are lots of families that attend the races, impressionable kids...they don't need to see that kind of behavior and think it's acceptable because it's NASCAR. *guess that could be the mom in me talking though lol*

It was rude and very unacceptable behavior they displayed. Sometimes I wish there was a way the officials could fine the fans

What happened was so far beyond acceptable. I honestly thought a riot was going to break out. My niece is 9 and my nephew is 8, niehter me nor my brother had any way to defend them if the mob had gone wild.

I don't know what the cure for this is, but not selling beer isn't it. That would cause bigger problems. I can understand being a hardcore fan of your driver but damn, people need to lighten up.

*shakes head* You should never have to worry about something like that happening at a public event. It's getting to where you can't go to a sporting eventing without worrying for your safety about the person sitting next to you  The days when you can't take your kids to see their favorite driver for fear of them getting injured by other spectators are very sad days indeed. :(

*nods* The beer isn't a problem...it's the people who can't handle theirs, and why punish the ones who can?

Yes, well, I don't consider people like that hardcore fans...I call them arseholes  Makes you want to elbow them in the kneecaps and ask them if their momma's raised them right. *hey, I got to hit them where I can reach lol*

I've never been scared at a race, but this time changed that. It's going to be a while before I even think about taking the niece and nephew again. That's really sad considering that me and my brother have been going to races since we weren't much older than they were. If I ever do take them it will be somewhere like Atlanta or perhaps Bristol (I'm on the waiting list for night race tix there ;) )

I have to admit to some satisfaction at seeing cans bounce of the 24 though...I know I shouldn't.

Hopefully the race in Louden this fall won't be like that.

Tuesdays Power Rankings

Time for Tuesdays Power Rankings

Rank /Prev/ Driver Comments
1 3 Dale Earnhardt Jr. He had the quote of the week: "And if you noticed, there wasn't anyone throwing their Budweiser away. All I saw was Coors. What's that tell you? I guess those last few swallows of a Coors really ain't that good."

2 2 Jimmie Johnson His little brother Jarit is a rising star in the Late Model ranks, which means that in five years, nearly 10 percent of the Nextel Cup drivers will be named J. Johnson or K. Busch.

3 1 Kurt Busch He’s going to run a Superman scheme at the second Michigan race. You know, the same race where Jimmy Spencer punched him last year. We guess Busch wanted some extra help in case Spencer comes over for Round 2.

4 5 Jeff Gordon His car was pelted with trash after the race. Put some pretty big dents in it, too. One of two things happened: 1. They were Dale Jr. fans mad that he beat their man, or 2. They were trying to dent the car so bad that it would fail inspection.

5 4 Matt Kenseth He said that there was a “a lot of crazy stuff going on” at Talladega, but we’re not sure exactly if he meant in the race, or in the infield.

6 10 Ryan Newman He only utters one word – “Hey” – in the new Dodge commercial. We are not sure what Ryan was paid for the spot, but we’re sure his pay-per-word average exceeds Michael Waltrip’s.

7 13 Kevin Harvick The premiere of his reality show on FX is out in Los Angeles this week. No word yet on whether Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle will serve as ushers.

8 6 Tony Stewart Billy Joel was embarrassed this week when he drove into a house. But it wasn’t entirely his fault – Stewart had gotten him loose right before he entered the yard.
9 6 Rusty Wallace The media reported on Sunday that he’s already started a new losing streak.

10 11 Jamie McMurray “I’ve never been hit that hard on a superspeedway,” he said about Talladega. Sure he hasn’t, but he’s never tried to use a fender to cut down Jimmy Spencer’s tire.

11 11 Bobby Labonte He had the highest-finishing Barney-colored car at Talladega.

12 8 Kasey Kahne Quote of the week, No. 2: “Tony Stewart has been running into everything all year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did it here, too.”

13 9 Elliott Sadler We’re not sure who has worse luck in Alabama – Sadler, or Billy Gambini in My Cousin Vinny.
14 16 Mark Martin He’s going to run a Batman scheme at Michigan in August. How genius. We figure Batman is over the age of 50, and could probably use some, um, help.

15 14 Sterling Marlin He ran a Kentucky Derby paint scheme at Talladega. Horse run good.

16 24 Robby Gordon Man, he was strong all weekend long at Talladega. Who says you can’t run a road course car on a superspeedway?

17 19 Greg Biffle He sure did spray a lot of water from his motor on pit road, but fortunately, none of it went on Doug Richert’s face.

18 21 Michael Waltrip What does the 499 in the Aaron’s 499 stand for? You don’t know? It’s the number of Aaron’s ads starring Michael Waltrip that appeared on Sunday’s broadcast.

19 15 Dale Jarrett He drove the entire race at Talladega at the rear of the field, which must have given Eric McClure some confidence. “Hey guys, I am racing Dale Jarrett for position!”

20 17 Jeremy Mayfield Not all the fans were idiots. We saw a couple of Mountain Dew cans bounce off Mayfield’s car.

21 18 Joe Nemechek Engine did blow, Joe.

22 23 Jeff Burton His new sponsor is Roundup. Kills Silly Season rumors in less than 24 hours, or your money back.

23 20 Brian Vickers Well, look at the bright side. That caution gave your teammate the victory.

24 NR Casey Mears He had the highest-finishing Dodge at Talladega, and chances are pretty good that he’ll have the highest-finishing Dodge at Fontana.

25 NR Ken Schrader He’s got a tougher, leaner, more manly paint job. It’s mainly blue, but it’s still got a little canary yellow still mixed in it. The new colors are permanent, mainly because they painted it with a Sharpie.

Tri-oval

Figured I would share a picture with you folks. This is looking down the front stretch just after they fired engines.

Hi there Sexy
Didnt know he had !!

Yup, they were talking about it on the radio - we are in NASCAR country here ;) Just 30 miles from Mooresville, where the garages are :D

Apparently the poor dear finds it hard to get dates...I think I should volunteer, if only out of pity. He's a bit young for my tastes, but I can make exceptions for his ego

I dont understand why he would have a problem finding a date. Maybe he is just really picky?????

I am a "few" years older than him, care to help out my ego???;)

The B2 was flying amazingly slow and low. It was too cool.
