ARCHIVAL DISCUSSION to 11-14-08

OK, varian, why not go this sunday, Jan 1, with the material in its own thread. i suggest we don't put it in the 'introducing characters ' thread, but simply ask those questions.

perhaps we could put a note in the the introducing thread, to consider the story thread.

I have a question - does one here generally only post stories that are already mainly done from the writers point of view, to discuss and improve then, or could one also post a story that is still only written in a rough outline, that one is stuck with but would really like to write and thus could use some help to be pushed back in the right direction with it?

From what I've seen, authors post stories, or excerpts of stories, which are in some draft stage--sometimes a very early, rough draft, sometimes a carefully honed fifteenth draft. I've never seen anyone post just an outline.

Since it's up to the author to ask questions specific to her/his concerns about the story, I don't see why you couldn't post your story at whatever stage it's reached. If you only have an outline, you won't get feedback on your prose, but can still solicit suggestions or reaction to plot structure, character types, etc. The more fleshed out your story is, though, the better we'll be able to see what you're doing and make comment.

hm, i think i exaggerated a bit when i said it is just an outline. it is in fact a draft, just one i am not so happy with yet, and thus a bit of embarrassed about. though i just showed it to a friend, and he seemed to like it anyway... so yes, i think i would like to put it for discussion here...

I have one that I would like to put up for dicussion. It has been frustrating me for about 6 months. I just can't seem to get it right.

Cheers, WT

Ok

WT, how about Sunday?

If the piece is very long, please indicate a 'stopping point' in the 3500-4000 word region, and/or if it's too long, put it in two pieces (of the same thread).

Sw--

i can't recall anyone ahead of you, so you could be next, Feb 12 Sun, if you're ready. let me know.

Next In Line

::hee hee::

I was hoping there would be someone in front of me.

I at least need to get it closer to where I want it before I post. So I'll go for the 19th.

Would it be best to post the entire piece? It's approaching 8,000 words. I plan on making it part of my count therefore it'll be on the site, so with that in mind should I only post the area of most concern and provide a link to the rest?

?

I'm sorry, what is it you want advice about? what is the situation and what is the problem?

hi scarlet

are you ready for today.

Yes, that sounds reasonable to post say 3-4000 wds of a key part, and summarize the rest; then provide a link to the whole thing.

best,
J.

?

I haven't heard from Ms Scarlet and have no idea when or if she is going to post something.

Perhaps we should start canvassing for some other pieces to critique, until she shows up.

I'll have a piece ready for discussion in early March. Ok- it's ready now, but I'm not. ;)

Last For February

I can post Sunday and be the last for February if that's okay with Penelope and you Pure.

My submission hasn't been approved yet so I don't have a link for the whole story within LitE. I can provide a link to the entire piece, but it's off site, secure, but off site. Not sure that's alright.

ok, scarlet

you can just paste the piece into the thread that you start; maybe give a link for anything that goes beyond 3-4000 words.

OK, Penny, mar 12.

Good to see your stuff again.

I'd still like to get your expert opinions on the grammar thread (who whom)

I'd like to post a 5500 word group sex story if and when that meets with the approval of the beloved moderator. :p
