are Americans really stupid ?

I think the last penis you smoked, blew out too many of your brain cells. have you thought about turning yourself in and asking for help?

You are really a rather silly girl, too blinded by the alleged wonders of the USA to respect history.

And for the record, yes, I'm proudly Scots. But I'm also an old professional economist who has always realised that to understand how things work, including the economy, one has to understand where they came from. So economic history is part of my training and my life.

In the course of which, I have come to recognise and admire the many contributions the USA has made to human progress. Nobody intelligent can be blindly anti-American; that is just ignorance.

Comparable to the ignorance of some US citizens, who are unable to bring themselves to admit that any other nationality could possibly have made any contribution to human well-being.

Really, you should stop bringing US education into disrepute by broadcasting your ignorance. And your apparent inability to accept when you've been proved wrong.

Perhaps you mean 'I know of Mr Turing'?

That's twice I have noticed that you have mis-spelled names. Careless about that? No wonder you're also careless about historic facts...

So sorry I offended you with a couple of typographical errors. I've never claimed to be perfect. Are you? Or is that the only thing you can do. Can't disprove my facts, so attack my typing mistakes.

I bet if I went through all your posts I could find a mistake or two. BIt the difference is I don't expect people to be perfect and make errors nor do I need to point that out to them.

As for the facts I posted you claim they're wrong even after I quoted your own sources to prove you wrong, and you have nothing but two spelling errors to come back with. Good argument.

Insult, poor debating technique

And for the record, yes, I'm proudly Scots. But I'm also an old professional economist who has always realised that to understand how things work, including the economy, one has to understand where they came from. So economic history is part of my training and my life.

And your point is? Economics has never been discussed.

In the course of which, I have come to recognise and admire the many contributions the USA has made to human progress. Nobody intelligent can be blindly anti-American; that is just ignorance.

Agreed

Comparable to the ignorance of some US citizens, who are unable to bring themselves to admit that any other nationality could possibly have made any contribution to human well-being.

Blanket statement condemning a large group of people and contradicting your previous statement

When did I ever say no other society contributed anything? I listed specific items all invented by or in America by Americans. You try to say they weren't and I proved you wrong each time.

Really, you should stop bringing US education into disrepute by broadcasting your ignorance. And your apparent inability to accept when you've been proved wrong.

And more insults. Done with you now. I enjoy polite discourse not being insulted. No facts just insults and bragging about your knowledge in a topic that was never discussed. Have a good night.

You are just pathetic. No meeting of minds possible with someone who claims those educated in Scotland can be claimed for the USA. And refuses to accept when she's made mistakes.

Everyone, me included, does typos. But blatant mis-spelling of names of people who are important to your political argument are not typos. They display a mind that doesn't care about facts.

I understand why so many folk have put you on ignore. I won't. Just as I have never once deleted any post on any of my stories on Lit, however negative they were.

Sail off into your own sunset of ignorance. You'll never accept ay facts which threaten your beliefs. You sound like a Trump supporter.

Once again you demonstrate your ignorance.

Just one example: Alexander Graham Bell, like Carnegie, was born and educated in Scotland, not the USA:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Graham_Bell

Go learn some history before you demonstrate yet again the deficiencies of US education.

When did I ever say anything about where Alexander Graham Bell was born or educated. I said the telephone was nvented in America. Form Wikipedia

On October 9, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas A. Watson talked by telephone to each other over a two-mile wire stretched between Cambridge and Boston.

I believe those two cities are in Massachusetts. Which is a US state. Once again your source proves my claim.

The only country who has never had an enemy army occupy it. Time is no condition of your thesis. The Brits were in Washington as long as they needed to get the results they wanted. Your thesis is incorrect.
Only if there desired result was for "The Best Army in the World" to be Bested a Second time by farmers and merchants.

The original Boston and Cambridge are both in the southeast of England. But I don't dispute that Bell developed the telephone in the USA. I dispute that you can claim that someone who was born and educated in Scotland was not Scots. Our diaspora is as large as that of the Jews, Armenians, and Irish. And for similar reasons: oppression and lack of opportunity in their respective homelands, which at the time made emigration look the best choice.

Fortunately, yesterday's stupid English Brexit vote means that Scotland will again, after nearly 400 years, become an independent nation. And mass emigration will be part of our sometimes unhappy history.

After this last post I am unsubscriobing from this thread.

He immigrated to Canada then to the US. Yes he was born in Scotland.

ONce he was here he became and American citizen of Scottish descent. Underr our laws he was an American living and working in America.

Einstein was educated in Germany, yet he helped build teh Atomic bomb in the US with many other scientists from many countries. Never heard anyone claiim this was a multinational effort.

Try all you want he was an American citizen when it was invented it in AMerica.

As for being an independent nation was it one or two years ago you voted to keep living in Mother Englands Basement instead of growing up and striking out on your own? And you call America children.

Facebook, Amazon, Iphones, Ipods, Ipads, (all mentioned before) if you want more...

HIV is chronic not fatal like it was 30 years ago. Same with most cancers. Thanks to American pharmaceutical companies

Laser eye surgery, every google product, email, the internet, robotic surgery Numerous medications that ended the need for certain surgeries like ulcers. Digital cameras, smart phones, Windows OS Stealth warships, 3d printers, and american companies Like AT&T and schools like MIT were a driving force behind HDTV.

shall I go on?

Lots of inventions for home entertainment there.

I too went and found a list of Australian inventions.

Black box flight recorder

electric drill

notepad - the spiral bound one for taking notes.

polymer banknotes (something US has never taken up to prevent counterfeiting).

dual flush toilet

the military tank

Wi-Fi

Race cam

ultrasound

penicillin

heart pacemakers

cervical cancer vaccine

Quantum bit

the humble power board - for multiple 240 v gadgets.

There are more - but you get the picture now. Australian inventors are world class.

Oh wait, you've unsubscribed I see.
Shame on you, and shamed by nearly everyone else here.

heart pacemakers

penicillin

Quantum bit

Well those three are total bull fuckin' shit...

The discovery of penicillin as it is know to modern medical science is attributed to Alexander Flemming, a Scottish scientist.

Pacemaker was M'urican.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilson_Greatbatch

And after a science channel special on quantum computers a week or so ago Australian didn't sound right, and according to wikki it's because it isn't.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qubit

I'm not 100% but I'm 99%, pretty sure the modern battle tank was a WWI British government project....not an Aussie inventors project.

If I cared enough to check everything I wonder how many other lies are on that list. Shit I wonder how much bullshit you crank out into every post...

I can argue the Brit goal was saving Canada from American conquest, but your thesis remains wrong.

The Ozzies invented sodomy.

Americans aren't stupid but there has been some serious misinformation in this thread.

Stupidity and assholes exist in every country. It's part of being human that we have to endure the idiots among us.

Howard Florey...Australian ( he got a fucking Nobel for it!)

pacemaker - Australian!

not THAT part of quantum mechanics doofus!

I am 100% sure - tank was an Aussie invention, developed in Britain - Mk 1 tank.

Take care and check otherwise stfu.

all of mine came from Wiki too fuckhead... sure, some are disputed and others although INVENTED by an Aussie, were further developed in UK and US.

I notice you didn't nod at Wi-Fi and others that you deemed right. Give credit where it's fucking due.

Are you the other tag team member for that stupid twat?

Non-Americans care because the US is the largest economy in the world. And if it goes down the drain it takes others with it. The US is a large source of illegal guns for criminals. Any caring person would be dismayed at the 10,000 people killed every year by guns.

And if your loud-mouthed racist neighbour goes around looking and acting like a steroid freak while shooting off his gun, you would have a laugh at his expense. And take the piss at any opportunity.

The nearest police station where I grew up was twenty miles away. No one needed guns to protect themselves. And we never had real bad shit go down either. So why do you need a gun if your small town is peaceful? I am sure there are state troopers somewhere, just like we relied on the OPP not municipal police.

How would you feel about some loud mouthed redneck moving in next door to you, who had a tendency to fire his guns into the air regularly? That is what it is like living next to the USA.

I cannot agree with your post more, especially the part in bold. Not all Americans are ammosexuals (new term I picked up and have embraced). Saying those outside of the United States shouldn't care what we do is as ignorant as those who say the rest of the world shouldn't care what is happening in the UK. Until we all can become little self-sufficient entities, the happenings in other countries matter.

Of course, by some standards it appears I should just move from the Good 'Ole USA and leave this place to all those who are more "like-minded." Perhaps Trump will have me deported if/when he's elected.

Another great post.:rose:

Great post!

Australians, too, can be incredibly stupid too.

Why, then do Americans think they are so infallible?

We grew up as the biggest dog in the neighborhood. The Euros were too far away to conquer us, and our neighbors were easy to dominate, so we as a society started to believe our propaganda.

Ozzies had that whole tyranny of distance thing going on, but no one to dominate except for the Abos, so I suspect that y'all didn't catch our disease.

Oh we did have our colonial experience in New Guinea, and some Pacific Islands.
ugh at Abos - "indigenous Australians" please.

I fear your other compatriots who frequent this thread, might take you to task for sounding somewhat traitorous - letting down the side.
But what you said takes guts and honesty.

Well some who frequent this thread have proven themselves to be little more than vacuous "look at me! look at me!" feeders who enjoy making generalizing statements to garner the attention of what they perceive as the majority but cannot or won't back it up.
