Arizona! The new thread

K-D-K-B ROCKSSSSSSS ARIZONA>>>>>>

When I was about 11 or 12 A DJ there named Toad Hall was my Sunday School teacher. We got to go down there and cut some promo spots.

That's very cool!

I was usually switching the dial between KDKB, KUPD, and KSLX. But KUPD was predominantly my favorite.

Ah, the eighties. . .

KSLX and KUPD still exist. I'm a switcher too.

I miss my tri-state station out of bullhead city... Star still rocks the drive.. :D

I'm a KCDX fan, when it manages to be on the air. It's a private station that plays an amazingly good mix of (mainly) 70s to 90s, and some of it is delightfully obscure. It reminds me of the best of the AOR stations of the late 70s. 103.1 on the dial, and they have a simple website for those moments when you need to know what the hell you just listened to. (Danger! I keep hunting for old vinyl thanks to this.)

So what the hell happened to the storm we were supposed to get THIS time? Did you West Valley folks hog all the wet stuff? I was anticipating a lovely dreary morning, dammit!

So, what's the web site? Can you share the address? This is something I'd be very interested in.

Also, I've come to realize that meteorologists and politicians are two professions where one can consistently be wrong, and lie, and still keep their jobs.

Whoa, greetings from the very drenched west valley!

Yep it's been on and off since about 1pm or so, with a really good gully washer that lasted about 45 minutes... And it's still rumbling out there. My street looks like the freaking Rio Grande. Apparently we broke a record set in 1903.
You didn't get any in the east valley or up in Lonesome?

I'd be interested in more detail about that radio station, too, please do share.

WEt

Good morning from nice dry texas... I miss the storms!

Mornin' from Chandler,

Girgle girgle girgle Here in Chandler we got enough rain (again) for a very long time.

We met a friend at the Sheraton at I-17 and Dunlap for lunch. It started getting cloudy and windy - then the skies opened up and we just sat in the parking lot after lunch and waited the storm out. We started for home (Chandler) and it took us 2 1/2 hours because of the wrecks, trees down and road closures, etc.

Sure was nice to be dry and safe in our home.
Dave. :D

Just glad you got home safely, Dave!

I think it's really ironic that as we were discussing rock radio stations in Phoenix that KDKB has gone through a recent format change. Now they are ALT AZ 93-3.

Go figure. . .

Yes that's what started the discussion, my being bewildered about it on the day it happened.

I only just learned about it on my trip to Phoenix Wednesday to see the Eagles. I was quite surprised. Oddly, I actually liked what little I heard while I was tuned in.

Some of it is alright, I agree. I didn't like every song on the old KDKB, either.

In my effort to seek out new music, and forsaking "classic rock" radio, I found a lot of obscure stuff that I thought I would never hear on the radio. Then behold! I heard one of those obscure songs from my collection on the new KDKB. I guess I've been living in Smallsville too long.

new stuff is good... some of it anyway. I rarely listen to the radio in my truck but when I do it is usually top 40 stuff.. figure it is good to experience what is popular, I've found songs and artists I like that I wouldn't have otherwise..

Pool party??? is it still warm enough out there for naked outside water fun???

Hum has a hot tub.. ;)
